<ul><li>Assist in receiving, checking in, and stocking daily drug orders.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with pharmacy-related inquiries.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Monitor product minimum and maximum inventory levels to maintain appropriate stock levels and support cost-effective inventory control.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with annual inventory and periodic cycle counts as scheduled.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Support ordering processes by reviewing wholesaler pricing and assisting with invoice, shipping, and inventory reconciliation.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Order medications from designated vendor accounts in accordance with established pharmacy procedures.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with the segregation, removal, and return of medications, including coordination with reverse distributors when necessary.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Follow established pharmacy recall procedures when applicable.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including 340B Program requirements.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) medications, including patient enrollment support, documentation, and handling program medications in accordance with established procedures.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Complete all required training assigned by GraceMed Health Clinic.</li></ul>

The Pharmacy Technician assists in the technical functions of the practice of pharmacy, enabling the pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care to the patient. <li>M. Contacts prescribers to obtain prescription refill authorization</li>
<li>N. Accepts prescription refill authorizations communicated to the pharmacy by a prescriber or the prescriber's representative.</li>
<li>O. Certified Pharmacy Technicians: At the discretion of the supervising pharmacist, and after receiving appropriate training, certified Pharmacy technicians may accept new prescription drug orders or medication orders communicated by phone to the pharmacy by a prescriber or the prescriber's agent.</li>
<li>P. Contacts 3rd party payers or physician offices as appropriate to resolve third party prescription payment issues (including prior authorization, step therapy, processing questions etc)</li>
<li>Q. Actively participates in quality, safety, and problem solving activities with other pharmacy staff and hospital/clinic departments.</li>
<li>R. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by pharmacists, supervisors or managers</li>
<li>S. Follows all Federal and State laws regulating the practice of pharmacy and the duties allowed to pharmacy technicians.</li>

Minimum Qualifications

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is primarily performed in a retail and community pharmacy setting located within a grocery store environment. Work is performed during scheduled pharmacy hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

The physical demands of this role include prolonged periods of standing and walking, frequent use of hands and fingers for data entry, counting, labeling, and handling medications, and regular reaching, bending, and twisting. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move pharmacy supplies and inventory, typically up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.  Position Purpose
 Provides delegated pharmacy technical services to patients and other Health System departments.  Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to stand for long periods of time (at least four and up to eight hours per day) or to walk long distances without difficulty. Basic typing and computer skills to do order entry, generate reports, retrieve data and diagnose minor printer problems. Ability to operate basic office equipment including a calculator, cash register, fax machine, word processor, etc. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 100% of the time when processing medication orders. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment when prioritizing work responsibilities. Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with patients, physicians, nurses, and other Health System personnel. Analytical skills to determine when phone calls or emergency situations need to be referred to a pharmacist.
 
Competencies: 
Ability to accurately and quickly perform mathematical calculations commonly used in retail pharmacy.
 
Computer skills: the employee must: a) be able to type by using 10 fingers and the home keys b) know and use common computer keyboard shortcuts c) have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel d) learn, in detail, the retail pharmacy operating system . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Greets customers and Health System personnel. Compiles appropriate patient/customer information, including third-party coverage, medication history, appropriate personal information, etc., required to process a prescription. Processes and fills prescriptions and medication orders. Generates medication labels, auxiliary labels and documents for patient and pharmacy use. Selects and repackages oral solids, liquids and ointments in individual patient quantities and prepares appropriate repackaging documentation. Operates and maintains pharmacy software, automation, cash register, and associated pharmacy equipment. Reviews and processes computer data to determine and complete appropriate billing procedures, including third-party insurance carriers, SJMH-related groups/accounts, physician offices, etc. within appropriate time-frames. Generates and reviews data for medication trending, discrepancies, reconciliations, and other required reports. Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of accounts, records, documents, etc. as required by state and regulatory agencies, and as determined by Pharmacy. Communicates effectively with customers, physicians, Health System personnel, pharmacy third party payers and insurers, and external vendors by answering phones/voice mail, and responds promptly to their requests or by routing requests to applicable personnel. Resolves problems with orders still in process, and properly refers drug information requests or special situational problems to a pharmacist. Performs necessary Pharmacy functions including: ordering and stocking medications, removing expired medications, processing physician office orders, maintaining documentation as required by regulations, servicing customers requesting non-prescription/over-the-counter items, and other assigned Pharmacy tasks. Interacts with patients and staff on hospital units to support the discharge prescription program. Follows established departmental compounding practices and procedures. Maintains cleanliness of work areas and pharmacy including stock storage and other areas consistent with department policies and procedures, and documents as required.

Use the pharmacy computer to complete all actions necessary in order to maximize efficiency and provide optimal patient care at drop-off, will call, drive thru, phone, filling and order receiving, including but not limited to: searching for patients and profiles, determining dates of fill and pick-up, determining prescriptions sent to Central Fill, quoting cash prices of prescriptions, checking on-hand counts of medications and entering invoices.</li><li>
Assist team on actions plans in order to improve outcomes using knowledge of all appropriate service and business metrics.</li><li>
Assist in the execution of all company initiatives and programs.</li><li>
Complete required training program and accompanying exams.</li><li>
Follow all company, state and federal policies, laws and regulations, including HIPAA and Pseudoephedrine sales.</li><li>
Finalize sales using cash register according to established procedures, including the point of sale policies.</li><li>
Transcribe data from prescriptions accurately in order to generate a custom label for the customer.</li><li>
Assist with maintaining proper inventory levels by ordering, receiving, stocking and rotating drugs and other supplies per company policy and procedure.</li><li>
Answer telephone in a polite and timely manner, ensure accurate information is exchanged and the customer is satisfied.</li><li>
Resolve customer questions and concerns by communicating effectively with the customer and the management team and support staff in an efficient manner.</li><li>
File written prescriptions daily</li></ul>

<li>Packages and labels unit dose drugs under supervision and final approval of pharmacist, as needed.</li>

<li>Records manufacturer and lot number on prescription where appropriate.</li>
<li>Files all prescriptions in appropriate folder.</li>
<li>Communicates all third-party billing information to pharmacy support staff.</li>
<li>Checks inventory of drugs and equipment for re-order, including 340B inventory.</li>
<li>Completes audit counts when assigned by the on-duty pharmacist.</li>
<li>Prepares and audits new prescription orders prior to billing all third party forms.</li>
<li>Answers incoming phone calls, takes customer orders.</li>
<li>Performs additional purchasing and inventory control activities as directed by supervisor.</li>
<li>Provides correspondence, typing, and filing services as directed by supervisor.</li>
<li>Check in the wholesaler medications, restocks pharmacy shelves, and maintain proper inventory.</li>
<li>Rings payments, charges, etc. on the register.</li>
<li>Maintains open communication with patient/clients and referral sources.</li>
<li>Services walk-in customers.</li>
<li>Assists in preparing deliveries and communicating with drivers on deliveries as needed.</li>
<li>Conforms to dress code.</li>
<li>Demonstrates timeliness, courtesy, sincerity, and patience when dealing with patients/clients.</li>
<li>Markets the company in a positive and professional manner.</li>
