Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
As a Pharmacy Technician Compounding you will perform duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and assists in the processing, preparation, and dispensing of patient medication orders according to professional standards and practices. As a Pharmacy Technician (Compounding) you will demonstrate skills in sterile compounding preparation which may include hazardous drug preparation (chemo certification training).
What you will do in this role:
<ul><li>As a Pharmacy Technician Compounding you will accurately fill medication orders in the pharmacy. You will accurately and safely compound and label medications and parenteral admixtures. You will be responsible for compounding of Sterile Preparations, may include chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition with demonstrated competencies. You will accurately perform required calculations. You will always utilize aseptic techniques in the preparation of parenteral compounding. You will be compliant with all USP 797 shift/daily/monthly requirements (i.e. Cleaning laminar airflow cabinets and biological safety cabinets, wearing personal protective equipment, etc.)</li><li>
You will always obtain a final check from the pharmacist before releasing any prepared parenteral compounds, before packaging any medication, or delivering any medication. You will process medication returns and restocking to the pharmacy. You will accurately package and prepare medications for dispensing as assigned. You will accurately transport medications and other pharmacy supplies in a timely manner to appropriate areas while maintaining proper storage and security of medications throughout the organization.</li><li>
You will perform daily ADC routines as assigned (i.e. restocks, outdates, discrepancy resolution, loading and unloading, etc.). You will replenish ADCs, emergency cart trays and floor stock accurately and in a timely manner. You will troubleshoot ADC issues; able to re-configure ADCs and perform build and set up functions. You will under direction, adjust medication min/max PAR levels. You will provide basic technical support for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systems.
</li><li>You will accurately perform routine manufacturing and prepackaging maintaining accurate and complete record logs. You will ensure that a pharmacist checks all work. You will perform receiving and check in of medication/supply orders. You will appropriately and timely notify the pharmacy inventory manager of products that need to be reordered, shortages, overages and damaged product. You will assist in management of drug supplies in a cost effective manner and identified opportunities to minimize waste.
</li><li>You will identify critical issues, prioritizes workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner. You will interact in person and by phone with hospital personnel in a polite and respectful manner.</li><li>
You will perform unit/area inspections as well as expiration date checking when scheduled and submit appropriate documentation when completed. You will prepare all work records needed for the day including USP 797 cleaning documentation, batch logs, census reports, outdate reports and unload reports. What qualifications you will need:

Completion of a course sponsored by an ACPE provider which provides 40 hours of instruction and experience and meets Texas Board of Pharmacy requirements to compound sterile products. Training may be obtained through completion of a recognized course in an accredited College of Pharmacy or a course sponsored by an ACPE accredited provider.</li><li>
Hospital experience and one year minimum sterile compounding experience preferred.</li><li>

May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.</li><li>

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
As a Pharmacy Technician Medication History Specialist, you will be performing medication histories for new hospital admissions. Your duties are performed under general supervision of the clinical pharmacist, provide complete and accurate information for each medication, e.g., drug name, dose, route, frequency, indication, and date/time last dose was taken. You will utilize available resources for medication history collection including but not limited to: patient/family interview, medication lists, outside facility medication administration records, outpatient pharmacy records, and physician office records. What you will do in this role:
<ul><li>As a Pharmacy Technician Medication History Specialist, you will perform medication histories.</li><li>
You will interview patients and family members for the purpose of compiling an accurate and complete list of current medications the patient was taking prior to admission to the hospital, to include all prescription, non-prescription and investigational medications.</li><li>
You will contact the patient&rsquo;s community pharmacy, physician&rsquo;s office, or other healthcare facility for clarifications if needed.</li><li>
You will accurately update medication history, allergies, adverse drug reaction, pharmacy and primary care provider information in the electronic health record and CPW/VigiLanz.</li><li>
You will correctly and completely document interventions made to the medication history in the electronic medical record prior to the end of each shift worked.</li><li>
You will discuss any questions or issues that arise during the medication history process with a clinical pharmacy specialist.</li><li>
You will appropriately communicate unresolved medication history issues to clinical pharmacy specialists.</li><li>
You will ascertain need for language assistance and obtain interpreters as necessary.</li><li>

Leads Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of Company asset protection techniques, and files claims for warehouse overages (merchandise received, but not billed), shortages (merchandise billed, but not received), order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.</li><li>
Assists and supports Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and seeking to improve pharmacy financial, customer service and inventory performance data; reviewing Rx KPIs with Store Manager and Healthcare Supervisor.</li><li>
May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.</li><li>
Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.</li><li>
Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance</li><li>
Coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the correct use of processes and tools in order to drive efficiency within the pharmacy.</li><li>
Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.</li><li>
Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.</li></ul> 

Training &amp; Personal Development<ul><li>
Maintains PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.</li><li>
Attends training and completes PPLs requested by Manager and acquires continuing education credits. Maintains knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.</li></ul> 

Basic Qualifications 
<ul><li>
PTCB certification (except in Puerto Rico).</li><li>
One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.</li><li>
Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico).</li><li>
Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.</li><li>
Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or in locations where this role is covered under a collective bargaining agreement)</li></ul> 

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.</li><li>
Prefer basic math skills (counting, measuring and weighing medications).</li><li>
Prefer basic level PC skills (for example: start up and shut down computer, use mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents and/or access information on-line).</li><li>
Prefer the knowledge of store inventory control.</li></ul>

Job Summary and Qualifications</h5>
As a Pharmacy Technician Non-Compounding you will perform duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and assist in the processing, preparation, and dispensing of patient medication orders according to professional standards and practices.
What you will do in this role:
<ul><li>As a Pharmacy Technician Non-Compounding you will accurately fill medication orders in the pharmacy. You will process medication returns and restock to the pharmacy. You will accurately package and prepare medications for dispensing as assigned. You will accurately transport medications and other pharmacy supplies in a timely manner to appropriate areas while maintaining proper storage and security of medications throughout the organization. .</li><li>
You will perform daily ADC routines as assigned (i.e. restock, outdates, discrepancy resolution, loading and unloading, etc.) You will replenish ADCs, emergency cart trays and floor stock accurately and in a timely manner. You will provide basic technical support for automated dispensing machines and other pharmacy computer systems. You will perform all necessary functions on the pharmacy computer system which may include: patient profile inquiry, debit/credit medications, pharmacy reports/fill lists, print labels, and billing inquiry.</li><li>
As a Pharmacy Technician Non-Compounding you will accurately perform routine manufacturing and prepackaging maintaining accurate and complete record logs. You will ensure that a pharmacist checks all work. You will perform receiving and check in of medication/supply orders. You will appropriately and timely notify the pharmacy inventory manager of products that need to be reordered, shortages, overages and damaged product. You will assist in management of drug supplies in a cost effective manner and identify opportunities to minimize waste.
</li><li>You will identify critical issues, prioritize workload and communicate to appropriate personnel any issues in a timely manner. You will interact in person and by phone with hospital personnel in a polite and respectful manner.</li><li>
You will perform unit/area inspections as well as expiration date checking when scheduled and submit appropriate documentation when completed. You will prepare all work records needed for the day including prepacking batch logs, census reports, outdate reports and unload reports. You will comply with ongoing process to monitor outdates as per department procedures.</li></ul>
What qualifications you will need:
<ul><li>High School diploma or equivalent education.</li><li>
Hospital experience preferred.</li><li>
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).</li><li>
National Certification (CPhT) with Current active Registered Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board Pharmacy or Intern Certification with the Texas Board of Pharmacy</li></ul>
