 Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project life cycle management, including accurate budgeting and forecasting, combined with effective planning and execution for designated projects within the Generation Major Projects organization. Projects managed by this organization typically range from ~$10M to over $500M in total spend. This team performs large and or complex projects or engineering studies for the company which includes projects supporting electric generation, electric transmission, environmental remediation, and other scopes of work of larger size or with higher complexity. Projects are typically first of their kind for the company, and almost always multi-year. The Project Manager requires proactive leadership to integrate and collaborate with both internal and external project stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

What’s the difference between a technical project manager and a project manager? The Senior Technical Project Manager not only manages timelines, budgets, and teams like a project manager (PM) but also has a strong technical background, allowing them to deeply understand the software development process, assess technical risks, and communicate effectively with engineers. A project manager focuses more on coordination, stakeholder communication, and ensuring the project meets business goals, often relying on technical leads for detailed technical guidance
 
We would ideally like someone willing to work hybrid onsite at our Cohoes, NY office, but we are willing to consider EST-based US-based remote workers who are able to visit our office with some frequency.
 
Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>6-8+ years of experience managing large-scale software development projects with cross-functional teams.</li>
<li>Strong technical background and understanding of software development processes, tools, and frameworks.</li>
<li>Expertise in Agile, Scrum, and hybrid project management approaches.</li>
<li>Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.</li>
<li>Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Proficient with project management tools such as DevOps, GitHub Projects, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, or similar.</li>
<li>PMP, CSM, or other relevant certifications are a plus.</li>

Responsibilities:

<li>Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.</li>
<li>Manage expectations and provide regular status updates to leadership and clients, ensuring transparency and accountability.</li>
<li>Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders and technical teams.</li>
<li>Drive Agile, Scrum, or other project management methodologies to ensure iterative development and continuous improvement.</li>
<li>Provide strategic direction and oversight for large, mission-critical software projects.</li>
<li>Collaborate with company leadership to refine project management processes and execution strategies.</li>
<li>Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a senior-level advisor.</li>
<li>Anticipate and mitigate risks, proactively addressing challenges before they escalate.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with industry best practices, budget/timeline, and contractual obligations.</li>
<li>Serve as an escalation point for project roadblocks, providing guidance and resolution strategies.</li>
<li>Promote continuous learning and professional development within the project management team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence</li>
<li>Act as the primary liaison for executive-level client communications, ensuring transparency and alignment.</li>
<li>Manage and negotiate project scope, contracts, and change orders to balance client needs and business objectives.</li>
<li>Drive stakeholder engagement and ensure satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.</li>
<li>Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and HR to support company-wide initiatives.</li>
<li>Assist with resource planning, invoicing, and project financial management.</li>
<li>Participate in company thought leadership initiatives, including presentations and industry discussions.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>
