Yeshiva University announces its new College of Dental Medicine and is hiring a new faculty and staff to support the school. The curriculum will integrate Digital Dentistry techniques to be taught by today's dental thought leaders and master clinicians. The school plans to provide a unique 36-month dental education program through an innovative &quot;Block&quot; style curriculum, which will ensure in-depth learning and understanding. The Dental Assistant Complex Prosthodontics provides chairside clinical support to prosthodontic faculty within the dental school clinics. This role performs four-handed dental assisting during advanced restorative and prosthodontic procedures, prepares and maintains treatment operatories, and ensures compliance with infection control, radiation safety, and clinical safety standards. Reporting to the Director of Clinic, the dental assistant works closely with prosthodontists and clinical staff to ensure treatment rooms are properly prepared and procedures are supported safely and efficiently. 
 
This position performs patient care duties within a clinical environment structured around a block-style curriculum, designed to support efficient delivery of treatment while advancing the educational mission of the dental school. In this model, students participate in focused clinical learning experiences while faculty provide direct patient care. The Dental Assistant plays a vital role in supporting advanced restorative and prosthodontic care, assisting with procedures ranging from crowns and bridges to full-arch treatment. Working within a higher-level clinical environment, the dental assistant collaborates directly with the prosthodontist and clinical team in the management of complex restorative cases in accordance with institutional, state, and federal regulatory standards. 
 
Position Responsibilities: 
 
 
<ul><li>Prepare treatment rooms and verify procedural setups for scheduled prosthodontic procedures.</li>
<li>Ensure operatories are clean, organized, and properly equipped.</li>
<li>Set up dental equipment, instruments, and restorative materials prior to procedures.</li>
<li>Coordinate with the sterilization department to ensure instruments are available.</li>
<li>Prepare patients for prosthodontic procedures and proper operatory positioning.</li>
<li>Obtain digital radiographs according to clinical protocols.</li>
<li>Assist the prosthodontist using four-handed dentistry techniques.</li>
<li>Assist the prosthodontist in advanced clinical procedures, including crowns, bridges, dentures, implants, and full-arch treatment.</li>
<li>Anticipate the needs of the prosthodontist and provide instruments and materials as needed.</li>
<li>Monitor patient well-being during procedures.</li>
<li>Maintain a sterile clinical environment throughout procedures.</li>
<li>Ensure required clinical verification and treatment documentation protocols are completed.</li>
<li>Break down operatories and prepare treatment rooms for subsequent procedures.</li>
<li>Sterilize and process instruments according to infection control standards.</li>
<li>Dispose of sharps and hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA regulations.</li>
<li>Assist with inventory management of prosthodontic instruments, implant components, and restorative supplies.</li>
<li>Report equipment issues or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.</li>
<li>Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and oxygen systems.</li>
<li>Conduct routine audits of emergency medical carts.</li>
<li>Assist faculty during medical emergencies according to clinic protocols.</li>
<li>Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA patient privacy standards.</li>
<li>Perform additional duties as assigned to support prosthodontic clinical operations.</li>
<li>Prosthodontic-Specific Clinical Support</li>
<li>Assist with digital impressions, intraoral scanning, and traditional impressions for prosthodontic procedures.</li>
<li>Prepare prosthodontic materials and components for crowns, bridges, implant restorations, and full-arch prostheses.</li>
<li>Assist during prosthodontic try-in appointments, including framework try-ins, wax try-ins, and final prosthesis delivery.</li>
<li>Coordinate with the dental laboratory regarding prosthetic cases, materials, and prescriptions.</li>
<li>Maintain organization of prosthodontic cases, including implant components, restorative parts, and laboratory documentation.</li> 
</ul> 
 
Experience &amp; Education Background: 
<ul><li>Associate degree (AS) preferred, or high school diploma / GED with dental assisting experience.</li>
<li>Experience in Prosthodontics Required.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of prosthodontic and implant procedures.</li>
<li>Excellent communication and organizational skills.</li>
<li>7-10 years of oral surgery and dental assisting experience.</li>
<li>Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) - New York State.</li>
<li>IV sedation assisting certification with 7-10 years of IV sedation experience required.</li>
<li>Must hold DANB RHS certification and be certified in nitrous oxide (NO) administration.</li>
<li>Active BLS / CPR certification.</li>

Position Summary:
The prosthodontic exam performer works (PEP) under a dentist&rsquo;s supervision to perform prosthodontic exams to be used for implant treatment planning. Additionally, the PEP works closely with the Patient Education Consultants to ensure that world-class patient care is delivered. Some other responsibilities may include sophisticated functions such as removing sutures, processing x-rays and taking the oral impressions that are used to fit crowns. Previous hygienist experience is desired.
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Support and assist PEC&rsquo;s in patient treatment acceptance</li><li>
Work collaboratively with all doctors and clinical staff to ensure patient adherence to treatment plan, including all appropriate medical clearances, interventions, and treatment goals including self-management goals.</li><li>
Perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties, including but not limited to providing chair-side assistance while dentists examine and treat patients</li><li>
Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x rays, and process x-ray film as directed by a dentist.</li><li>
Support and assist the dental and surgical assistants as needed, including but not limited to cleaning trays, room setups and cleanups.</li><li>
Ensure patients are as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records.</li><li>
Review Prosth Evaluation paperwork, consents, and medical history with the patient.</li><li>
Complete needs assessment of high risk patients.</li><li>
Manage medical clearances and/or follow up on patients who may have delayed treatment</li><li>
Review, coordinate, and collaborate with front office, Prosthodontist, and Oral Surgeon about patients health, needs, lab script, and treatment plan finalization</li><li>
Review and clarify medication with patients, along with clarifying medication intake with patient&rsquo;s medical doctors and any other health history concerns</li><li>
Communicate appropriately to patients and families regarding treatment</li><li>
Participate, as needed, in the marketing efforts for your Center to increase patient lead generation</li><li>
Obtain dental records including, not limited to: impressions, x-rays, intra and extra oral pictures, Bite registration and face bow as instructed by the Dentist</li><li>
Obtain medical records and health registration (conditions, medications, allergies, etc.)</li><li>
Educate patients on treatment plans, phases, consent forms, pre op and post op instructions.</li><li>
Correspond with other Doctors and physicians to obtain patient medical clearances as needed.</li><li>
Assist with other patient appointments as instructed by Dentist</li><li>
Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Working Conditions:<ul><li>
Dental assistants work in a well-lighted, clean environment.</li><li>
Work area is usually near the dental chair to allow for arranging instruments, materials, and medication and handing them to the dentist when needed.</li><li>
Dental assistants must wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to protect themselves and their patients from infectious diseases.</li><li>
Follow safety procedures to minimize the risks associated with the use of x-ray machines.</li></ul>
