Job Description: 
 
Provides basic drug distribution and drug preparation services. Checks pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling intravenous solutions, including chemotherapy and other pharmaceutical therapies. Provides backup for the Pharmacy Buyer. The technician functions under the supervision of the pharmacist. 
 
Principle Responsibilities<ul><li>
Technician will routinely complete two of the following responsibilities:<ul><li>
Prepare sterile parenteral products using barcode assisted technology while adhering to USP 797 and 800 requirements.</li><li>
Prepares chemotherapy using barcode assisted technology while adhering to USP 800 requirements.</li><li>
Controlled substance audit technician (less than 50% of time).</li><li>
Supports OR satellite pharmacist with drug dispensing and IV preparation for surgery patients.</li><li>
ADC assignment of medications.</li><li>
Pharmacy buyer backup.</li></ul></li><li>
Manage and support automated drug distribution.<ul><li>
Medication picking, delivery, and restocking to automated dispensing cabinets (ADC).</li><li>
Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment.</li><li>
Delivers and restocks controlled substances.</li><li>
Assists with returns, waste, and reporting/resolution of discrepancies.</li></ul></li><li>
Prepares medications.<ul><li>
Prepares and select medications for distribution.</li><li>
Prepares oral extemporaneous products.</li><li>

Complete and document quality assurance activities.<ul><li>

Required Qualifications<ul><li>

Home Infusion Job Duties
Prepare medications, parenteral products, and chemotherapy.
Prioritizes, enters, fills, labels and prepares for delivery home infusion products.
Adheres to and is knowledgeable regarding all USP 797 processes.
Proficient in computer skills and database management relevant to the work.
Calculates and collates supplies for the patient&rsquo;s home under the supervision of the home infusion pharmacist.
Assists the pharmacist in maintenance of daily patient schedules, planning, and refills.
Works collaboratively with the home care agency and the patient to ensure safe delivery of product to the patient&rsquo;s home.
Assists in billing documentation as directed.
Follows direction regarding workflow to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective administration of medications.
Assists and supports the care coordination/intake team with cross-coverage opportunities

Essential Functions - Director Pharmacy Home Infusion Services</div><div></div><div>
Collaborates closely with departmental leaders to prioritize initiatives from organizational vision and develops action-oriented goals. Uses organizational knowledge gained by connecting people and teams to drive changes effectively.</div><ul><li>
Executes departmental strategies and objectives. Understands market forces and engages in complex analytical and conceptual thinking to identify opportunities for growth. Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.</li></ul><div><ul><li>
Responsible for ensuring a safe medication management cycle. Coordinates with pharmacy, nursing, informatics, and provider leadership to continuously improve processes. Optimizes use of information systems and technology to drive operational efficiencies.</li><li>
Ensures the medication management cycle processes comply with applicable quality, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.</li><li>
Aligns departmental processes and resources to advance organizational initiatives. Demonstrates success in focusing, aligning, and effectively developing individuals and high performing teams. Actively engages with respective teams to empower and connect cross-functional teams to deliver results.</li><li>
Directs pharmacy services through the management and direction of both human and financial resources allocated to the department by managing and enhancing financial performance within pharmacy services.</li><li>
Partners in the development of capital and operating budgets for the department; routinely monitors, manages and controls those budgets with a focus on plans for productivity improvement.</li><li>
Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility. Maintains a safe and clean environment and actively participates in safety initiatives.</li></ul></div>
Qualifications - Director Pharmacy Home Infusion Services<div><div><ul><li>
Required Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy</li><li>
Preferred Master's Degree Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or other related field</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
5 years of relevant experience Working in a large healthcare system Required</li><li>
3 years of relevant experience Pharmacy leadership Required</li><li>
Successful completion of American Society of Health System Pharmacy accredited PGY1 program or equivalent experience. Required</li><li>
