<div><div><b>Position Summary</b></div>
<div>We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to join our interdisciplinary team seeking to develop next generation dialysis systems. The successful candidate will perform research on the materials characterization and testing of membranes for dialysis, including development, fabrication, and optimization of dialysis testing systems. The postdoctoral researcher will work under the guidance of Professors Theo Dingemans (polymer chemist, Applied Physical Sciences), Orlando Coronell (membrane engineer, Environmental Sciences and Engineering), and Prabir Roy-Chaudhury (Nephrologist, School of Medicine).<br>

The individual hired into this position will be a member of the Institute for Convergent Science (ICS) Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow Program (https://convergent.unc.edu/) and will have the opportunity to participate in professional development activities such as performing customer discovery, market research and patent landscaping and supporting proposal development projects. There is flexibility to tailor the experience to the career goals of the fellow, depending on availability of suitable initiatives.<br>

This fellowship offers unique training in translational science while also developing commercialization and project leadership skills. Fellows are also encouraged to participate in existing experiential training programs including the UNC Venture Catalyst Program and the I-Corps program. Fellows will have access to UNC CareerWell courses (including Market Research, Team Collaboration, Technology Commercialization Fundamentals, Applied Project Management) offered by The Graduate School.  The Ramadi Lab for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine develops innovative approaches for the modulation of neural activity throughout the body. We combine mechanical, electrical, materials, and bio-engineering toolkits towards designing minimally invasive technologies for neuromodulation. Our projects are translational in nature and are focused on addressing a specific need in clinical care. Our goal is to develop novel diagnostics and therapies for neurologic, metabolic, and immune disorders using technologies such as implantable microdevices, nanoparticles, and electroceuticals.

The Sarma lab investigates mechanisms of gene regulation through RNA-containing chromatin using neurodifferentiation and cancer models. The Department of Emergency Medicine and the Global Emergency Medicine Innovation and Implementation Research (GEMINI) Center are recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to the Division of Translational Health Sciences. The position will be focused primarily on analyzing data from projects related to emergency medical services, focused on stroke care, and climate change implementation science. This role will focus on analyzing data using biostatistics tools, systems dynamics methodologies, and implementation of science techniques. This position will also be expected to be writing manuscripts, grants and engaging with the Department faculty in research activities. For the</div>

department-specific work the researcher will analyze data, build academic dissemination products, meet weekly with the Translational Health Sciences Division and the GEMINI Center members, support grant proposal development and engage with research activities in the department. Similarly, there may be some travel opportunities in the global health scenario and domestically for dissemination, and plenty of opportunities for career advancement.</div>

Responsibilities:</div>
<ul><li>Learn background/research methods of studies for which analysis is conducted with limited direction</li></ul>

and supervision.</div>
<ul><li>Statistical analysis and database management.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Learn and execute on Systems dynamics modeling and/or microsimulation</li></ul>
<ul>
<li>Mixed-methods community engagement methodological development</li>
</ul>
<ul><li>Collaborate on multiple research projects at a time.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Preparing and explaining data reports to primary investigators.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Preparation of independent research manuscripts for publication.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with data queries and statistical analysis sections (including power analysis) for research grant</li></ul>

Requirements:</div>

Earned a doctorate (PhD, MD/MPH, etc.) in health systems, social sciences, epidemiology or other health-related fields.</div><br>

Demonstrated proficiency through previous developed analytical codes with R Language for Statistical Computing and/or Python</div><br>
