Essential Functions
<ul><li>Assists with patient care related responsibilities as directed by the clinician, including but not limited to preparing supplies/materials for treatment sessions and physically assisting when patients have a physical, communication, or behavioral need.

</li><li>Inventories, orders and ensures that the quantity of supplies and equipment is adequate based the department needs. Orders supplies for routine care as requested by clinicians and leaders. Stocks department rooms.
</li><li>Maintains a clean, organized and safe environment within all treatment areas. Ensures that hallways are free of equipment and supplies. Ensures that supplies are stored in compliance with the Joint Commission standards.
</li><li>Cleans treatment areas, equipment, and treatment materials/toys after each session in collaboration with therapists.
</li><li>Ensures compliance of expiration dates and refrigerator temperatures and takes action to remedy the situation if needed.
</li><li>Responsible for working with clinical engineering department at maintaining missing equipment report.
</li><li>Collects and ensures delivery of instruments and equipment to sterile processing or food services department.
</li><li>Greets patient and family in a welcoming manner, ensuring confidentiality and privacy.

Outpatient Rehab Assistant - Full-time

<div><div>About the unit
We are a 64 bed Inpatient Rehab Unit that sees a variety of patients who need to work on both their functional and medical problems. We treat ortho patients recovering from hip fractures, complex knee replacement, back surgery with neurologic involvement, multi-trauma, and other orthopedic issues. We also see neurology patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord tumors, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Parkinson&rsquo;s, MS, and any cancer diagnosis with functional decline. We also have patients come to our unit who had amputations and other complex medical/surgical issues with functional decline. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the 7-day week. Nursing continues the interventions practiced by the patients in therapy sessions, to continue safe mobility. For many of our patients, Rehab is the key to getting back home with their families. This is a very rewarding unit to work on, as we all get to take part in the progress patients make towards their goal of getting home.

Scope of work
Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
