Under general supervision, the Residence Counselor is responsible for guidance and well-being of residents with psychiatric disabilities in a community residence (group home). Staff are teachers of skills with the goal of increasing resident&rsquo;s independence. Staff follow individual service plans that support each resident&rsquo;s goals in areas such as meal preparation, medication management, socialization, household cleaning, grocery shopping, community integration, recreation, symptom management, health awareness, and other activities. Staff work cooperatively and flexibly with the Site Supervisor and Senior Counselor to meet the needs of the residents, the goals of the program, and all deadlines.</div>
Responsibilities:

Serves as a primary counselor to a group of residents.</li><li>
Consults routinely with case managers and residents to develop, monitor and modify service plans.</li><li>
Documents the implementation of resident service plans following agency practices.</li><li>
Serves as a role model to residents to encourage increased independence.</li><li>
Develops an appropriate rapport with residents and staff. Treats residents and co-workers with dignity and respect in all interactions.</li><li>
Provides supervision of resident self-administration of medications, following agency practices.</li><li>
Completes documentation relating to medical, psychiatric, behavioral and social condition of residents.</li><li>
Provides assessment and response to resident needs.</li><li>
Works in cooperation with Senior Counselor and Resident Counselors to implement resident activity and service plans.</li><li>
Fulfills role as primary advocate for residents as assigned by case manager or supervisor.</li><li>
Trains and assists residents in the use of community resources.</li><li>
Trains and assists residents in meal preparation to promote skill building and independence.</li><li>
Accompanies residents to appropriate appointments and outings as directed by Site Supervisor.</li><li>
Demonstrates sensitivity and responsiveness to residents&rsquo; needs when counseling.</li><li>
Maintains resident confidentiality and shares written and verbal information appropriately with team members. Maintains compliance with agency confidentiality practices.</li><li>
Acts as a positive and effective role model to staff and residents at all times. Demonstrates a sensitive and responsive approach with coworkers.</li><li>
Completes shift responsibilities daily and accepts assignments from the Site Supervisor.</li><li>
Assists in the training and development of new counselors.</li><li>
Uses on-call supervisory system for support as needed, using the correct process.</li><li>
Correctly uses information tools such as resident logs, communication logs, and medication log.</li><li>
Assists residents with personal allowance system as needed.</li><li>
Trains and assists resident in money management and budgeting.</li><li>
Educates and counsels residents on making good purchases.</li><li>
Alerts supervisory staff to safety issues and potential hazards. Reports all incidents or accidents, major or minor, to supervisor immediately.</li><li>
Correctly documents incidents using required forms or reports.</li><li>
Uses preventive counseling skills to avert crises.</li><li>
Remains calm and patient while providing strong and supportive interventions.</li><li>
Practices and teaches safety awareness to residents.</li><li>
Identifies, corrects or reports any possible safety or environmental issues.</li><li>
Uses on-call supervisors to test perceptions and request emergency assistance where necessary.</li><li>
Makes timely decisions in both crisis and non-crisis situations by using good judgement and accepting input from providers, appropriate staff, resident and significant others.</li><li>
Works with other service providers in a professional manner, representing Loretto Community Residences, Inc. in the most positive, competent and cooperative light.</li><li>
Maintains relationships and open communication with all service providers throughout the Loretto system including Admissions, Daybreak and McAuliffe Health Center.</li><li>
Assists at other Community Residence sites as needed.</li><li>
Oversees or performs fire drills on a monthly basis in conjunction with the support service person.</li><li>
Assists in grocery shopping for the house as needed.</li><li>
Starts meal preparation as needed. Uses leftover food in order to be efficient and cost effective.</li><li>
Seeks clarification of agency policies and procedures from appropriate resources as needed.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
<ul><li>High school diploma, GED or ability to pass written TABE test.</li><li>
CPR and first aid certification or the ability to complete certification at first opportunity presented by employer required.</li><li>
Experience in a human services field, or working with adults with mental health disabilities strongly preferred.</li><li>
Must possess a valid and clean NYS driver&rsquo;s&rsquo; license. Must participate in the NYS LENS program (License Event Notification) and remain compliant throughout employment.</li><li>

