Postdoctoral / Research Associate Position in Radiology Research</b></p><p>
The Pediatric Imaging Research Center (PIRC) in the Department of Radiology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our group of physicians, medical students, residents, and physicists to conduct research in imaging data analysis. Our primary research focus is identifying the value of imaging and radiology procedures at the institutional, regional, and national levels.</p><p>
This position is designed for highly motivated medical graduates interested in pursuing a career in <b>imaging data analysis</b> who seek intensive research experience, mentorship, and publication productivity prior to residency or advanced fellowship training.</p><p>
The fellow will work directly with faculty leadership in Pediatric Radiology across a large multi-hospital academic health system and will participate in clinical research and outcomes research. The fellow will also be involved in health services research, registry and database development, and translational projects when available.</p><p>
The fellow will participate in the design and execution of clinical research studies, creation and maintenance of prospective databases, chart review and structured data extraction, and statistical analysis with training and faculty support. Responsibilities will include preparation of abstracts for national meetings, manuscript writing and submission, and assistance with clinical trial coordination and regulatory processes including IRB submissions. The fellow will attend weekly research meetings, journal clubs, and academic conferences, and will collaborate with faculty both in and outside of the University of Pittsburgh community. Participation in grant development and protocol preparation is expected.</p><p>
The fellowship provides close mentorship in scientific writing, study design, clinical trial methodology, statistical interpretation, conference presentation skills, and academic career development. Typical fellows can expect to produce multiple peer-reviewed publications and national conference abstracts, including first-author manuscripts and opportunities for oral presentations, as well as strong letters of recommendation from faculty mentors. Highly motivated fellows often exceed these benchmarks. Fellows from quantitative or public health backgrounds will gain direct exposure to clinical workflow and multidisciplinary care to better contextualize research questions and outcomes.</p><p>

<p>The CUNY Dominican Studies Institute was founded in 1992 at The City College of New York. It is the nation&rsquo;s first university- based research institute dedicated to the study of the Dominican people, particularly those who have made the United States their home. In addition to producing rigorous and impactful scholarship, working with younger generations at all levels, including undergraduate and school students, has long been a central priority and an essential component of the Institute&rsquo;s mission.</p>
<p>A defining hallmark of the Institute is its unique ability to integrate participants across these diverse educational levels into its research projects, creating a dynamic, intergenerational model of learning that transcends age and academic stage. In 2025, these programs served close to 800 students, including 20 participants from across the United States in the Summer Research Internship.</p>
<p>While these initiatives have grown into a robust educational pipeline, serving multiple stages of the academic journey in a structured sequence and representing the only program of its kind in the nation focused on Dominican Studies, the Institute seeks a candidate who can support the continued research, assessment, and development of its educational programs and initiatives.</p>
<p>The successful candidate must possess a unique professional and academic profile that combines theoretical knowledge on educational pedagogy with practical application. The preferred candidate should possess experience working within K-12 public school system, including collaborating with teachers and administrators, as well as a Ph.D. in Education or a closely related field.</p>
<p>Duties of the proposed position:</p>
<ul><li>Support the development and assessment of initiatives that brings together all of CUNY DSI&rsquo;s educational programs, including contributing to program planning and evaluation activities</li></ul>
<ul><li>Track and document program outcomes and impact;</li></ul>
<ul><li>Conduct research and assessment related to recruitment, retention, and participation in educational programs;</li></ul>
<ul><li>Collaborate with educational programs and institutions that may provide practical experience to our students;</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with identifying and supporting grant opportunities aligned with the Institute&rsquo;s educational and research mission;</li></ul>
<ul><li>Analyze, and evaluate program data to:</li></ul>
<p>a) inform research and programmatic decision-making,</p>
<p>b) support the preparation of grant proposals,</p>
<p>c) make presentations in academic conferences, and</p>
<p>d) prepare publications both in lay language for the consumption of the general public and peer reviewed articles for the scholarly community.</p>
<p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b></p>
<p>Doctoral Degree in a related field and demonstrated research ability.</p>

<p><b>Preferred Qualifications:</b></p>
<ul><li><p>Five (5) years of experience working with K-12 public school systems or educational setting.</p></li>

Demonstrated research experience related to educational pedagogy, student engagement, education access, or community based educational initiatives.</p></li>

Strong Analytical, writing, and presentation skills.</p></li>

Experience preparing research reports, conference presentations, or scholarly publications.</p></li>

<p><b>COMPENSATION</b></p>
<p>Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000. Salary commensurate with education and experience.</p>

</div><p>We are seeking motivated postdoctoral candidates to advance the theory of brain-inspired algorithms and apply them to complex, real-world problems. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of computer scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and neuroscientists pursuing advanced research and development in neuromorphic computing, artificial intelligence, and spiking neural networks across a range of applications.</p><p>
A strong background in theory (e.g., mathematics, theoretical neuroscience, computer science) is a necessity. Experience with artificial intelligence models or neural-inspired computing is strongly preferred.</p><p>
