FVRLibraries is seeking a full-time Senior Public Services Librarian, with .8 FTE at Yacolt Library and .2 FTE at Battleground Library. The Senior Public Services Librarian will primarily focus on children's/youth services while providing a full range of information and program services to patrons of all ages in person, and by phone, email, and chat. Respond to reference and reader&rsquo;s advisory questions. Help patrons locate information and materials and use related technology. Create, develop, plan and implement programs. Instruct patrons in use of the full range of library technology. Develop and maintain effective relationships with schools and community groups. Promote library services and present programs both in and outside of the library.</p><p>
The essential functions of this position include:</p><ul><li><div>
Provide general and specialized reference, reader&rsquo;s advisory and material selection assistance to library patrons; research and answer complex questions, including those referred by other staff; provide instructions to patrons regarding library catalog searching, computer use, technology and use of personal information device</div></li><li><div>
Troubleshoot problems as necessary; provide guidance and support to other staff in reference, reader&rsquo;s advisory, programming, technology use and outreach.</div></li><li><div>
Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate branch and community programs for specific age groups or all patrons.</div></li><li><div>
Supervise assigned staff; assign and review work; mentor, evaluate and provide performance feedback to staff, volunteers and substitutes; participate in the interview and hiring process.</div></li><li><div>

Coordinate and participate in community outreach activities, represent the library in the community, and cultivate community partnerships.</div></li><li><div>
Collaborate with district coordinators and other staff to evaluate services and develop and implement new services, technologies, and initiatives.</div></li><li><div>
Promote library use and services to public, community and patrons through presentations, programs and marketing activities.</div></li><li><div>

Compensation &amp; Benefits</b></div><div></div><div><br>
This position earns between $29.60/hr and $44.40/hr. To be considered for a starting salary above the pay grade minimum, candidates must exceed the minimum experience requirements listed above.</div><div></div><div><br>

About the Role</b></p><p>
As the <b>Youth Services Librarian</b>, you will be responsible for planning and implementing dynamic and engaging programs for children, teens, and families. This includes Storytimes, afterschool programs, bilingual/multicultural programs, and the Summer Reading Program. You will manage the branch's youth materials collection and promote library services through outreach to schools, parent groups, daycare providers, and community organizations.</p><p>
In addition to programming, you will assist with customer service, collection development, technology assistance, and other library functions. The Youth Services Librarian may also be expected to assume responsibility for the operation of the branch in the absence of the branch manager and/or site supervisor and will assist with other library functions including customer service, technology assistance, collection development and maintenance, and reader's advisory. This position includes the responsibility of opening and closing the facility on specified days, nights, and weekends; and includes ensuring that the library environment is conducive for excellent customer service (i.e. reporting equipment problems, leaks, outages, etc. to Manager or supervisor).
