Job description</b></h3><p>
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.<br>
In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.<br>
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.<br>
For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.<br>
We are looking to recruit for the role of Piping Design Engineer.</p><div>
The position of Piping Design Engineer aims at supporting the field design activities for the piping discipline. It will lead to handle different interfaces with several disciplines and solve piping engineering topics raised during on-site installation of pipework and associated supports. The main tasks will be the following:<br>
<ul><li>Gathering input data.</li><li>Engaging with various stakeholders (installation contractors, CW interfaces, other disciplines) to clarify issues.</li><li>Producing site request technical assessment (RFI, FCR, NCR) concerning design issues on piping, support and anchorage scopes.</li><li>Contributing to other teams (Layout, Transverse, etc&hellip;) by providing piping assessments or general guidance as required.</li><li>Doing hand calculations and running anchorages macros to assess the feasibility of modification.</li><li>Proposing appropriate and proportionate modifications if sizing criteria are not met.</li><li>Closing open points and comments.</li><li>Assessing and integrating modification coming from the stakeholders after packages handed over to JDO.</li><li>Using calculation notes and guide drawings subcontracted to external companies.</li><li>Maintaining EPR-E&rsquo;s QA procedures in delivering the design.</li><li>Working with CAD designers/detailers in the preparation of the design drawings.</li><li>Contributing to the update of site design documentation such as tolerance notes or catalogue of standard solutions.</li></ul></div><h3 class="jobSectionHeader"><b><br>

</b></p><p>The Design Engineer &ndash; Storage Solutions / Custom Composite Structures &amp; Piping is responsible for the design, analysis, certification, and application engineering of reinforced thermoset plastic (RTP) vessels, tanks, piping systems, and related fiberglass storage solutions in accordance with ASME RTP-1, ASME NM.2, EN 13121, AWWA M45, API 15LR/15HR, and applicable project standards. This role requires strong knowledge of mechanical design, piping applications, laminate mechanics, and composite fabrication methods such as filament winding, contact molding, secondary bonding, and post-cure. The engineer will perform stress and strain analysis, hydraulic analysis, pipe sizing, design verification, laminate development, and technical evaluations to support quotation, tendering, project execution, manufacturing, inspection, and customer submittals.
</p><p><b>Main Responsibilities
</b></p><ul><li>Serve as the technical gatekeeper to ensure FGS products are selected and supplied only for applications within approved service parameters, design limits, and product capabilities.
</li><li>Review RFQs, customer specifications, datasheets, drawings, and service conditions to recommend technically compliant and optimized product solutions.
</li><li>Develop and certify design calculations, drawings, and specifications for composite vessels, tanks, storage solutions, and piping systems in accordance with ASME RTP-1, ASME NM.2, EN 13121, AWWA M45, API 15LR/15HR, BS 4994, and applicable project standards.

</li><li>Review and approve fabrication drawings, layout drawings, shop drawings, and BOMs to ensure manufacturability, code compliance, dimensional accuracy, and alignment with design intent.
