The primary purpose of the part-time, student Ramper position is to assist in the day-to-day operations of the department in the performance of (but not limited to) the following tasks:

Performing ramp services such as aircraft detailing and cleaning, sweeping, snow removal, servicing tie downs, and performing other tasks as assigned in an effort to reduced potential damage hazards to training aircraft.<br>
<br>
Assisting with aircraft movement in and out of maintenance hangar, the aircraft ramp areas, assisting with aircraft tie downs and covering daily to ensure safety and security and limit damage risk to aircraft.<br>
<br>
Other duties as assigned.</p>
<p><b>
Minimum Qualifications:</b></p>
<ul>
<li>Actively pursuing an aviation-related degree</li>
<li>Introductory Ground Operations and Safety Course or combination training and experience.</li>
<li>To be eligible for student employment, an applicant must:<br>
a. Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment;<br>
or<br>
b. Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters;<br>
and<br>
c. Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or approval from the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs or their designee.</li>

<p><b>Position Details:</b></p>

This position is located on the Aviation Technology Complex at Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage, AK. Pay is $15.57/hour. Successful candidates will be scheduled up to 20 hours per week during the academic year (spring/fall) while classes are in session and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.</p>

Under general supervision, dispense fuel into transient and based aircraft; marshal, park, and reposition aircraft; perform daily inspections of airfield pavement, lighting, and NAVAIDS; observe airfield activity to assist in enforcing airport rules, regulations and minimum standards; and environmental guidelines are followed. Report and disseminate information regarding airport activities and facility conditions, safety and hazards, ensure safe and secure airport environment and information services to the public.<br>

<b>Essential Functions</b></p><br>

Provide excellent customer service. First point of contact with tenants, transient pilots and passengers, and general public.</li><li>
Marshall aircraft and maintain/organize ramp parking.</li><li>
Provide services such as refueling, ground start, and lavatory servicing for aircraft.</li><li>
Daily maintain fuel storage area and fuel trucks. Receive fuel shipments from supplier.</li><li>
Airfield and facility maintenance including: mowing, airfield lighting repair, FOD inspection, routine equipment maintenance..</li><li>
FBO duties to include, Point of Sale interaction with patrons, assemble daily sales transactions, custodial duties, monitor UNICOM radio and issue NOTAM&rsquo;s as necessary.</li><li>
Assist in directing emergency response units during airfield emergencies</li><li>
Attend meetings, training sessions and conferences as required.</li><li>
Weekend and Holiday hours are required on a rotating basis.</li><li>

Ramp Service Agents (RSA) at Pegasus Aviation Services are responsible for marshalling aircraft in the gate, loading, unloading and sorting freight and baggage. RSAs are also responsible for servicing security functions, aircraft lavatories, potable water, push back aircraft from the gate, deicing and other duties as delegated. The RSA position is a support services position whose work routine is established and follows a set of procedures. It generally functions under close supervisory direction or guidance of the Customer Service Reps, Supervisors, or Ramp Managers.</div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Marshall aircraft on the ramp (includes directing, assisting and parking all arriving, departing and towed aircraft).</li><li>
Service aircraft as needed including:<ul><li>
lavatory service.</li><li>
water service.</li><li>
cabin cleaning.</li><li>
other services as needed.</li><li>
Aircraft de-icing / anti-icing.</li></ul></li><li>
Loading and unloading of aircraft baggage and cargo.</li><li>
Perform safe and efficient operations of all ground service equipment.</li><li>
Monitoring Security: Vigilantly observing, inspecting, monitoring, and screening all passengers, airport personnel and crew regularly to detect any potential security breaches or safety hazards.</li><li>
Prevent breaches of security in the area assigned and being prepared to promptly respond to any calls for assistance from the pilot or crew of any aircraft, addressing their concerns and needs swiftly and effectively.</li><li>
Proactively preventing breaches of aviation security and safety within their designated area of responsibility. This includes taking action to mitigate or resolve any security or safety concerns that may arise.</li><li>
Conducting comprehensive security screenings for departing passengers and their baggage. Additionally, performing mobile, foot, and static patrols within assigned areas.</li><li>
Responsible for maintaining safety and security of aircraft.</li><li>
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>Be at least 18 years of age.</li><li>
Must be willing to work in inclement weather.</li><li>
Good communication skills.</li><li>
Must be a U.S. citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S.</li><li>
Ability to lift 60 pounds comfortably.</li><li>
Able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.</li><li>
Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment.</li><li>
Self-motivated, team player.</li><li>
Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.</li><li>
Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history and pre-employment drug test.</li></ul><div><b>

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.</li><li>
RSA&rsquo;s routinely work outside for a portion and are exposed to all types of weather conditions.</li><li>

Requirements