The Martin Luther King Jr. Behavioral Health Center (MLK BHC) is a program of HealthRIGHT 360 and is
<br>contracted with the Department of Public Health's Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC)
<br>program. MLK BHC offers residential Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services for a maximum of 99 adult individuals,
<br>comprising 33 beds each for judicially involved men, men, and women. MLK BHC collaborates closely with
<br>other Behavioral Health Center programs to ensure a comprehensive range of services for low-income
<br>and Medi-Cal-eligible individuals. Situated on the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital campus in the
<br>Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles, the program serves residents of all Los Angeles County.
<br><br>
The SUD Counselor III is part of an interdisciplinary team that supports our clients through assessment of
<br>their needs and strengths in support of their health and recovery. This in-person role involves providing
<br>counseling in both individual and group settings, delivering curricula in accordance with program-specific
<br>requirements, and offering case management. The SUD Counselor III also assists clients in navigating
<br>systems of care while fostering a supportive treatment environment.
<br><br>
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
<br>Treatment Setting
<br><ul>
<li>Maintain an assigned caseload of up to 25 clients, depending on the program staffing pattern and</li>

business needs, and provide individualized weekly counseling.

<li>Facilitate group counseling sessions and community meetings.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS
<br>Education, Certification, or Licensure

<li>Certification as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor from an accredited California agency (CCAPP,</li>

CAADE, CADTP).

<p>Second Story for Teens in Crisis is part of Second Story, a nonprofit that transforms the lives of youth and families in need by providing safe havens and opportunities to grow and thrive through residential and community-based programs. Our Teens in Crisis program is the only emergency home and safe haven in Northern Virginia for teens aged 13&ndash;17, providing shelter, safety, counseling, and support during critical moments in a young person&rsquo;s life.</p><p>We are seeking several individuals to work in-person as full-time (40 hours per week) Residential Counselor. The PATHS Program prepares prospective first-generation high school students to achieve their full potential and pursue higher education. Counselors will work with groups of up to 20 students each week at the University of Utah&rsquo;s campus for 8 weeks of camp plus 2 weeks of training and planning.<br>
<br>
PATHS Counselors are leaders, mentors, educators, and advocates for PATHS students and their communities. They supervise and ensure the safety of students during camp, teach and lead program curriculum, develop and coordinate enrichment activities, supervise during overnight stays, and act as positive role models. Applicants must pass applicable background checks in order to be hired.<br>

Counselors will be contracted on a temporary basis from May 16, 2026 through July 31, 2026. Some weekend work may be necessary. They will not be scheduled to work on holidays.<br>

<div><p>A Residential Counselor II provides direct support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a small group residential setting or an individual living arrangement. They work together with the people we serve, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to transform their lives by either building independence skills or increasing each person's quality of life.</p><p><br>
Residential Counselors have a range of duties include administrating medication under the Medication Administration Plan (MAC), implementing treatment plans, and assisting people with activities of daily living, such as household chores and cooking. They also strengthen residents' connection to their community by providing transportation on outings such as shopping and doctor's appointments.</p><div><b><i><br>

