Position Title: Road Design Engineer Department: Roads &amp; Highways / Design Reports to: Senior Road Engineer / Infrastructure Design Manager Location: Qatar Availability: Add if needed: Must be available to join immediatelyPosition Overview:The Road Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality design for roads, highways, and associated infrastructure in accordance with Qatar standards and international best practices. This role is fully design-oriented within a consultant environment, covering geometric design, pavement design, utilities coordination, and preparation of technical engineering deliverables.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Develop concept, preliminary, and detailed designs for roads and highways, including:</li><li>Horizontal &amp; vertical alignment</li><li>Cross sections</li><li>Intersections &amp; roundabouts</li><li>Road corridors &amp; earthworks</li><li>Sight distance analysis</li><li>Prepare drawings, design reports, BOQs, specifications, and calculations.</li><li>Perform pavement design and evaluation as required.</li><li>Use design software such as Civil 3D, MX Road/OpenRoads, AutoCAD.</li><li>Ensure designs comply with Ashghal (PWA) standards, Qatar Highway Design Manual (QHDM), QCS, and relevant international codes.</li><li>Coordinate with utility, structural, geotechnical, and drainage teams to ensure integrated designs.</li><li>Conduct design reviews and support technical submissions for authorities.</li><li>Prepare presentations, design basis statements, and tender deliverables.</li><li>Review work prepared by CAD/BIM technicians to ensure accuracy and quality.</li><li>Participate in technical meetings and respond to design queries.</li></ul>Qualifications &amp; Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master&rsquo;s preferred).</li><li>Minimum 7&ndash;10 years of experience in road/highway design within a consultancy/design office.</li><li>Strong expertise in geometric design using Civil 3D / MX Road.</li><li>Familiarity with Ashghal, QHDM, and Qatar standards (mandatory for Qatar roles).</li><li>Experience preparing complete design packages for tenders and IFC.</li><li>Good understanding of pavement design principles.</li><li>Strong knowledge of design coordination with wet/dry utilities.</li></ul>Job Type: Full-time

This position will directly supervise all departments on the railroad including but not limited to, trainmasters, supervisors, and hourly team members in the departments of operations, locomotive, car repair and maintenance of way. This position will also have responsibility for the facilitation of dispatching, customer support, finances, and billing. The President of Southwestern Railroad is also responsible for helping to maintain the ONETEAM culture by fostering a pleasant work environment, ensuring high levels of organizational effectiveness, and communication.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: &#8203;<ul><li>Achieve performance goals with optimum safety, economy, efficiency, and effectiveness ensuring profitability of all departments.</li><li>Establish and drive a SAFETY culture with unwavering support</li><li>Establish operating budgets based on yearly projections.</li><li>Establish methods of ongoing controlled surveillance of both the quantitative and financial measurements. Quantitative measurements will be compared to goals and budgeted financial projections will be compared to actual performance by month.</li><li>Controlling expenses in all areas of the operation. This will entail routine evaluation of railroad requirements, capital improvement projects to maximize efficiency.
