<div><p>The Nevada State Library, Archives &amp; Public Records is seeking a Reference Librarian in the Carson City area to provide professional reference services, support public access to collections, and contribute to the library&rsquo;s online and digital initiatives. Working as part of the Access Services team and reporting to the Access Services Manager, this position serves as the library&rsquo;s primary professional reference lead, providing advanced research assistance using NSLAPR collections, including government documents, archival materials, digital resources, maps, and other specialized materials. Responsibilities include service desk coverage, assisting patrons with complex inquiries, and guiding users in effective search strategies, resource evaluation, and discovery tools. Beyond reference work, the librarian coordinates the library&rsquo;s public-facing web presence related to library collections and services. Responsibilities include maintaining Access Services webpages, guides, and finding aids; serving as the point of contact for staff website onboarding, accounts, and permissions; and supporting the usability, consistency, and accessibility of public-facing library content in alignment with institutional standards. While individual units are responsible for maintaining their own content, this position provides coordination and support for shared web access points. Duties

Position Summary</b></p><p>
Under the general supervision of the Adult Services Librarian or the Area Manager, the Librarian performs professional-level library services and works both independently and with other staff to execute small to large-scale initiatives. This position works on a team of librarians directed by the Adult Services Librarian and/or Outreach Coordinator to develop innovative approaches for a variety of library programs and services. Assistance with the circulation desk will be conducted as needed.</p><p><b>
Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>
Provides reference and reader&rsquo;s advisory assistance in person and via the organization&rsquo;s adopted book lists format.</li><li>
Provides technology and computer help to patrons, including expert-level assistance with the library&rsquo;s digital collection platforms.</li><li>
Continually researches the various needs of the adult community served and evaluates data to design relevant, easily accessible resources and programs for the service population, in collaboration with the Adult Services team.</li><li>
Provides customer service and information services in alignment with the organization&rsquo;s standard of excellence.</li><li>
Supports systemwide goals and initiatives.</li><li>
Understands current library trends and best practices and appropriately integrates these ideas into the daily work in the Adult Services Department.</li><li>
Communicates often and effectively with direct supervisor and Adult Services Coordinator.</li><li>
Evaluates basic statistical data and prepares basic statistical reports and surveys for the library and other entities (i.e. local government).
</li><li>Provides equitable and excellent customer service to all age levels.</li><li>
Competent and comfortable at all branch service points (children's, teen, circulation, and reference)</li><li>
Performs outreach activities to local schools, community agencies, and organizations, in conjunction with the Outreach Department.

</li><li>Serves on committees and, at times, may serve as the chairperson for committees.

JCLS has a 16-step salary schedule with each step at 1.5%. The starting salary will be based on steps 1-5 on Grade N of the schedule. New hires are placed based on applicable education and experience to the job, as well as keeping within Oregon state pay equity laws. The starting range for this position is $28.31 to $30.08 per hour or $29,442 to $31,283 per year. Staff members who pass a Spanish language or American Sign Language competency test are eligible for a Bilingual Stipend per JCLS policy.</p><p><b>
