<p>This is a non-exempt position with limited supervisory responsibilities, but may require supervisory skills and management of personnel that are assigned operations of investigating criminal activity. <p><b>Essential Functions</b><b>:</b></p>

<li>Direct the processing of crime scenes. Coordinate lead assignments with support personnel, outside agencies and other organizations involved with the investigation.</li>
<li>Ensure that all evidence is properly submitted to the laboratory for analysis and evaluation.</li>
<li>Ensure that all worked performed, by assigned personnel, is properly documented and completed.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain informants that will aid in the collection of intelligence information. Maintain control of any cooperating individuals during police operations that are used in a proactive investigation.</li>
<li>Act as a liaison with the prosecuting attorneys, victims and witnesses and maintain contact with them throughout any judicial proceedings.</li>

<p><b>Additional Requirements:</b></p>

<li>The detective is directly assigned to the Investigations Division, but at times may be temporarily re-assigned to the Patrol Division during special functions and at times designated for the benefit of the department</li>

The Technical Support Unit is responsible for providing technical investigative support to the Louisiana State Police as well as well as other state and local law enforcement agencies in Louisiana.</li><li><b>
Special Victims Unit</b><br>
Rescue and seek justice for the victims of crimes involving the exploitation of children and the trafficking of humans for sex or labor through investigative partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, and through public education.</li><li><b>
Insurance Fraud / Auto Theft Unit (IFAT)</b><br>
The IFAT Unit is responsible for investigating referrals of suspected fraudulent insurance acts; assisting federal and local law enforcement in the investigation of fraudulent insurance acts; cooperating with local prosecutors and the attorney general's office in the prosecution of fraudulent insurance acts; and promoting awareness of insurance fraud throughout the state. Additionally, the Unit is responsible for investigating individuals and illicit organizations involved in the theft of motor vehicles.</li><li><b>
Louisiana Clearinghouse for Missing and Exploited Children</b><br>
Created in 1985 by the Louisiana Legislature, LACMEC is the central repository of information about missing and exploited children. Parents, guardians, law enforcement and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) provide the clearinghouse with details and photos to send across the state and nation. This information is sent to local law enforcement agencies to assist in the recovery of these missing children. LACMEC also gives parents and guardians important information on the role they play in helping their children return home and available local and national resources.</li><li><b>
Cyber Crimes Unit</b><br>
The Cyber Crime Unit mission is to provide accurate and timely threat intelligence, incident response, and forensic analysis to prevent and mitigate cyber threats to Louisiana. The unit supports criminal investigations surrounding cyberattacks and network intrusions. These efforts include traditional digital extraction and forensics, as well as, network forensic and analysis with the goal of determining the root cause of a single event or in support of a larger operation. Information sharing of actionable cyber intelligence is conducted at no cost to federal, state, local and private sector entities.</li></ul></li></ul></div><p></p>