<ul><li>Assists in developing, implementing, and documenting treatment, including ISP/IPs and clinical programs.</li><li>Provides training and support to persons served. This includes rehabilitative interventions, behavioral interventions and monitoring, fire &amp; safety regulations, appointment scheduling, money management, ADLs, grocery shopping, meal planning and cooking, household chores and other related areas. Perform hands-on tasks in the program as required in order to facilitate implementation of support plans.</li><li>Assists individuals in becoming fully integrated into their communities. Assists residents with community-based support and resource services. Plans recreational and social activities to promote the emotional well-being of persons served and improve quality of life. This includes holiday and birthday parties, celebrations, outings, community travel, church activities, decorating, shopping and other related activities.</li><li>Provides transportation, as necessary.</li><li>Assesses residents&rsquo; physical and emotional status, and report changes to supervisor.</li><li>Monitor residents&rsquo; funds, as needed.</li><li>Maintains records for persons served. Collects behavior and academic data and maintains progress notes. Enters information into electronic health record. Documents all information related to incidents, programs and routine activities in a communication log.</li><li>Stores, administers, documents and disposes of medication for persons served consistent with MAC requirements, funding source regulations and Company policy.</li><li>Communicates with and provides information to interested parties such as program nurse, funding agency, case managers, other service providers, Visiting Nurses Association nurses, and physicians.</li><li>Participates in all mandated training and staff meetings as directed by manager. Assists with the orientation of new staff. Ensures compliance with all internal and external regulatory bodies.</li><li>Ensures program site safety and maintenance as necessary at all times. This includes general housekeeping, lawn mowing, snow shoveling, and garbage removal.</li><li>Complies with all corporate and divisional policies and procedures, including safe work practices, workers&rsquo; compensation, universal precautions and exposure control.</li><li>Completes various paperwork and logs and online data records including communication logs, community membership logs, chore schedules, timesheets, and application forms.</li><li>Ensures required staff to consumer ratio is maintained at all times. Must perform last minute coverage, as required.</li><li>Functions as human rights advocate. Provides physical intervention and/or first aid in the event of behavior or medical emergency. Serves as a reporter to the Disabled Persons Protections Commission.</li><li>Maintains required certifications, reviews and replies to work emails, and follows all Vinfen administrative policies.</li><li>Performs other related duties, as required.</li></ul></div><div><b><br>

Driving Requirements:</b><br>
Driving is a requirement for this position using either a Vinfen van or personal vehicle. If using a personal vehicle, you must possess and maintain adequate insurance as well as maintain a safe driving record which is subject to annual checks. A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment. Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least six months and must be able to pass a driver's screening background check.</p><p><b><br>
Physical Effort:</b><br>
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb as this is a very physically active position.<br>
Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or the use of a two-person lift.<br>

Position Responsibilities- Essential</b></p><ul><li>
Provides one-on-one direct care to a resident with cerebral palsy</li><li>

Promotes a safe environment for residents by keeping the rooms, floors, and hallways in the house free from trash and unnecessary items.</li><li>

Assists residents in areas of self-help skills, hygiene, grooming, dressing, eating, safety, appropriate social behavior, cleaning, laundry, etc. This includes, but is not limited to bathing, dressing (choosing appropriate seasonal clothing), washing and combing hair, shaving, brushing teeth, using deodorant, and ensuring proper fit of clothing. When residents are unable to perform tasks, assist or complete them as necessary.</li><li>
Ensures laundry is washed, dried, and folded during shift.</li><li>
Cooks and sets up meals and cleans up.</li><li>
Performs assigned cleaning duties (see shift checklist).</li><li>
Supervises residents in all activities and assists them in improving their life skills by training them to be as independent as possible.</li><li>
Supervises and transports residents to/from activities, appointments, and church following safety rules as a driver.</li><li>
Encourages participation of each resident in different and new activities.</li><li>
Reports needed house repairs, lost or broken equipment, and needed supplies to the Residential Manager (create work order).</li><li>
Reports all problems with security, vandalism, or theft to the Residential Manager immediately.</li><li>

</b></p><p>The Lassonde Startup Academy is a pre-college program designed for entrepreneurs, makers, builders, and doers, offered by the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. Residential counselors will work with high school students after classroom instruction to focus on durable skill building and to explore life on the University of Utah campus and within the surrounding community.
</p><p>Our 2-week summer residential program runs from June 15th-June 26th, 2026. Residential Counselors will work overnight.
</p><p>Residential Counselors will receive accommodations and be expected to stay overnight during residential camp weeks at the same housing as students. Meals will be provided during camp programming.
