IDEA Physical Education teachers implement technology into PE spaces; such as - Interactive Health Technologies (IHT) heart-rate technology and the district&rsquo;s structured curriculum every day to drive fitness-based student achievement and goal setting.</p><p></p><p><br>
All physical education teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters personal and social responsibility, self-directed learning, and the problem-solving skills necessary to succeed in college. IDEA Physical Education teachers plan for and track Moderate to Vigorous Physical Activity (MVPA) as a core instructional outcome for all classes, even with facility and equipment constraints. IDEA Physical Education teachers collaborate with campus teams to share space, manage student transitions, and support campus culture (e.g., crisis response and discipline as assigned).</p><p></p><p><br>

Compensation:
</p><ul><li>The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $64,000. This role is eligible for various stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership ranging from $500-$4,000 each. We also offer additional performance-based compensation. Service Record Requirement: To ensure compliance with Texas Education Code &sect; 21.4031 and accurately verify creditable service, candidates selected for this position must submit official electronic service records from previous educational employers. Plan and teach multi-grade level lessons aligned to SPARK and district PE scope and sequence with limited daily prep time.</li><li>
Set up, break down, and manage equipment in spaces with limited storage; maintain an inventory and safety checklist.</li><li>
Use IHT heart-rate monitors or other technology to set personal zones, monitor student effort, and conference with students on progress.</li><li>
Conduct FitnessGram assessments (BOY/EOY) and use results to set class and individual goals; lead data-driven re-teach cycles.</li><li>
Track and report MVPA and lesson outcomes; analyze class trends to improve instruction and equity.</li><li>
Coordinate shared-space schedules with other educators; adapt lessons based on actual space and equipment available.</li><li>
Pick up and drop off students each period; uphold transitions, safety expectations, and culture routines.</li><li>
Support campus initiatives (crisis team, discipline coverage, coaching, athletic coaching coordination possibilities) while protecting instructional time.</li><li>
Communicate proactively with campus leadership regarding schedules, assemblies, and space availability; submit contingency plans.</li><li>

Assists in the development, implementation, and review of departmental patient care programs. The Fire and EMS Lab Instructor Advanced Life Support Paramedic is also responsible for maintaining, inventorying, and replacing/resetting assigned equipment and lab/classroom spaces; the Fire and EMS Lab Instructor Advanced Life Support Paramedic, as designated by the department/program head/chair, may serve as a lead lab instructor/mentor to help guide and orient new lab instructors to the College, division and department/programs, policies, procedures, and expectations and perform other duties as assigned.</div>
</div><b>Minimum Qualifications:</b><br>
<ul><li>
Current unrestricted certification as a Paramedic (National Registry and/or Virginia Certification).</li></ul><div><b>
Knowledge</b></div><ul>
<li>Knowledge of fire and emergency medical services (essential life support), education standards, and scope of practice.</li>
<li>Knowledge of and experience with competency-based educational techniques.</li>
<li>Knowledge of standardized patient concepts, processes, and practices.</li>
<li>Knowledge of curricula and accreditation standards</li>
</ul><div><b>Skills</b></div><ul>
<li>Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Strong computer skills.</li>
</ul><div><b>Ability to</b></div><ul>
<li>Instruct students through psychomotor skill introduction, acquisition, and evaluation of psychomotor skills performance and provide simulation activities, tutoring, and remedial assistance.</li>
<li>Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in a diverse educational environment.</li>
<li>Work at all campus and off-campus locations.</li>
<li>Work in adverse environmental conditions.</li>
<li>Work in IDLH (immediately dangerous to life and health) atmospheres and situations.</li>
<li>Appropriately don, wear, and doff personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, coat, pants, boot, glove, hood, helmet, eye protection and respirator, and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).</li>
<li>Complete new department/program-specific employee entrance and annual in-service training, maintain the minimum required qualifications and work the minimum number of hours per month/semester as established in the department/program policies and procedures.</li>

<b>Current instructor-level certifications in any of the following areas:</b> Basics Life Support (AHA-BLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), AHA-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), AHA-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NAEMT Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC), AAP Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers (PEPP), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), NAEMT Tactical Combat Casualty Care (LTC) and NAEMT Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC).</div></div></div>
