</h1>Chatham University welcomes applications for an Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy. This is a 12-month appointment, tenure-eligible position.
We are seeking an individual with expertise in Orthopedic Physical Therapy along with experience in Clinical Education who values collegiality and is motivated to contribute to the Program&rsquo;s excellent reputation for entry-level education.
As a faculty member on the tenure track, the candidate will be required to engage in teaching, scholarship, advising, and service, and must hold a license to practice as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Teach content in orthopedic physical therapy (expertise demonstrated through work history, specialist certification, and/or research).
</li><li>Experience in clinical education (i.e., clinical instructor, clinical coordinator, or clinical experience management).
</li><li>Facilitate problem-based learning groups and update cases as needed.
</li><li>Collaborate with program faculty to ensure consistency with educational themes throughout the curriculum.
</li><li>Engage in program, college, and university activities to include professional service and scholarship within areas of interest, and in alignment with the program's mission.

<ul><li>A terminal academic degree completed or in progress (e.g., PhD, DSc, EdD)

Performs physical therapy procedures and diagnostic test on patients for whom they have been medically prescribed 
 
Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance using physical means, such as, exercise, massage, heat, water, etc. 
 
Assesses functional problems and provided intervention and, in conjunction with the physical therapist, works toward goals to improve patient functional status 
 
Communicates effectively with physician, therapist, and coworkers 
 
Participates in case conferencing promoting coordination of care 
 
Recommends prosthetic/orthotic devices for patients or evaluates their device and make minor adjustments or recommend modification 
 
Educates staff in carrying out specific physical therapy modalities when appropriate 
 
Educates patient and family on therapy techniques involved, safety measures, and supportive activities 
 
Instructs patient and family members on proper use of equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, walkers, crutches, canes, and other prosthetic/orthotic devices 
 
Listens to patient and family members 
 
Fosters independence in patients and their families to prevent dependence on the agency 
 
Completes all clinical documentation in accordance with agency protocol and Medicare/Federal guidelines 
 
Documents all aspects of treatment, assessments, and patient education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
 
Drives to patient&rsquo;s primary location per scheduled visit. 
 
Daily attendance at assigned visit locations. 
 
Documents all aspects of subsequent, discharge, eval/recert/resumption of care visits within 24 hours of visits. Documents all aspects of start of care visits within 48 hours of visits. 
 
Completes and submits all required documentation within specified company requirements. 
 
Follows plan of care as permitted within the scope of practice for a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, per the state of employment. 
 
Per visit compensation refers to a lump sum payment for all activities in connection with a visit to a patient. It is compensation not only for the time involved in doing patient care but for preparation time, travel, lab drops, picking up supplies, charting, and communication with the patient&rsquo;s family, physician, and other health care providers. 
 
HEALTH QUALIFICATIONS: 
Health Requirements: Must be able to meet all physical position requirements. Evidence required of a current negative tuberculin skin test or x-ray or receive TB testing at the date of orientation. Thereafter an annual tuberculin skin test is required, unless the employee has documentation of a previous TB test. Employee must be free of physical/medical conditions, which would limit or restrict their ability to perform the essential functions. Employees in this position may be at risk for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Job Summary 
 
Assists patients/residents/clients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan, under the supervision of a physical therapist, to improve patients'/residents'/clients' quality of life and ability to perform daily activities. Experience: Three years&rsquo; experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or as a Respiratory Therapy instructor, with least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care and/or two (2) years&rsquo; experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member within a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/ preceptor for students of such programs.

Education: Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Education or Respiratory Therapy. Possession of a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Education shall require an Associate&rsquo;s degree in Respiratory Therapy.
Experience: Four (4) years&rsquo; experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or as a Respiratory Therapy Instructor, with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care and/or two (2) years&rsquo; experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/ preceptor for students of such programs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience in Respiratory Therapy. Experience in collaborative co-teaching environments, online teaching, curriculum development, course equivalency evaluation, and the creation of transfer and articulation agreements. Familiarity with teaching and clinical software including Zoom, Canvas, and Trajecsys.

Primary Duties:</div><div><ul><li>
Provides evaluation services including review of pertinent historical information, performance of specific assessments, and determination of recommendations and documentation of results. Explains evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and incorporates patient and family in the goals setting.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
Demonstrates proficiency in implementation of treatment protocols based upon evaluation findings, the patient's presentation, and the evolving health care environment. Consults with other healthcare professionals as indicated. Recognizes and documents changes in patient's condition requiring modification of the plan of care and/or the need for medical/rehabilitation consultation.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
Completes appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Accurately and timely documents and charges for patient care activities considering our evolving health care environment, painting a clear picture of the patient's course of care including focused initial evaluation/plan of care that establishes baseline and goals, daily encounter notes, interim progress summaries, and discharge evaluation.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
Demonstrates effective time management and meets productivity expectations. Manage an accurate schedule. Demonstrates a professional commitment to provide frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and actions/behaviors that display empathy in our patient consumer driven environment.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization. Serves as a clinical instructor to assign students. Qualifications:</div><div><ul><li>
Bachelor&rsquo;s, Master&rsquo;s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>
