<div><p>The Pre-sentence Investigator is an employee for the Court, and is responsible to the Common Pleas Judges for the writing of pre-sentence investigations (PSI). Incumbent is responsible for investigating, researching and writing PSI&rsquo;s to assist the court with the sentencing of felony adult offenders. The individual reports to the Unit Supervisor Probation Officer as well as the appropriate Common Pleas Judges.</p></div>
<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Job Standards</b></h2></div>
<div><p>This position requires an associate&rsquo;s degree or three (3) years of work related experience. A Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree is preferred. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver License and acceptable driving record. Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on County business at all times. Must be able to submit to and pass an employment background check and drug screening. Must not have a criminal record. Must be able to achieve certification in administering and scoring the Ohio Risk Assessment System.<br>

The individual must be reliable and dependable. The individual must be respectful in striving to accomplish the mission of the Delaware County Adult Court Services. <i>The Delaware County Adult Court Service&rsquo;s mission is to protect society and to rehabilitate the offender by holding the offender accountable by enforcing punitive conditions rendered by the Court.</i> The individual must be able to adhere to State Standards and the Policies and Procedures of the Delaware County Adult Court Services Department.</p></div>

<ul><li>Conduct interviews with defendants, family members, agencies and associations to gather pertinent information to complete the PSI;</li><li>
Investigates defendant&rsquo;s background and collects information pertaining to the defendant&rsquo;s criminal history, family, employment, education, military service and other matters to determine potential risks and needs of the defendant; Analyzes criminal record checks through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, FBI and other agencies;</li><li>
Maintains complete and accurate records of all defendant&rsquo;s contacts and defendant&rsquo;s activities;</li><li>
Work with chemical dependency counselors, law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, defense attorneys, employers, victims and social services agencies;</li><li>
Makes referrals and recommendations as necessary and assists offenders and or families in locating requested or mandatory services;</li><li>
Completes required state reports and assessments; Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) and Community Corrections Information System (CCIS);</li><li>
Answers telephone, screens calls, gives and receives information;</li><li>
Schedules, updates, and maintains appointment schedule of defendants; revise and update PSI list;</li><li>
Attends and participates in staff meetings and staff trainings;</li><li>
May visit facilities where the defendant is incarcerated to conduct interviews;</li><li>
Provides recommendations to Court, determine the amount of restitution due to the victim as well as injuries or problems through consultation with social service agencies, victims, attorneys and others;</li><li>
Completes monthly reports of investigations ordered.</li></ul><ul><li>

<li>Your first priority will be the vulnerable adult&rsquo;s safety.</li>
<li>To assess safety concerns and mental capacity, you will meet with the vulnerable adult in person within 24 hours of receiving a report.</li>
<li>When necessary, you will coordinate emergency services including medical evaluations, temporary placement, and court intervention when the person cannot make decisions for themselves.</li>
<li>Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation and work to prevent it from reoccurring.</li>

<li>Be part of a team dedicated to protecting Florida&rsquo;s vulnerable adults by meeting Florida&rsquo;s nationally leading standards for Adult Protective Services&rsquo; investigations and protections for vulnerable adults.</li>
<li>Your first priority will be the vulnerable adult&rsquo;s safety.</li>
<li>To assess safety concerns and mental capacity, you will meet with the vulnerable adult in person within 24 hours of receiving a report.</li>
<li>When necessary, you will coordinate emergency services including medical evaluations, temporary placement, and court intervention when the person cannot make decisions for themselves.</li>
<li>Investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation and work to prevent it from reoccurring.</li>
<li>Gather critical information about vulnerable adults and others involved in the case through interviews, observations, and analysis of criminal history, prior APS involvement, and records uncovered during the investigations.</li>
<li>Coordinate with state agencies, law enforcement, and prosecutors to provide justice for vulnerable adults.</li>
<li>Connect vulnerable adults with agency and community resources to wrap around services needed to improve their quality of life and often saving them from the worst outcomes.</li>
