What You Will Do:

GENERAL DUTIES
Under supervision, provides and/or oversees expert end-user support by proficiently and accurately inputting, auditing, and reporting on information in CUNYfirst (i.e., PeopleSoft). CUNYfirst is the City University of New York's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Oracle/PeopleSoft system used to capture and maintain the University's student administration, human resources and finance functions.

The Business Data &amp; Reporting Analyst will perform a broad range of information technology business systems functions, including data reporting, data analysis, and administrative support, while maintaining strict confidentiality and a strong attention to detail. The incumbent will support the Office of Information Technology by developing reports, maintaining data integrity, supporting strategic initiatives, and assisting with daily IT operations and procedures.
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Business Data &amp; Reporting Analyst will:
<ul><li>Develop, maintain, and distribute operational, strategic, and executive reports related to information technology services, projects, cybersecurity, infrastructure, customer support, and institutional initiatives.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Compile, analyze, validate, and audit data from enterprise systems and departmental sources to identify discrepancies, ensure data integrity, and support informed decision-making.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Serve as a point of contact and information resource for campus departments requesting technology-related reports, statistics, and operational data.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Participate in enterprise system implementations, upgrades, testing activities, and reporting initiatives, including CUNYfirst, Workday, SharePoint, and other campus information systems.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Assist with maintaining technology inventories, project documentation, service level metrics, and conducting data audits to support operational effectiveness and compliance requirements.</li></ul>

</li></ul>Position Overview
This role provides key financial support to the plant, including annual budget, monthly forecast, weekly flash, month-end close, monthly financial reporting, ad-hoc business financial analysis, and internal control testing and compliance.
What You'll Do
<ul><li>Prepare monthly financial forecasts, weekly forecast updates, and analysis of financial and operational results
</li><li>Perform monthly account reconciliations and inventory analysis
</li><li>Perform self-assessment audits and ensure SOX compliance
</li><li>Review, analyze, and report monthly manufacturing variances and plant expenses affecting job costing &mdash; raw materials, inventory, cost of production labor, outplant, R&amp;D, and other indirect costs
</li><li>Support cross-functional development of departmental budgets, including reviews, analysis, and periodic reporting of key metrics
</li><li>Assist internal and external auditors on facility audits
</li><li>Help management assess factors affecting pricing and profitability of products/services
</li><li>Report actual financial results and performance measures to the corporate office monthly
</li><li>Prepare and post journal entries; handle other accounting tasks as needed
</li></ul>What You Bring
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
</li><li>Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting role, with formal training in financial accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting
</li><li>Strong analytical and decision-making skills, able to synthesize data and make calls without complete information
</li><li>Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally beyond accounting/finance
</li><li>Expert user of Microsoft Office; Epicor, Oracle, and Hyperion experience a plus

The Accident and Health Senior Financial Analyst implements financial processes supporting the core operations of the Accident and Health business unit, including premium billing and collection, commission payments, financial reporting, and internal controls.
This position engages with external program managers, administrators, intermediaries and fronting insurance companies (collectively, &ldquo;MGUs&rdquo;) to ensure processes are in place to receive accurate and timely financial and operational data that supports internal reporting requirements.
The role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and implementing effective internal controls. Working closely with Actuarial, Accounting, Claims Operations, and enterprise partners, this manager maintains the integrity of financial information across the organization and ensures compliance with enterprise financial and reporting standards. 
Key Responsibilities
<h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Premium, Commissions, and Claims Financial Operations
</h2><ul><li>Develop processes for the receipt of premium, commission, and claims data from MGUs, and design controls to ensure reported amounts align with business expectations and regulatory requirements.
</li><li>For business written without MGUs, ensure timely and accurate premium billing, collections, and commission payments.
</li><li>Ensure accurate reporting to accounting and financial systems, including reconciliation between accounting systems and administrative systems and databases.
</li><li>Oversee bordereaux ingestion, validation, and reconciliation processes to ensure data integrity.
</li><li>Facilitate reporting to reinsurance and retrocession partners, including calculation of profit sharing and contingent commission arrangements.
</li><li>Develop and maintain financial reporting for the Accident and Health business.
</li><li>Coordinate reporting of claim activity between claims and actuarial.
</li><li>Partner with Claims and Actuarial teams to identify anomalies, data gaps, and operational risks.
</li></ul></div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">MGU Oversight &amp; Governance
</h2><ul><li>Establish financial reporting standards, controls, and service level expectations with MGUs.
</li><li>Evaluate MGU financial reporting for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
</li><li>Monitor premium receivables, cash flow timing, and remittance activity from MGUs.
</li><li>Support MGU audits, due diligence, and performance reviews.
</li><li>Assist in the analysis of profitability by MGU, program, and product, including loss ratios and expense performance.
</li></ul><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Regulatory Compliance &amp; Reporting
</h2><ul><li>Ensure all data reporting complies with enterprise standards and Department of Insurance requirements.
</li><li>Support the preparation of regulatory filings, financial exhibits, and audit requests.
</li><li>Maintain strong internal controls aligned with SOX requirements and audit readiness.
</li><li>Establish and test controls over delegated financial and underwriting authority.

</h2><ul><li>Identify and lead initiatives to streamline financial workflows.

</li><li>Support onboarding and financial due diligence of new MGU or program relationships.

</h1><ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (MBA or Master&rsquo;s preferred).
</li><li>5+ years of experience in financial operations within health insurance or related insurance fields.
</li><li>Strong understanding of premium billing, commission structures, bordereaux, and insurance financial flows.
</li><li>Experience with regulatory financial reporting preferred.
</li><li>Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
</li><li>Prior leadership experience preferred.
