About this role:</b></p><p>
As an APP, you will join our interdisciplinary Pediatric Critical Care team within the Heart Center at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a focus on serving patients in our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.<br>

Our Critical Care APPs care for pediatric patients (newborn to early adulthood) in our pediatric intensive care and cardiovascular intensive care units. As the quaternary care center for pediatric care in the Intermountain West, we see a wide variety of the most severely ill and injured patients, with referrals reaching us often from as far away as Anchorage, Alaska. Our APPs work in a collaborative nature with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, while having opportunity to work at the top of their scope of licensure - participating in formulation of plans of care, conducting procedures such as insertion of endotracheal and chest tubes and management of ECMO and mechanical circulatory support devices in this critical care environment.<br>

As we provide care 24/7, this APP will be asked to work a full time rotating schedule including day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts averaging 3 12-hour shifts per week. During respiratory season, additional shifts may be available to the provider, dependent on patient volumes and department needs.</p><p><b><br>

This position offers unique experience in our high-volume pediatric cardiac intensive care units, for an individual who wishes to pursue a career in pediatric cardiac critical care.</p><p></p><p><br>
The primary clinical site is at Texas Children's Hospital, the largest pediatric hospital in the United States, an affiliated hospital of Baylor College of Medicine. The section of Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics is a multidisciplinary team of attending critical care physicians, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners and physician assistants), post-doctoral fellows, and research support personnel committed to the care of patients suffering from a life-threatening illness or injury.</p><p></p><p><br>
The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Texas Children's Hospital is one of the highest volume programs in the world. The 48-bed unit is comprised of a Neonatal CICU, Pediatric CICU, and a first of its kind, Pediatric Heart Failure ICU. In addition to over 1000 congenital heart operations annually, TCH is home to an active heart failure program, a busy thoracic organ transplantation service, and one of the largest mechanical circulatory support and VAD programs in the world. In the CICU, the candidate will work alongside pediatric critical care and cardiology physician fellows, and will join the existing CICU Faculty encompassing over 30 attending physicians (comprised of individuals who are specialty trained in pediatric cardiology, pediatric critical care, anesthesia, neonatology, and internal medicine), physician Instructors training in pediatric cardiac critical care, and over 15 advanced practice providers.</p></div></div><div><div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

The Heart Center at Medical City Children&rsquo;s Hospital</b> was re-established in 2019 and prides itself on excellent patient care and outcomes. There are 2 congenital heart surgeons who performed 173 index cases in 2023, and publicly report their surgical outcomes.

The Medical City Children&rsquo;s Cardiology Specialists</b> currently has 11 physicians including 3 interventional cardiologists, 1 electrophysiologist, 3 advanced imaging physicians who perform fetal echocardiography, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT, and 4 outreach cardiologists who will join us in August 2024.</li><li>
Additionally, there are 5 outreach pediatric cardiologists who provide outpatient cardiology services and perform fetal echocardiograms with Heart Center for Children and Pediatric Cardiology of North Texas who are part of the Heart Center. The cardiac ICU is staffed by 6 trained cardiac intensivists and 9 advanced practice providers.</li><li>
Our new Heart Center is currently under construction and will be completed in early 2026. The Heart Center will include 24 dedicated cardiac ICU beds, 12 bed cardiac step-down unit, 2 brand new state of the art cardiac catheterization laboratories, new electrophysiology suite with advanced 3D mapping which allows us to perform electrophysiology studies and ablations with minimal or no radiation exposure, and 2 cardiac operating rooms, one of which will be a hybrid suite.</li></ul><br>

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU Transport - Full-time, NIGHTS</b></p><p><b>
A transport respiratory therapist (RRT) is a registered respiratory therapist whom upon completion of the transport orientation provides comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill or injured neonate and children. The transport respiratory therapist, through the use of expanded clinical skills, is responsible for accurate assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with established protocols while on the transport and in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), or Emergency Department. The RRT is responsible for the stabilization and care of patients during transport under the direction of designated physician or accepting provider. The transport RT is also responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the hospital.</b></p></h6><p><b>
What qualifications you will need:</b></p><ul><li>
Associate Degree in Respiratory Care / Therapy</li><li>
RRT - State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)</li><li>
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date</li><li>
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date</li><li>
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date</li><li>
NRP - Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date</li><li>
STABLE - must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date</li><li><p>
Completion of pediatric stabilization program</p></li><li><p>
Successful completion of Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C-NPT) certification within 1 year of hire</p></li><li><p>
Experience: 3000 verifiable hours of RT experience is required. 2000 hours verifiable of RT experience in Level II or level III NICU required.</p></li></ul><p></p><p>
