Join Reading Corps as a Reading Tutor and you&rsquo;ll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their skills. We&rsquo;ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!<div></div> 
How does it work? Every school day you&rsquo;ll see pairs of students for 20 minutes of reading practice. When your time together is up, you&rsquo;ll help your students return to their classroom(s) and pick up your next pair for tutoring. You&rsquo;ll repeat until all your students are served.<div></div>

Essential Qualifications</div><div></div> 
By the time you begin your service with Reading Corps, you should be:<ul><li>
Dependable and have a history of good attendance</li><li>
Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback</li><li>
Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)</li><li>
Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing</li><li>
18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent</li><li>
A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States</li><li>
Able to successfully complete a background check</li></ul>

Schedule</div>
We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run August 2026&ndash;June 2027.<ul><li>
35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)</li><li>
Daytime hours (corresponding with school start and end times)</li><li>
Monday-Friday (no weekends)</li><li>
Time off on holidays and school release days</li></ul><div></div> 
Part-time positions are also available at 25 and 15 hours per week!
AmeriCorps positions include a total service-hour commitment for the program year. Most hours are completed through regular site-based service; members work with program staff to plan their schedule and may occasionally complete approved service or training outside of the school day as needed.<div></div><div>

What You Will Do: Provide small-group or 1:1 reading/math tutoring to students developing literacy skills Implement Braintrust Tutors intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence Use the provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities What You Will Have: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Active/expired teaching license or at least 5 years of experience working with K-8 students in an educational environment (READING) Experience with reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence. (MATH) Knowledge of math instruction that builds number sense, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills, with a scope and sequence ranging from counting to multi-digit arithmetic, including decimals and fractions. Strong classroom management and communication skills Comfort collaborating with teachers and staff Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions Reliable transportation and/or appropriate technology for instruction Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps Next Steps! For in-person engagements, if you meet our criteria, we will invite you to a live 30-minute interview with a recruiter before beginning your onboarding. Braintrust Tutors has a multi-step onboarding process requiring approximately 3&ndash;4 hours to complete. You will create a Braintrust Learning Center account, complete self-paced policy and curriculum modules for your chosen subject areas (Math, Foundational Reading, and/or Advanced Reading), set up your platform profile with required documents, submit to a background check and fingerprinting (if applicable to your assigned district), attend live Zoom curriculum practice sessions, submit teaching demonstration recordings, and apply to positions. Once matched, you will complete platform orientation and attend a Launch Call before beginning sessions. All resources are housed in the Braintrust Learning Center.
