Position Summary</h2>

The Medication Technician (Med Tech) is responsible for administering medications to residents in accordance with New York State regulations and community policies. This role also supports resident engagement, monitors health status, and ensures a safe, compassionate environment.

Keep resident&rsquo;s rooms, dining area, utility room, and other areas of the facility clean and orderly. Provide laundry services as necessary.&middot; Requisition and charge resident supplies as needed.&middot; Maintain restraint free environment at all times. Support fall prevention programs for all residents in need. Summary:

Assists with personal hygiene including dressing, bathing, shaving, dental hygiene, nail and hair care.</li><li>
Performs housekeeping tasks such as laundry, vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning room, bed making, and bed changes</li><li>
Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs.</li><li>
Observes/reports changes in residents&rsquo; physical and cognitive/emotional status to the nurse.</li><li>
Conducts room checks and resident rounds.</li><li>
Reports environmental safety hazards, records incidents, errors or accidents</li><li>
Assists in tasks relating to dining</li><li>
Participates in resident-centered activity programs.</li><li>

Education/Experience:

Completion of PA Department of Human Services Medication Administration Training required.</li><li>
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CRPS) or First Aid Certification preferred but not required</li></ul> 


Work Environment:
Employees of a long term care facility work in a resident care environment that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Employees can be expected to be exposed to unpleasant odors and may encounter physically or verbally aggressive residents.

Working conditions include normal indoor temperatures. There may also be times when employees perform duties outdoors. Depending on the season, outdoor temperatures will vary.

Employees may come into contact with residents who have infectious diseases or to resident bodily fluids or blood. In addition, employees may come into contact with hazardous materials and facility equipment.
