The Department of Health and Human Services has been improving the health of the Long Beach community for over a century, and Long Beach is one of only three municipal health jurisdictions in the State of California, as well as one of three City homeless continuums of care in Los Angeles County. The Department recently received public health reaccreditation and works to address matters of public health and safety, including communicable disease, strengthening the public safety net, and equitable access to care. Of the Department&rsquo;s $170 million budget, more than 80% comes from grant funding. The Department is overseen by the Director of Health and Human Services and has more than 55 programs serving the health and wellness of the City. It is organized into seven bureaus&mdash;Community Health, Communicable Disease and Emergency Response, Collective Impact, Environmental Health, Homeless Services, the Housing Authority, and Administrative and Financial Services. The Department of Library, Arts and Culture primarily oversees the Long Beach Public Library system. The department&rsquo;s mission has recently expanded to include Cultural Affairs for the City.</p><p>
The Long Beach Public Library is made up of 12 libraries, including two signature flagship libraries that were built within the past 15 years. LBPL operates with a fiscal year 2025 budget of approximately $21 million and 200 dedicated staff, and is one of 15 departments administered by the City Manager. Since 1986, LBPL has provided free and equal access to information, education, and community, enabling access to hundreds of thousands of titles and an impressive selection of digital content, books, movies, music, audio books, and more. It supports lifelong learning and academic and career success and works to close the digital divide, support childhood literacy, provide various health services, and create transformative community experiences. The LBPL system has received accolades attesting to its innovation and continued success, particularly at the Billie Jean King Main Library, Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library, and Mark Twain Neighborhood Library. THE POSITION</b><br>
Under the direction of the Library Director, the Cultural Affairs Officer is an at-will employee who manages the City-wide Cultural Affairs engagement and programmatic efforts as part of the Department of Library, Arts and Culture. The Cultural Affairs Officer will make connections with City and community leaders, build relationships with cultural center and Long Beach Arts Council leadership, research the relationship of the City with community cultural centers, cultural districts, and the Long Beach Arts Council, and supports cultural programs and activities within the Department of Library, Arts and Culture. The position oversees one Clerk-Typist III.</p><p>
This is a new position, and we anticipate growth in this Division in forthcoming years, expanding the role of library services in support of the growth of arts and culture sector in Long Beach and ensuring equitable access to arts and culture throughout the city.</p></div><p></p>

The Senior Graphic Designer reports to the Chief Public Affairs Officer and is responsible for developing brand assets, managing the creative process, and producing a high volume of finished products. <div><div><div>The Civilian Complaint Review Board (&ldquo;CCRB&rdquo;) is charged with investigating, mediating, and prosecuting complaints which members of the public file against New York City police officers alleging the use of force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, offensive language, untruthful statements made by officers, and racial profiling and biased policing. The Board consists of 15 members who are appointed by the Mayor, the City Council and Public Advocate or designated by the police commissioner. The Board is responsible for governing the agency. The Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the agency. As the largest police oversight agency in the United States, the CCRB currently investigates approximately 4,500 complaints each year.<br>

The CCRB&rsquo;s Administrative Prosecution Unit prosecutes cases in which the CCRB Board substantiated a complaint and recommended that charges be brought against the subject officer. Currently, the unit is headed by a Chief Prosecutor and two Deputy Chief Prosecutors; and staffed with ten prosecutors; a Supervising Trial Preparation Assistant and two Trial Preparation Assistants; and two Administrative Assistants. The Trial Preparation Assistant will report to the APU's Chief Prosecutor, Deputy Chief Prosecutor and Supervising Trial Preparation Assistant.<br>

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:<br>

<ul><li>Assist attorneys in all aspects of trials</li><li>Compile and analyze documents</li><li>Prepare electronic and paper discovery</li><li>Redact audio recordings and documents</li><li>Order and proofread transcripts</li><li>Proofread written communications</li><li>Act as a liaison among internal departments and outside agencies</li><li>Order outstanding paperwork</li><li>Assist in gathering evidence</li><li>Communicate with witnesses and assist in witness preparation</li><li>Assist in the preparation and filing of all court documents</li><li>Coordinate trial set-up and logistics</li><li>Enter case information into the APU Application</li><li>Obtain officer disciplinary information</li><li>Handle all mail that is delivered to Chief Prosecutor, Deputy Chief Prosecutor and other APU staff</li><li>Maintain communication with the Police Department</li><li>Keep attorney calendars</li><li>Deliver and pick up items from the New York City Police Department and other locations</li><li>Assist attorneys&rsquo; with field work</li><li>Prepare trial exhibits and binders</li><li>Attend disciplinary trials/hearings</li></ul><br>

What does a Director of Public Relations & Government Affairs do at Swire Coca – Cola?
<br>Working in a multi-state geography, the Director will support our business operations by raising the company's visibility, building and maintaining key relationships, and growing our government affairs capabilities. As a member of the Public Relations and Government Affairs team, the director will report to the vice president of the function. The Director will be a key external facing position. The Director will represent and protect the company's interests with local, state and federal officials, customers, trade associations and community partners. The position requires a dynamic leader equipped with excellent communications skills who understands political and legislative implications of Company and industry actions. The director will operate in a highly polarized and charged environment and must balance the different actors and actions within the political spectrum. The Director will provide on-the-ground crisis and incident management to impacted territories. Additionally, the Director will serve as media spokesperson, as needed
<br>Responsibilities
<br><ul>
<li>Build, preserve and improve relationships with key government agencies and officials, industry associations and NGOs, main community opinion leaders, as well as with other relevant constituencies in order to be able to shape their perceptions of Swire Coca-Cola</li>
<li>Develop ongoing relationships with key elected officials, including identifying up-and-coming leaders. Network with industry, customer and other relevant peers for information gathering and relationship building</li>
<li>Provide strategic counsel to industry campaigns, lobbyists and consultants on company’s positions on outside threats, including tax and regulatory threats, derogatory labeling legislation, and other legislative, regulatory and public policy challenges</li>
<li>Participate in training and business team meetings to align with operational objectives and provide public relations and government relations perspective</li>
<li>Recommend, activate, track and report on suggested memberships, contributions and other community participation by the Company</li>
<li>Monitor key local and national media outlets for coverage impacting or of interest to the company. Provide strategy on proactive media outreach and reactive response plans</li>
<li>Serve as media spokesperson, as needed</li>
<li>Provide crisis and incident management support to all parts of the business</li>
<li>Be accountable for ongoing public relations and community relations activities in assigned geography</li>

Requirements
<br><ul>
<li>Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Political Science, Communications or similar field required</li>
<li>6+ years experience working in Government Relations, Public Affairs, Public Relations, and/or on staff with an elected official required</li>
<li>Significant political campaign experience (candidate, party, issue, ballot initiative, etc.) preferred</li>
<li>In depth knowledge of the political landscape of assigned geography</li>
<li>Relationships with key stakeholders in assigned geography</li>
<li>Understanding of legislative and regulatory process</li>
<li>Knowledge of election process</li>
<li>Crisis management</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal and communications skills</li>
<li>Ability to identify and take advantage of new opportunities, best practices and potential partnerships taking into consideration business objectives and key stakeholders’ expectations</li>
<li>The capability to establish and build solid relationships with relevant audiences at all management levels</li>
