Job Summary</b></h2><p>
The Transplant Clinical Research Program conducts clinical trials for solid organ transplants including kidney, heart, lung, and liver with principal investigators in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Surgery.</p><p>
This Transplant research assistant II position responsibilities include completion of regulatory materials, reviews of protocols, presentation of informed consents, collection and processing of samples, initiation of study orders as needed and conducting other study required items during weekdays, as well as evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays. Due to the pre transplant time restrictions, study coordinators are required to live within a 30-minute radius.</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

On call coordinators are required to carry a pager, respond to pages within 15 minutes during assigned on call hours, screen patients for studies, act professionally, and arrive at the hospital with time to perform required responsibilities. The undergraduate research assistant will support an interdisciplinary air and water quality monitoring project led by Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science faculty at the University of Michigan-Flint. The research assistant will design, build, and maintain a hardware station to measure environmental data on campus and in surrounding neighborhoods. Responsibilities include hands-on hardware assembly, installation of sensors, periodic station maintenance, data collection/preprocessing, and contribution to the development of new water quality sensors. The student will also assist with drone-based air quality monitoring and public data dissemination (via a website).</p><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>

</b></p><p>Placed at the Harvard Medical School affiliate Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife (https://www.marcusinstituteforaging.org), the Research Assistant will support an eight-site hospital intervention trial across the US, the Evaluating Novel Healthcare Approaches to Nurturing and Caring for Hospitalized Elders (ENHANCE) trial (https://enhancetrial.org/). The goal of ENHANCE is to improve care of older patients by preventing delirium using a multicomponent, non-pharmacologic program: the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP, https://help.agscocare.org), and specifically includes caregivers. Effectiveness will be evaluated using state-of-the-art implementation science. HELP is a successful and evidence-based clinical program that can prevent delirium and falls, shorten hospital stays, and decrease admissions to nursing homes. While the ENHANCE Trial will be the major responsibility for the position, the Research Assistant will also be involved in other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of older adults and their families.<br>

</li></ul><ul><li>Draft PowerPoints presentations, agendas and minutes for several weekly meetings with different study sites, local teams, stakeholders, and PIs.
</li></ul><ul><li>Support in-person or web-based training efforts related to implementation of protocols and training of site staff.
</li></ul><ul><li>Support the maintenance of research protocols, training manuals and websites with the most up-to-date information.
</li></ul><ul><li>Support protocol preparation, report writing, regulatory submissions, and other documentation required for the study.
</li></ul><ul><li>Perform literature reviews for reports and manuscripts.
</li></ul><ul><li>National travel for one annual meeting required.
</li></ul><ul><li>Rare weekend and evening work hours are required.<br>

<b>IV Qualifications:

</li></ul><ul><li>Previous experience with web-based materials and iPads/Apple operating systems. Must be able to manage and troubleshoot iPad setup and web app maintenance
</li></ul><ul><li>Previous experience with REDCap (data entry and report creation) and strong computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, reference management) a plus
</li></ul><ul><li>Good problem-solving, trouble shooting skills and knowledge of new technologies and website maintenance
</li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of website maintenance/use of GitHub a plus
</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent writing and communication skills.
