<b>Job Description</b><br>
The Research Scientist will collaborate with the Research Engineer to advance the research objectives taking place in the <b>Rhoads Research Group</b>'s laboratory.<br>

<b>Job Duties include:</b><br>

Scientific/Technical Consultation: Design, conduct and supervise all experiments including contributing to new research performed by Dr. Rhoads.</li><li>
Data processing and reporting: Manage program data, create and organize structure and systems to support data collection and communication of that data to colleagues and sponsors.</li><li>

<b>Overview:</b><br>
The Research Coordinator will work with a research team on several grant-funded studies designed to understand the effects of prenatal alcohol exposure on child brain development. A primary responsibility will be community outreach to identify new recruitment sources through contacting community organizations, private medical clinics, and child-serving businesses. They will also be responsible for: 1) Recruiting and scheduling participants, 2) Conducting clinical assessments, 3) Analyzing data to assure data integrity, quality control and protocol compliance, 4) Training staff and volunteers, 5) Supervising student volunteers and other staff, 6) Using statistical software to analyze data quantitatively and qualitatively, and assist in the preparation of conference presentations, manuscripts, and grant proposals. The research coordinator will be trained in study specific methods, including recruitment, behavioral assessment, and data analysis. Qualified hires may also receive training in brain imaging (magnetic resonance imaging and magnetoencephalography), data collection, and analyses.

<b>Qualifications:</b><br>
Requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been attained. Candidates with a M.A are also encouraged to apply.

<b>Job Description</b><br>
The STAR2 Lab (Selective Targeting Approaches for RNA and RNA-binding proteins) is looking to hire an aspiring biochemistry researcher as a research technician. The STAR2 Lab is led by chemical biologist, Prof. Brittany Morgan, and works toward demystifying the chemical, biophysical, and cellular basis of covalent ligand selectivity in RNA and proteins. Although the position will be primarily focused on supporting biochemical efforts in the lab, the person will be integrated into a team with a diversity of expertise, including cheminformatics, organic chemistry, biophysics, and cell biology, leading to the opportunity to learn across disciplines. Applicants for the position must have a BA/BS degree in biochemistry or related science. Skills in protein biochemistry are beneficial but not required. The STAR2 Lab is committed to mentoring new members of our community, including teaching them the scientific skills essential for success as a research technician. The research technician position is full-time (30-40 hours/week) for one year with the potential for renewal dependent upon performance and funding. Pay is commensurate with experience. The role is flexible to start date, schedules, and concurrent responsibilities; however, a start date of September 1, 2025 would be anticipated, if not sooner, pending the timeline of the search process. Responsibilities of the position are as follows (training and support will be offered):<br>
Protein expression and purification.<br>
<ul><li>

Preparing, running, and analyzing intact protein mass spectrometry samples.<br>
<li>
</li>
Collaborate with other lab members intellectually and technically.<br>
<li>
</li>
Miscellaneous lab manager tasks, such as autoclaving media, bottle washing, calibrating equipment, and receiving supplies.<br>
