The Networks and Causal Inference for Public Health and Education Research (NCIPHER) lab at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to conduct innovative research to develop causal inference methodology combined in novel ways with network science and epidemiological modeling to solve critical challenges at the nexus of HIV and substance use for network-based studies of HIV prevention. The one-year position is funded by a five-year grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse that supports methodological and collaborative research. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of Doctor of Pharmacy and Doctor of Statistics / Principal Investigators and collaborate with experts in a variety of fields, including Medicine, Epidemiology, Statistics, and Public Health.<br>

NCIPHER lab focuses on applying and synthesizing causal inference and network science to address some of the most pressing public health and educational challenges, such as harm reduction measures among people who use drugs, increasing pre-exposure prophylaxis uptake among men susceptible to HIV, and improving learning in undergraduate statistics education. In these contexts, there are meaningful connections between patients, students, and participants, and this must be considered when evaluating interventions with possible spillover. The research lab provides a collaborative, supportive environment for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty through weekly team meetings, journal club, statistical program code review, presentation opportunities at URI and beyond, and one-on-one faculty mentoring for research projects. The lab has supported the studies and research of eight graduate students and two postdoctoral fellows over the past six years, and these mentees have continued to internships and employment at leading academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies.<br>

Postdoctoral Fellow - Functional Genomics

</b></p><p></p><p>We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher motivated to advance knowledge at the intersection of sensorimotor neuroscience, biomechanics, rehabilitation, and robotics, with direct applications to human health and performance. The postdoc will join a collaborative team led by Dr. C.J. Hasson (Department of Physical Therapy, Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences) and Dr. Peter Whitney (Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering) at Northeastern University, who are both core members of the Institute for Experiential Robotics. They will also have an opportunity to collaborate with Prof. Robert Riener at ETH Z&uuml;rich, a leader in Rehabilitation Robotics. Projects span human subjects research, computational modeling, and robotic technologies. This position is ideal for candidates eager to pursue rigorous, collaborative research with the potential to make a lasting impact on both science and clinical practice.

</p><p>&middot; Lead recruitment, experimental data collection, and data analysis for human subjects research.
</p><p>&middot; Develop and apply computational models and algorithms to support robotic augmentation studies.
</p><p>&middot; Contribute to manuscript preparation and dissemination of findings at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
</p><p>&middot; Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams across Northeastern and ETH Z&uuml;rich.
</p><p>&middot; Provide mentorship for graduate and undergraduate students.
</p><p>&middot; Assist in grant preparation and lab management activities as needed.
</p><p></p><p>Required Qualifications
</p><p>&middot; Ph.D. in neuroscience, biomedical/mechanical engineering, kinesiology, robotics, rehabilitation science, or a related field.
</p><p>&middot; Demonstrated experience in human subjects research.
</p><p>&middot; Proficiency in signal processing and data analysis for human movement or physiological data.
</p><p>&middot; Strong programming skills in MATLAB and C++.
</p><p>&middot; Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a record of scientific publications.
</p><p></p><p>Preferred Qualifications
</p><p>&middot; Experience with computational modeling of movement or motor control.
</p><p>&middot; Experience in Linux-based environments.
</p><p>&middot; Experience mentoring students and contributing to grant proposals.
</p><p>&middot; Some experience in fabrication (e.g., 3D printing).
