Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for purchasing pharmaceuticals, receiving and proper storage, medication recalls and returns, financial management of all medication accounts and oversight of all controlled substances processes.</div><div></div><div>

Responsibilities</div><ul><li>
Has authority and accountability to purchase pharmaceuticals, blood derivative products, and related supplies in accordance with Fairview Policies and procedures. Responsible for receiving process in all appropriate pharmacy locations.</li><li>
Responsible for invoices process system and maintenance of all related records, interdepartmental charges and other miscellaneous records.</li><li>
Responsible for medication recalls, medication returns, medication waste processes, and required legal documentation. Coordinates product returns and issues emergency purchase orders.</li><li>
Purchase, store and distribute all controlled substances; responsible for maintenance and oversight of required controlled substances records.</li><li>
Assures that medication and supply storage sites within pharmacy are maintained in a manner that assures product quality.</li><li>
Constructs and reviews purchasing management reports; takes appropriate actions to resolve variances.</li><li>
Provides input and advises on the development of all policies and procedures related to purchasing and controlled substances systems. Responsible for the implementation process for all policies and procedures.</li><li>
Assures compliance with all legal, regulatory, The Joint Commission, and other standards as well as all related policies and procedures.</li></ul><div> 
Required Qualifications</div><ul><li>

The Corewell Health West Pharmacy Purchasing Team is comprised of 7 Pharmacy Buyers and 6 Pharmacy Stock Technicians located at Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals. The Pharmacy Purchasing Team currently supports 12 Hospital Pharmacies and multiple Oncology/Infusion Centers and Medical Group Clinics. The Team enjoys fast-paced positions requiring the ability to multitask and to be flexible, adaptable, and quick-witted.<div>
Scope of Work</div>
The job of the Buyer is to administer all procurement-related activities for their area of responsibility using independent judgment and analysis. This includes determining customer/project needs and expectations through consistent and direct customer contact or reporting tools; researching and preparing specifications for goods or services based on the needs assessment; obtaining competitive price quotes or applying contract pricing; evaluation and recommending the most appropriate and cost-effective alternatives; negotiating procurement details and managing relationships with vendors; and distributing purchase requisitions to the appropriate Assistant Buyer for processing.<div><ul><li>
Maintain adequate inventory of materials, supplies and equipment.</li><li>
Coordinates procurement activities between user departments and vendors including such activities as researching and obtaining prices / quotes / product information, locating vendors for specialized products, assisting in vendor selection, determining best method of shipment, resolving discrepancies between purchase orders, receipts and invoices and other related activities. Assists in the negotiation / maintenance of contracts.</li><li>
Ensure that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency; engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility.</li><li>
Performs such individual assignments as management may direct. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization. Provides information to senior levels of management on the implication of policies and procedures being formulated and recommends specific action.</li><li>
Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements.</li><li>
Ensures that required documentation for activities within areas of responsibility is performed in an accurate and timely manner.</li><li>
Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, customers, and employees are treated with kindness and respect. Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities. Ensures that work-performed supports Corewell Health's mission of Superior Quality Personal Care.</li><li>

Required Associate's Degree or equivalent in Purchasing, or related business field</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
2 years of relevant experience office experience, preferable in related purchasing field or similar purchasing atmosphere. Required</li><li>
Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health. Preferred</li><li>
Lawson supply chain experience Preferred</li><li>
Ideal candidate will be a Pharmacy Technician possessing both Full Pharmacy Technician License and Pharmacy Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT</li><li>
Ideal candidate will possess Pharmacy Buyer or Pharmacy Purchasing experience</li><li>
