 Duties
 
 
 
 The Anesthesia Technician I provides technical support for anesthesia services related to supportive anesthesia care within Perioperative Services, and ancillary departments as needed, to facilitate the smooth flow of surgical or special procedures.
 
 Essential Duties:

 Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders/stocks and maintains routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.

 Maintain anesthesia medications, supplies and equipment according to needs and schedules.

 Cleans, organizes and maintains anesthesia workroom, supplies and equipment
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare and maintain patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra and post anesthesia and with consideration and knowledge of age-specific issues related to meeting the needs of the various patient groups

 Perform basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defective equipment and equipment malfunctions appropriately/immediately

 Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards

 The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a perioperative registered nurse who functions in an expanded role to work collaboratively with the surgeon and the surgical team. The RNFA provides first-assist services during surgical procedures, performs perioperative nursing responsibilities, and ensures high-quality patient care throughout the surgical experience.
 
 
 The RNFA practices under the RN scope of practice, Virginia Board of Nursing regulations, and facility policies, with documented RNFA training, competency, and surgeon delegation. This role integrates both circulating/scrub nursing responsibilities and technical first-assist duties.
