About the Department:

Housing &amp; Residence Life (HRL) is an auxiliary organization within the University Life unit of George Mason University. HRL employs over 170 full-time and graduate staff members and over 200undergraduate student staff members. HRL oversees student housing areas comprised of roughly 6,000 beds within over forty (40) residential facilities, as well as housing the distributed campuses including the Science &amp; Technology Campus and the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation. About the Position:

The Coordinator of Residence Life for Residential Academic Engagement assists with the implementation and assessment of all residential learning communities and serves as a liaison for faculty and staff who work with the individual residential learning communities. 
 
The Coordinator of Residence Life for Residential Academic Engagement is responsible for collaborating with academic partners to identify the needs of each Residential Learning Community (RLC) at Mason, and provides strategic guidance and support for RLC stakeholders in the execution and assessment of the RLC programs. In addition, the Coordinator of Residence Life for Residential Academic Engagement develops and implements a marketing strategy, recruitment, and assignments for the RLCs.
Responsibilities:

Residential Academic Engagement Initiatives:
<ul><li>Assists with the development and implementation of all Residential Learning Communities (RLCs) to improve and support student retention and success;</li>
<li>Assists with the planning and implementation of the residential curriculum in collaboration with the Residential Student Engagement team and other Residence Life staff to support student engagement and community building;</li>
<li>Manages the residential tutoring program including recruitment, hiring, training, and supervising the residential tutors in order to facilitate student learning opportunities;</li>
<li>Oversees the use of early intervention tools and retention efforts to increase residential student retention;</li>
<li>Develops and supports initiatives that recognize student academic success and support student academic success skills;</li>
<li>Supervises and evaluates, as needed, departmental graduate staff or interns for the Residential Academic Engagement initiatives area to ensure their tasks are completed successfully and support their development;</li>
<li>Manages and completes supply purchasing for activities in the residential learning communities to ensure successful implementation and student engagement;</li>
<li>Supports the logistical setup and breakdown of Residential Academic Engagement events by regularly transporting folding tables, boxes/pallets of soda, snacks, and other program supplies to ensure smooth execution of key initiatives that foster academic and community engagement within residential spaces.</li>
</ul>
Residential Learning Community Marketing, Occupancy, and Assessment:
<ul><li>Implements marketing and recruitment efforts including creation and management of both print and electronic materials to increase awareness and interest in residential learning communities;</li>
<li>Manages regular communication with RLC stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration between teams;</li>
<li>Works in collaboration with Residential Services and other university offices to recruit new RLC students, including coordination of and attendance at Preview Days and other admissions events;</li>
<li>Collects and tracks Residential Learning Community programming using a program tracker in order to assess goal achievements;</li>
<li>Works with the supervisor on RLC linked courses, planning, and course collection for the Registrar to ensure RLC students are enrolled properly;</li>
<li>Assists supervisor to evaluate and guide RLC partners on maintaining annual budgets ensuring proper spending and allocation of resources;</li>
<li>Creates and supports methods to assess the achievement of residential learning community outcomes and student satisfaction to support student retention, success, and satisfaction;</li>
<li>Supports the implementation and evaluation of all department and university wide assessment strategies in order to support broad efforts to measure effectiveness; and</li>
<li>Assists in RLC assignment processes utilizing software in collaboration with other departments to ensure accuracy of bed assignments.</li>
</ul>
Partnerships and Collaborations:
<ul>
<li>Collaborates with Residential Learning Community partners and stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, deans, and directors to implement RLC initiatives that promote student engagement, support student academic success, and strengthen the campus community;</li>
<li>Meets monthly with RLC partners and Residence Life staff to discuss administrative updates, and foster collaboration;</li>
<li>Provides guidance and support to RLC partners in creating strategies and programming to meet the RLC and curriculum learning outcomes;</li>
<li>Supports Community Directors in programming, curriculum implementation, RLC student staff support, and orientation to ensure RLC goals are achieved;</li>
<li>Supports the RLC student staff programming by ensuring RLC student staff and RLC partners are conducting regular meetings, as well as training and development to ensure successful collaboration and timely planning of program initiatives;</li>
<li>Works with RLC partners and RLC RAs on expectations for programmatic efforts and engagement requirements to improve consistency and effectiveness; and</li>
<li>Assists the supervisor in the creation of new partnerships to support academic student success, including with Student Success Coaching and other University Life offices.</li>
</ul>
Unit and Division Support/Service:
<ul>
<li>Serves as a live-in staff member and participates in an on-call rotation to respond promptly to residence hall incidents and support student safety as part of the residence life duty response team;</li>
<li>Performs other related duties as assigned to support operations of RLC programs and Housing and Residence Life (HRL);</li>
<li>Assists in fulfilling duties of vacant positions within the department, as relevant and needed to ensure continuity of essential department operations;</li>
<li>Attends regularly scheduled departmental meetings to stay informed on department, division, and university needs and actions;</li>
<li>Actively supports and complies with all University policies, HRL regulations, department vision and goals to promote a safe and healthy environment; and</li>
<li>Acts as 'essential personnel' in times of emergency and at critical times to provide proper support to residents and maintain a safe campus.</li>
</ul>
Required Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Master&rsquo;s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;</li>
<li>Progressive experience, typically obtained in two years in residence life, student affairs, or housing operations;</li>
<li>Knowledge of student development theory and current trends in residence life and student housing;</li>
<li>Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to address student transitions and success;</li>
<li>Demonstrated skills in effectively communicating and collaborating with various campus partners and audiences;</li>
<li>Demonstrated skills in problem solving and critical thinking;</li>
<li>Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and with evolving priorities; and</li>
<li>Ability to effectively supervise staff.</li>
</ul>
Preferred Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Full time or graduate assistant experience in higher education at a four-year institution;</li>
<li>Experience with Learning Communities that contribute to student engagement and retention; and</li>
<li>Experience implementing successful social media and marketing campaigns in conjunction with programming and office identity web-presence.</li>

