 The Center possesses the unique possibility to investigate fundamental questions in astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and planetary physics from several points of view, with the expertise of its members ranging from collecting and analyzing state-of-the-art data on the nature of the visible and invisible matter in the Universe, to detailed theoretical and numerical studies from planets to galaxies, and linking them together cohesively.

 The center fellows will have access to a 70,000-core Infiniband Cluster (Jubail) dedicated to the science division, several GPU-based clusters at NYUAD, and other supercomputer facilities through the CASS network. NYUAD also has guaranteed observing time on the Green Bank Telescope, the Very Long Baseline Array, and Las Cumbres Observatory, and is a participant in SDSS-V.

 Applicants should have a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or a closely related field. The appointment will be for an initial period of two years with a likely extension to a total of three years. CASS fellows will have

</b></h3><div><div><p>The Water Research Center, New York University Abu Dhabi, is seeking to hire an Associate Research Scientist to develop calix[n]arene-based covalent organic frameworks for water purification.</p>
<p>
The successful candidate will develop new calix[n]arene-based covalent organic frameworks for water purification applications. To explore this area of macrocycle-based porous frameworks for water contaminant removal, the candidate will be involved in the directed synthesis of organic macrocycle containing linkers and porous frameworks and then investigate the supramolecular interactions with various organic pollutants. This would require knowledge in the design and synthesis of porous frameworks, particularly in techniques such as Schlenk line, glove box, powder X-ray diffraction, electron diffraction, electron microscopy, and porosity analysis. The candidate is expected to have a thorough understanding of the analytical techniques used to characterize the materials. Experience in the application of such materials to water treatment is preferred. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students.</p>
<p>
Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry or materials science. Excellent experimental and synthetic skills relevant to the project (particularly, synthesis of covalent organic frameworks) are required.</p>
