Job Description:

Job Summary: Reporting to the Manager of Admissions, the Admissions Clinician provides clinical review of cases referred for admission to the inpatient behavioral health units, clinical acceptance of admissions and coordinates the admission process for accepted patients. Communicates with referring agencies and hospitals. Identifies cases in need of medical review and works closely with the Doctor on Call to obtain that review. Provides triage and assessment of walk-in patients to an appropriate setting for further assessment. Primary Responsibilities: Clinically reviews the electronic medical record or clinical referral paperwork received for referrals from other hospitals and other referral sources to identify patients appropriate for admission to one of the inpatient behavioral health units. Reviews cases as needed with a manager, senior leadership, or the administrator on call. Identifies cases in need of medical review and facilitates review by the Doctor on Call. Ensures that the electronic admissions board is complete and maintained/updated throughout each shift, as needed. Ensures that every effort is made to obtain insurance verification and pre-authorization prior to admission for each patient. Maintains effective communication with referral sources Provides brief assessment of &ldquo;walk-in&rdquo; patients who arrive to the hospital to determine if the patient can safely be referred to a Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) or if they require transportation via Section 12. Support and implement administrative decisions. Provides resource information for follow-up to patients who are unexpectedly discharged from the Admissions Department, following an evaluation by the provider in the Admissions Department. Solidly understands and follows the expectations and guidelines of regulatory agencies such as DMH, DPH, Joint Commission, payors, etc. 
 Education, Experience, &amp; Licensing Requirements:

<li>Master&rsquo;s degree in social work, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, counseling, clinical mental health counseling, education (counseling), marriage and family therapy or other related field required</li>

Pay Range:

<div>Our ideal candidate would:</div>
<ul><li>Participate in training to develop TMS skills, if not already experienced.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Commit to at least two in-person clinic days per week for mapping and remapping visits. Our TMS offices are in the Metrowest area and in Weymouth.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Conduct initial patient assessments (in person or via telehealth), confirm diagnoses, and document medical necessity using an AMD template and supporting forms.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Closely oversee the TMS technician, co-sign daily treatment notes, and be readily available for clinical questions.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Monitor patient progress, adjust protocols as needed, and provide discharge summaries to the primary/referring psychiatric clinician. And,</li></ul>
<ul><li>Represent the TMS program to internal and external clinicians, to educate, and coordinate care.</li></ul>

Summary:
The Inpatient Psychiatric Clinician I is conditionally licensed as an LMSW-CC or LCPC-C who provides specialized evidence-based therapeutic care to adult and/or pediatric populations with mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders. The Clinician conducts evaluations, risk assessment, psychosocial evaluations, creates recovery-oriented treatment plans with patients and their families and provides psychotherapy within individual, group and family modalities. As direct care providers they function as skilled advocates, brokers, educators and treatment specialists, are familiar with regional social service provider systems and adept at assisting patients in linking with step down treatment services during discharge planning. They rely on more than one theoretical framework in providing direct patient care and clinical formulations to acute-care populations, are proficient at articulating case reviews and creating documentation that reflects both active treatment provisions and patient responses to care.
Responsibilities :
<ul><li>Assists patients with crisis management, de-escalation and motivational enhancement therapy to increase treatment readiness and engagement in care.
</li><li>Provides crisis management targeting acute symptoms.
</li><li>Works within the interdisciplinary team to develop specific strategies to decrease patient and unit acuity.
