Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.</p><p>
Position is located at Osawatomie State Hospital, days/hours may vary. This position may require you to work weekends. A negative drug screen is required as a condition of employment.</p><p>
All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.</p><p>
Physician will provide on-site psychiatric, and to some extent, medical services. Physician will admit, evaluate, treat patients. Physician will enter required assessment, treatment, and discharge planning documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Physician will enter medication orders on the WinPharm pharmacy system. Physician will actively participate in the individualized multidisciplinary treatment process and discharge planning. Physician will participate in hospital wide performance improvement activities and other medical staff functions as assigned. Physician will prepare court reports in collaboration with the treatment team and will attend court hearings as expert witness.</p><p>
The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.</p><p></p><p><b>

The selected candidate will provide direct comprehensive, quality psychiatric treatment to adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses. The incumbent is the clinical supervisor of the multidisciplinary treatment team and supervises the psychologists on the unit.</div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p>
Our Attending Psychiatrist serves as the supervisor for psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychiatric physician assistants as well as psychiatry residents and other trainees. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the formulation and development of multidisciplinary treatment plans, comprehensive psychopharmacologic assessments and treatments, comprehensive diagnostic and risk evaluations and formulations.</p><p>
Patients are treated by a multidisciplinary team, that also includes psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, mental health workers, occupational therapists and rehabilitative staff specializing in vocational, recreational, and expressive therapies.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
