Purpose of Position
This position is responsible for delivering and/or coordinating services to students and participants with disabilities, overseeing student/participant progress, and ensuring services are delivered according to each student&rsquo;s/participant&rsquo;s plan. The role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including management personnel, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors, other VR Coordinators, and Technical Records Specialists. In addition, this role may act as a liaison with educational institutions, employers, public agencies, community partners, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate student/participant access to pre-employment transition services. The Pre-ETS role also emphasizes hands-on instruction, workshops, and facilitating work-based learning experiences to develop student&rsquo;s skills and prepare them for employment.
Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li><ul><li>Service Delivery &amp; Caseload Coordination : Provide individual and group vocational and career services tailored to student&rsquo;s/participant&rsquo;s strengths and goals, including workshops and activities that develop workplace skills, coordination for a caseload of students/participants, and ensuring timely delivery of services aligned with each student&rsquo;s/participant&rsquo;s Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) and/or Pre-ETS goals.
</li><li>Workplace Readiness Training : Organize and conduct training sessions to enhance job readiness, including resume writing, interview skills, job searching, teamwork, and professional communication.
</li><li>Self-Advocacy Instruction : Coach students/participants on self-advocacy skills, empowering them to understand their rights and effectively communicate their needs in educational and workplace settings.
</li><li>Enrollment Counseling : Support students/participants in exploring educational pathways, providing guidance on enrollment, financial aid, and other resources to facilitate post-secondary success.
</li><li>Collaboration with Partners : Partner with school personnel, employers, and community organizations to ensure students/participants receive necessary supports and accommodations. Participate in IEP meetings to provide relevant updates to educational teams.
</li><li>Job Exploration Counseling : Assist students/participants in identifying career interests, exploring job options, and setting realistic career goals aligned with labor market demands.
</li><li>Work-Based Learning Coordination : Facilitate various hands-on learning opportunities for students/participants such as internships, job shadowing, and mentoring . Collaborate with community partners to create and support these experiences.
</li><li>Progress Monitoring &amp; Student Support Coordination : Maintain accurate documentation of services and student/participant progress, adjusting support in collaboration with the service team as needed and may act as the primary contact for students/participants and families, proactively providing support and engagement throughout the Pre-ETS and IDVR process.
</li><li>Documentation and Compliance : Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and documentation standards. Prepare and submit reports to supervisors and stakeholders.
</li><li>Resource Referrals and Advocacy : Connect students/participants and families with community resources and advocate for access to appropriate supports to promote academic and professional success. Provide follow-up support after placement in work-based learning or employment.
</li><li>Professional Development : Engage in ongoing learning to stay current with best practices, labor market trends, and available resources to enhance service quality.

<div>General Purpose
Responsible for the day-to-day management activities in the rehabilitation department of an assigned facility or facilities. This includes scheduling direct and indirect services to inpatient and outpatient population, management of all rehabilitation personnel, interviewing and recommending new hires, firing, and training of all rehabilitation personnel. The Rehab Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of new programs to meet the needs of the facility and the residents and is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out all assigned duties to provide managerial oversight to the delivery of rehabilitative services. The Rehab Coordinator may not at any time deliver direct treatment to patients.
Essential Duties<ul><li>
Directly manages and guides all rehabilitation personnel, in an assigned facility which would include licensed, registered, certified therapists, assistants, aides and students.</li><li>
Daily Scheduling for the department staff to meet the needs of the facility.</li><li>
Discusses with the therapists of record to determine the scheduling needs of the residents.</li><li>
Periodic review of the rehabilitation services offered and updated to meet the changing environment.</li><li>
Adherence to all regulatory standards as they pertain to the delivery of rehabilitation services.</li><li>
Ensures that all clinical documentation is complete, timely, and accurately reflects the services provided.</li><li>
Conducts periodic department documentation review.</li><li>
Participates in denials management activities of the department to ensure that claims and/or appeals are timely and in accordance with company procedure.</li><li>
Manages department productivity standards as established with supervisor.</li><li>
Ensures that services delivered are of the highest quality and meet all standards of practice.</li><li>
Implements new treatment programs.</li><li>
Monitors treatment programs for outcomes and communicates findings with therapists of record who are responsible for the plan of care.</li><li>
Assures that the rehabilitation department follows the established policies and procedures of the facility.</li><li>
Approves timecards and time worked by the department personnel.</li><li>
Provides input to supervisor on performance of department employees.</li><li>
Consistently in-services all rehabilitation staff regarding safe work practices with emphasis on good body mechanics, safety, and judgement to minimize work related injuries.</li><li>

Must maintain confidentiality of patients&rsquo; information as well as company information.</li><li>
Promotes a positive attitude to staff, within staff, and to community regarding the company, its mission statement, philosophies, and goals.</li><li>
Follows all California Laws and Regulations related to Physical Rehabilitation Manual Article 4 &sect; 1398.44. (The Physical Rehabilitation Assistant) including the following:<ul><li>
May not write progress reports to another health care professional.</li><li>
May not be the sole physical rehabilitation representative in any meeting with other health care professionals where the patient&rsquo;s plan of care is assessed or may be modified.</li><li>
May not supervise a physical rehabilitation aide performing patient-related tasks.</li><li>

Management Requirements
Manages PT/OT/SLP therapists, assistants, aides, and students as per the California Laws and Regulations related to Physical Rehabilitation Manual Article 4 &sect; 1398.44.
Qualification
Education and/or Experience
Associate degree from an accredited PTA program required and Bachelor degree preferred. Proficient in computer skills such as inputting data into programs for Net Health and Point Click Care.
Language Skills
Ability to read technical procedures. Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and
proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed as a Physical Rehabilitation Assistant. Must always maintain a license in good standing with the state board. Employee must meet continuing education requirements per state practices. CPR certification as per licensure requirement.

