Overview:</b>
</p></div><div><p>We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to reside within the Sample Environment and Labs Section, which is part of the Neutron Scattering Division (NSD), Neutron Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).</p></div><div><p><br>
</p></div><div><p>As part of the team, you will carry out in-situ studies of droplet interface bilayers (DIBs) using fluorescence microscopy techniques (confocal, multiphoton, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, total internal reflection fluorescence) and Flicker spectroscopy. You will also engage with neutron scattering researchers in mapping DIB experiments to neutron reflectometry studies.</p></div><p></p><div><p><br>
The main objectives are: (1) To implement fluorescence microscopy techniques and Flicker spectroscopy to studies of DIBs under electrical stimulation; (2) Use other physical characterization techniques (differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic light scattering, small angle neutron and/or x-ray scattering) to characterize the DIBs; and (3) Develop/implement image analysis software. The prospective candidate will also have the opportunity to develop their own science that will complement the proposed DIB studies.</p></div><p></p><div><p><b><br>
Major Duties/Responsibilities:</b></p></div><div><ul><li><p>
Study droplet interface bilayer (DIB) systems using fluorescence microscopy techniques (confocal, multiphoton, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, total internal reflection fluorescence) and Flicker spectroscopy.</p></li></ul></div><div><ul><li><p>

<p>
The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project that links processing speed measures to previously acquired functional and structural MRI data. The project will also involve simultaneously acquired and co-registered fMRI and EEG measurements. Measures of cognitive &ldquo;Speed of Processing&rdquo; are important for studies of healthy aging and many disorders, including multiple sclerosis, autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, and schizophrenia, as well as diabetes and obesity. This project investigates the neural correlates of Speed of Processing and its subcomponents, translating into a more complete understanding of the mechanisms involved and their role in brain health. This project combines MRI and EEG/MEG studies with behavioral, genetic, and clinical measures to yield a more complete picture of how processing speed is related to health outcomes.</p>
<p>
The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.</p>

Applicants must have a PhD in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or a related field, and is still within their first 5 years since receiving their PhD. Strong neuroimaging data processing skills relevant to the project are required.  We are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in demography, epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline in the social sciences. The appointment will begin September 1, 2026, subject to final budget approval and is available for up to three years.

 The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professor St&eacute;phane Helleringer. The collaborative research will be on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries, with an emphasis on measurement issues and the impact of crises such as epidemics and disasters.

 The job entails conducting high-quality research on population health and its determinants in low-and-middle-income countries. This includes conceptualizing research questions, designing empirical studies, collecting or acquiring new data sets, and analyzing these data using advanced statistical models and visualization techniques. The job also emphasizes the dissemination of knowledge about population health, particularly through the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts, software packages and/or participation in international conferences.

 The Center For Astrophysics And Space Science (CASS) At NYUAD Is Looking To Appoint New Independent Fellows Working In One (or More) Of The Following Center's Research Fields

 The center currently consists of eight faculty members and more than 25 researchers and PhD students.

 The Center possesses the unique possibility to investigate fundamental questions in astrophysics, astroparticle physics, and planetary physics from several points of view, with the expertise of its members ranging from collecting and analyzing state-of-the-art data on the nature of the visible and invisible matter in the Universe, to detailed theoretical and numerical studies from planets to galaxies, and linking them together cohesively.

 The center fellows will have access to a 70,000-core Infiniband Cluster (Jubail) dedicated to the science division, several GPU-based clusters at NYUAD, and other supercomputer facilities through the CASS network. NYUAD also has guaranteed observing time on the Green Bank Telescope, the Very Long Baseline Array, and Las Cumbres Observatory, and is a participant in SDSS-V.

 Applicants should have a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or a closely related field and are still within their first 5 years since receiving their PhD. The appointment will be for an initial period of two years with a likely extension to a total of three years. CASS fellows will have

 We seek an ambitious, well-trained, and collaborative scholar with a PhD in economics or a related field, still within their first 5 years since receiving their PhD. Candidates must have expertise in experimental methods and prior experience conducting social science experiments (lab, lab-in-the-field, online, and/or field). Researchers working at the intersection of experiments and other methods (theory, empirical) as well those studying human behavior and artificial intelligence are especially encouraged to apply.
