Description
The Project Superintendent can run standalone multi-craft projects up to $10 Million dollars. The Project Superintendent is responsible for supporting and assisting the Project Lead with the overall craft management of a large or small construction project. They will manage at a minimum the safety, quality, labor, material, scope, client interaction, and overall execution of all disciplines.
To successfully manage their work, they must have a thorough understanding of the industry&rsquo;s best practices and codes for their craft.
Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

General:
<ul>
<li>7 years of experience in a specific craft</li>
<li>History of working successfully as a Sr. Craft Superintendent.</li>
<li>Proven ability to work collaboratively and execute independently, maintain excellent rapport with team members</li>
<li>Communication, planning, organization and delegation skills.</li>
<li>Read and understand contract documents, project drawings, specifications, technical data, assembly methods, and O&amp;M manuals</li>
<li>Understand local ordinances, contractor licensing and city and county permitting requirements</li>

<li>Knowledge of overall project financial principles to quantify costs and benefits to allow for correct decision making</li>

<li>Ability to make project decisions related to the safety of all employees including sitewide stop work</li>
<li>Support or lead safety training meetings and sessions</li>
<li>Submit purchase requests for craft specific safety consumables (goggles, gloves, etc.)</li>
<li>Support and lead additional safety practices: Supervisor audits, Craft observations, Safety Leadership Meetings</li>
<li>Lead and train to the Strobel planning/JSA process for your crews</li>
<li>Lead the morning stretch /flex and morning gang box meetings</li>
<li>Ensure your crews report ALL safety events such as near misses, incidents, good catches, etc.</li>
</ul>
Quality:
<ul>
<li>Understand and lead Strobel&rsquo;s Corporate Quality Plan and develop/assist in site specific quality plan</li>
<li>Read, understand, and distribute contract drawings and specifications to all field leadership</li>
<li>Read, understand, and ensure that the site quality plan is communicated, and all inspections and quality documentation is being completed on time and assembled for final turn-over</li>
<li>Identify and fulfill all client and 3rd party inspections</li>
<li>Inspect crews work for compliance with company, contract, and code requirements</li>
<li>Identify deficiencies, explain and take any corrective action needed</li>
<li>Identify inconsistencies between industry best practices and specifications/drawings and provide value engineering through the request for information (RFI) process</li>
<li>Ensure that your crew is qualified to perform their work and have the appropriate certifications/license to execute their work.</li>
</ul>
Productivity:
<ul>
<li>Understand the project assigned work and budgets and meet or beat the budgeted man-hours.</li>
<li>Ensure direct reports are executing effective Gang box meetings which assign/align the performance goals for their crews and ensure they are &ldquo;tools on&rdquo; and working within 20 minutes of the start time.</li>
<li>Review direct reports&rsquo; daily goal cards the day prior to ensure they are complete and accurate</li>
<li>Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed in any of these areas.</li>
<li>Follow the Strobel planning process; update master schedule, complete/review 3-week look ahead schedules and review 1 week look ahead, daily goal cards, JSAs and task planning.</li>
<li>Perform and lead major task planning sessions to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of work assigned.</li>
<li>Listen to employee's and supervisor's suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each, then devise and implement a plan based on information gathered.</li>
<li>Plan and communicate to ensure that an adequate supply of tools, materials and equipment is available for upcoming work identified on the 3-week schedule.</li>
</ul>
Leadership:
<ul>
<li>Ability to function as the Project Leader

What We&rsquo;re Looking For:
<ul>
<li>Experience:
<ul><li>8+ years of Project Superintendent experience required</li>
<li>Commercial construction experience working for a general contractor (GC) is required</li>
<li>Experience leading, developing, and mentoring a team</li>
<li>Experience in senior living, student housing, hospitality, condominium, and/or other lived in product type construction is desired</li>
</ul></li><li>Skills:
<ul><li>Ability to read/interpret construction documents</li>
<li>Knowledge of construction methods and materials</li>

A Job Superintendent could oversee and perform tasks in multiple job sites, simultaneously, and manage the manpower sometimes with the assistance of a Foreman. The Job Superintendent must always ensure a safe and efficient workplace. This position is responsible for the coordination of tasks for their employees according to current project needs, produce schedules for team members, and supervise the use of machinery. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
(&ldquo;Incidental&rdquo; job duties may be included but must be indicated. Other essential and incidental job duties may be assigned) 

<ul>
<li>Coordinate with General Superintendent/Field Superintendent and/or Project Manager to schedule job tasks and equipment.</li>
<li>Coordinate daily tasks and schedules with the Foreman according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel.</li>
<li>Continually provide updates to the Field Superintendent and Canyon Management on project status and communicate any needs at the job site.</li>
<li>Must review and comprehend project proposals, scope of work, job schedule and Canyon durations throughout the project, submittals, and continually review all drawings including all RFIs/ASIs and all shop drawings.</li>
<li>Responsible to review both Surveyors layout and Canyon&rsquo;s layout to ensure consistency and identify any potential problems.</li>
<li>Required to write and submit at the jobsite a Daily Report summarizing the day&rsquo;s activities and must submit a daily report in the Canyon internal system with the same information.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Develop and present a two week look ahead for the project at the weekly internal scheduling meeting.</li>
<li>Responsible to place concrete/stone orders to vendors for each job task.</li>
<li>Responsible for ordering slab packages and miscellaneous material orders through Canyon website as necessary.</li>
<li>Responsible to submit paperwork for all material delivery tickets w/cost coding on a daily.</li>
<li>Responsible for having truck maintenance up to date (at Canyon&rsquo;s shop) and maintaining tool inventory and upkeep (repaired/maintenance by Canyon or others).</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ensure weekly safety toolbox talks are held with emphasis on worksite safety and safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment.</li>
<li>Ensure that daily huddles are held each day to include stretch and flex, hazard analysis, daily work assignments and equipment checklists are reviewed.</li>
<li>Required to attend jobsite Foreman meetings prepared to provide input for scheduling and coordination of other trades and be prepared to make timely decisions for jobsite progress.</li>
<li>Develop and oversee safety/ quality standards on the job site.</li>
<li>Perform pre-pour checklist on the job site.</li>
<li>Resolve problems with projects, materials, and employees as they arise.</li>
<li>Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Attend monthly job production meetings w/General Superintendent/Field Superintendent and PM to review progress of job.</li>
<li>Build and develop trusting relationships with current customers and seek to identify opportunities to grow our customer base and build positive relationships.</li>

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

<ul>
<li>7+ years' experience in the concrete construction industry.</li>
<li>Prior experience managing 7 or more employees on a job site.</li>
<li>Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others.</li>
<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li>
<li>Excellent organizational and leadership skills.</li>
<li>Strong problem-solving abilities.</li>
<li>OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.</li>
<li>CPR required.</li>
<li>Bilingual English/Spanish is a PLUS</li></ul>