The GRD is responsible to devote an average of 20 hours per week to their assigned duties during the semester for a total of 300 hours per semester. Position provides 100% tuition credit for full-time enrolled students up to eighteen (18) credits for the 26-27 academic year (typically 9 credits per semester). A modest stipend is also awarded for hours worked. This position is not eligible for benefits or remote work. 
 
Qualifications 
 
Applicants must be a current or prospective graduate student at Mount Aloysius College. Enrollment in one of the College&rsquo;s Master&rsquo;s degree programs is required. (Successful completion of Bachelor&rsquo;s degree required.) Strong record of academic achievement as an undergraduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above required. Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as satisfactory undergraduate student conduct record required. Must be able to maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and remain self-motivated. Must meet all requirements to become certified to drive College fleet vehicles, including vans. 
 
Two (2) years&rsquo; experience in residence hall leadership or other related leadership experience preferred. Genuine interest in the Student Affairs profession is strongly preferred. POSITION DESCRIPTION: 
University Housing supports the educational mission of the University by providing a safe, secure, and educational living environment for students. Many educational and social learning opportunities are provided to the students while living in University Housing. In addition, University Housing also provides educational groups the means to stay on campus and utilize the university facilities, services, and experience through our Conference Services. During the academic year, University Housing has approximately 1,200 students living in the halls and apartments. Conference Services accommodates over 10,000 guests throughout the full year. University Housing is a self-supporting auxiliary enterprise with an annual operating budget of over 14 million dollars. The Area Coordinator (AC) is primarily responsible for student staff supervision, community development, and operations management within the University Housing Department. The person coordinates the work of staff assigned to their functional areas to accomplish the goals of the University Housing department at Southern Oregon University (SOU). The AC will provide a supervision philosophy that encourages creativity and provides motivation for student staff. The AC is supervised by and reports directly to the Associate Director of University Housing for Residential Life.
 
The Area Coordinator must be accessible to residents and guests on a regular, daily basis. Some evening/weekend work and occasional travel are required. The person will serve in the primary professional staff on-call rotation for University Housing. Additionally, the Area Coordinator is expected to:
 
Adapt and respond appropriately to new and challenging circumstances.
 Act as a role model and professional representative of SOU and University Housing. Always act in a mature and appropriate professional manner in dealings with students, parents, staff, and other University officials.
 Support the mission, goals, and policies of University Housing and SOU. Encourage academic achievement, student satisfaction, and retention through personal contact, community development, and operational management.
 Ensure accurate and positive representation of SOU to the public.
