 An exciting opportunity is available to join the laboratories of Dr Salah Mansour and Dr Ali Roghanian at the University of Southampton. We are seeking a collaborative and motivated postdoctoral scientist to work on our Blood Cancer UK-funded programme developing next-generation, off-the-shelf immunotherapies for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

 This three-year project will harness cytotoxic invariant Natural Killer T (iNKT) cells for precision targeting of AML, an aggressive leukaemia with poor survival outcomes. Building on strong preliminary data, it combines mechanistic and translational immunology with bespoke
 <em>
  in vivo
 </em>
 models to define and exploit therapeutically relevant subsets. The Research Fellow will lead studies on cytotoxic T cell mechanisms, oversee preclinical validation, and advance CAR-iNKT platforms optimised for AML immunotherapy.

 The role bridges basic and translational research and suits a creative scientist with interests in tumour immunology, T cell engineering, and immunotherapy. You will join a multidisciplinary team spanning immunology, and bioinformatics, with access to advanced flow cytometry, 10X Genomics,

Position Summary</b></h4>
<p>
Postdoctoral scholars seek to improve their skills through direct, mentored scholarship, conducting research under the direction of a faculty member for the purpose of acquiring research training, which will lead to successful employment in a research position. PSI scientists are collaborative in their research activities, and postdoctoral scholars are expected to serve in both lead and supporting roles in manuscript development and other project activities. For this particular position, the postdoctoral scholar will participate in manuscript preparation and data analysis of data from randomized trials of behavioral interventions to support young children with autism and their families. In addition, the post-doctoral fellow will also support the coordination of ongoing intervention trials and deliver intervention and assessment directly with young children as a part of these trials. The nature of the work is relatively fast-paced, and we value rigor, reproducibility, and productivity in scholarship from all members of the research team while maintaining a positive and supportive work environment.<br>

Postdoctoral positions are limited-duration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of two years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond two years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. For the purpose of acquiring additional professional skills needed to pursue a career path in the chosen field, this position will have a formal mentor plan. The purpose of this postdoctoral position will include training in community-engaged research, implementation science, study management, grant writing, manuscript development, and field assessments. ABOUT THE LABORATORY</b></p><p>
Our work combines molecular biology techniques with human-based and in vivo mouse models to answer fundamental questions of carcinogenesis with the ultimate goal of informing novel therapeutic strategies and developing methods for early detection and cancer prevention. As part of this bench-to-bedside lab, you'll contribute to translational research with exciting clinical implications for patients with cancer.</p><p>
The Precancer Genomics Lab, located in the MSTF Building at The University of Maryland School of Medicine, investigates the genomic landscape of precancerous cells and their microenvironment, seeking to identify vulnerabilities and unlock strategies for cancer interception. The goals of the lab are to improve early cancer detection and establish cancer prevention strategies for upper gastrointestinal cancers, including stomach, pancreas, and bile ducts.</p><p>
Led by Dr. Jeremy Davis, Professor and Chief of Surgical Oncology, the laboratory has substantial experience using multi-omics analyses to investigate the genetic, molecular, and immunological mechanisms underlying sporadic and inherited forms of stomach cancer, specifically those caused by germline mutations in the CDH1 gene.</p><p><b>

His lab performs cutting edge research on deciphering the role of various signaling pathways, gut microbiome, and immune system on the initiation and progression of pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis. The lab is currently overseeing multiple ongoing clinical trials and has a track record of translating research findings from bench to bedside.</p><p><br>