Responsible for evaluating rehab referrals for appropriateness of admission based on CMS&rsquo; Inpatient Rehab Facility (IRF) Guidelines . Required to complete pre-admission assessment on all patients admitted to the DCH Rehabilitation Pavilion. Completes insurance pre-certification on all patients being admitted with commercial insurance. Insures proper utilization of resources by recommending proper level of post-acute care on all referred patients. Functions in rehab team leadership role by identifying patients needs to justify rehab admission. Coordinates flow of information between patient, families, rehab team, physicians, and payers.</div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>In screening referred patients, summarizes acute care hospital course, including pertinent diagnostics, procedures, lab results, imaging studies, and therapy status. Uses this information to identify patient&rsquo;s medical, nursing, and functional needs.</li><li>
Uses clinical judgment and rehab physician input, if needed, to provide guidance to acute care team regarding medical, nursing and functional interventions needed for patient to qualify for rehab admission.
</li><li>In screening referred patients, comprehensively assesses patient&rsquo;s prior functional status, home situation, rehabilitation needs, ability to participate, expectations for functional improvement, and discharge plan. Assessment findings are reported to person(s) responsible for making admission/denial decisions (Medical Director and/or Rehab Services Director).</li><li>
In screening referred patients, determines compliance with CMS&rsquo; IRF criteria including need for medical supervision, intense level of therapy services, multidisciplinary approach, coordinated care plan and reasonable expectation for, significant practical improvement.
</li><li>Completes a comprehensive pre-admission assessment form, which is used to justify rehab admissions.</li><li>
Pre-certifies all patients with commercial insurance by providing a detailed case summary along with the comprehensive pre-admission assessment to the insurance case manager.</li><li>
Responsible to make every effort possible to meet admission/census goals for the DCH Rehabilitation Pavilion.</li><li>
Documents patient&rsquo;s rehab acceptance/denial as well as reasons in medical record.</li><li>
Clearly documents reasons for rehab admission on pre-admission assessment form to justify admission and to begin team treatment planning process.</li><li>
Provides guidance to acute care case managers to insure patients are being referred and accepted at the appropriate post-acute level of care.</li><li>
Must be knowledgeable of CMS (Medicare) Rehab policies and guidelines for inpatient rehabilitation facilities and be able to apply these guidelines to individual cases.</li><li>
Educates referral sources on inpatient rehabilitation facility guidelines.</li><li>
Understanding of insurance coverage guidelines for IRF&rsquo;s, SNF&rsquo;s, LTACH&rsquo;s, HH, and OP and ability to explain same to patients, families, case managers, and physicians.</li><li>
Ability to access, verify, and understand individual policy coverage and limitations such as covered and non-covered services, covered days, co-pays, lifetime reserve days and ability to explain same to patients, families, case managers, and physicians.</li><li>
Negotiates acceptable rehabilitation coverage rates with insurance providers when indicated.</li><li>
Education and marketing of referring Case Managers, Nurse Managers and Physicians.</li><li>
Coordinates responsibilities with other Admissions/Care Coordinators.</li><li>
Rotates weekend coverage with other Admissions/Care Coordinators, as assigned.</li><li>
Assists in patient education activities.</li><li>
Conducts in-service classes in hospital and community when requested.</li><li>
Markets to outside facilities as requested.</li><li>

Qualifications:

Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li><li>

<div>Position Summary
We are seeking a laboratory manager to join an interdisciplinary team led by Dr. Anand Mhatre, Assistant Professor in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and Director of Rehabilitation Engineering Design Laboratory at The Ohio State University. This position offers a unique opportunity to support cutting-edge research in the areas of assistive technology service provision, outcomes, and implementation.
The Lab Manager will plan, design and manage research projects under the supervision of Dr. Mhatre and be responsible for successful project execution. These projects require interaction with clinicians and patients, lab-based engineering setup, design and fabrication of hardware, digital software development and evaluation, human subject studies, data collection and analyses, and dissemination of research findings through publications and presentations. The lab manager will perform some of these activities while closely working with the researchers, clinicians, staff and students. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to assistance with clinical coordination, set up agreements, training of undergraduate or graduate students, conduct library research on requested topics, and assist with writing articles or grants, as needed.
This is a great opportunity to build scientific skills and knowledge at the intersection of engineering and health science disciplines, learn new techniques, and position yourself well for your future training and career goals. Although an ideal candidate will have proficiency with some of the basic or advanced research and development work, training will be provided for required skillsets.
