Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Medical Clinic Director, participate as an essential team member in the Medical Clinic. Assist providers and health care team in direct patient care according to established policies, procedures, and protocols including performing laboratory functions and assisting in direct patient care, medical procedures, patient education. Assist with administrative/clerical responsibilities as needed. All Nimkee staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Receive and greets patients, directing and assisting them to triage and examination areas.</li>
<li>Assess patient&rsquo;s vital signs, history of present illness (HPI), review of systems, family history and medical needs due. Record findings in E.H.R. and alert Primary Care Provider (PCP) to any abnormal findings.</li>
<li>Assist Medical Provider with paperwork and completion of paperwork; request outside reports from the ER, Urgent Care, and outside providers to ensure continuity of care and transition planning.</li>
<li>Collect blood (by venipuncture or finger stick), urine, stool and other specimens, throat cultures and sputum specimens as requested by provider and with adherence to established policies, procedures and precautions.</li>
<li>Complete laboratory requests and properly label laboratory specimens.</li>
<li>Complete Point of Care Testing Controls according to guidelines.</li>

<li>Triage phone calls from patients to provider, schedule appropriate appointments as required</li>
<li>Prioritize and address all tasks within 24-48 business hours, no longer than 72 business hours</li>
<li>Request prior authorizations for referrals/testing/medications from insurance as required.</li>
<li>Chart Prep: Review next day&rsquo;s schedule; retrieve, organize and prepare patient charts, and make other preparations to ensure we have everything needed for the visit.</li>
<li>Participate in Medical Clinic staff meetings, and other meetings and/or committees as assigned. Make appropriate suggestions on how to improve care, and remain actively involved in quality improvement efforts.</li>
<li>Maintain current treatment modalities by participating in continuing education.</li>
<li>Provide patient/family education and follow up instructions regarding patient treatment.</li>
<li>Adhere to patient confidentiality and complies with clinic policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).</li>

Candidates must demonstrate competency in patient care and safety practices. Previous experience in a clinic or outpatient setting is preferred but not required. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced clinic environment are essential.

Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. Lifting up to 100 lbs. Carrying up to 40 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching. Occasional stress related to patient load.

 JOB SUMMARY

 Responsible for performing assigned patient care activities and assisting licensed nursing personnel. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, licensed nurse, licensed physician, or designee. Incumbents are subject to overtime and call-back as required by facility. Attendance is an essential function of this job.
