<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Position Title: Residential Specialist (3PM-11PM)</h1>
General Description:
The Residential Specialist implements individual's service plans by providing direct psychiatric rehabilitation services and skills training to individuals recovering from mental illness. The Residential Specialist works with residents in their homes by providing the support to assist them in developing the skills necessary for independence and success. May have to use own vehicle to travel between locations, company vehicles are used to transport residents. FLSA: Non-Exempt
Schedule: Full time (3PM-11PM Monday-Thursday, 3PM-9:30PM Friday). This person reports to the Residential Coordinator.
<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Required Education, Knowledge and Skill Abilities to Perform Essential Job Functions:</h1>
A high school diploma is required and experience in human service delivery is preferred. Ability to work as a part of a team is necessary. A good driving record is also essential. Ability to respect individual choice in the recovery process and a commitment to recovery through the psychiatric rehabilitation process is required. Also, this position requires good verbal communication skills and the understanding to respect the abilities and limitations of consumers.
<h1 class="jobSectionHeader">Summary of Essential Functions, Responsibilities and Duties</h1><ul><li>
Provide in-person residential program coverage by working in the residential units facilitating rehabilitation services and skills training.</li><li>
Perform medication monitoring services
</li><li>Assist consumers with implementing Individual Service Plans to reach goals</li><li>
Facilitate group and individual activities</li><li>
Provide transportation using company vehicles to assist consumers in using community resources</li><li>
Utilize Electronic Health Record to record services and documentation for billing</li><li>
Document activities and services in log book to promote communication between shifts</li><li>
Assist consumers with independent living skills</li><li>
Communicate with supervisors and other employees to ensure continuum of service</li><li>
Engage in crisis management</li><li>
Utilize systems for internal communication, including work email and time and attendance systems to clock in and out of every shift worked and verify time on the last day worked of pay cycle</li><li>

<div>The Residential Support Specialist (RSS) provides direct care, structure, and supervision to residents within the ASAM Level 3.1 Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Program, as defined by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). This role ensures a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment consistent with DBHDS 3.1 staffing and program criteria, which require 24-hour onsite allied health staff presence and 24/7 physician consultation availability. 
</div><div>The RSS supports residents in achieving treatment goals by maintaining safety, modeling recovery principles, documenting progress, and fostering personal responsibility, emotional growth, and independence. 
</div><div>Key Responsibilities</div>
<ul><li>Provide 24-hour milieu supervision, ensuring resident safety, accountability, and adherence to DBHDS and ALIGN Community &amp; Treatment Services (ACTS) program standards.</li>
<li>Conduct scheduled wellness, safety, and room checks in compliance with Level 3.1 staffing expectations.</li>
<li>Support residents&rsquo; daily routines, including life skills development, hygiene, meal preparation, community integration, and social interaction.</li>
<li>Assist residents in following individualized treatment and recovery plans, encouraging engagement in groups, therapy sessions, and recovery-related activities.</li>
<li>Monitor and document resident behavior, mood, and progress in accordance with DBHDS documentation requirements (12VAC35-105-1630 &amp; 12VAC35-105-1640).</li>
<li>Communicate behavioral or safety concerns promptly to the clinical and medical teams.</li>
<li>Participate actively in team meetings, case reviews, and supervision to promote consistency and quality of care.</li>
<li>Support medication observation and administration while ensuring compliance with prescribed regimens.</li>
<li>Maintain facility cleanliness and assist with household tasks, meal preparation, and inventory checks.</li>
<li>Uphold confidentiality, professional ethics, and trauma-informed practices in accordance with all federal, state, and agency regulations, policies, and procedures.</li>
</ul><div>Minimum Qualifications</div>
<ul><li>High school diploma or GED required; associate&rsquo;s or bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Human Services, Psychology, or related field preferred.</li>
<li>One (1) year of experience in behavioral health, residential, or substance use treatment preferred.</li>
<li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license and clean driving record.</li>
<li>Successful completion of criminal background and central registry checks.</li>
<li>CPR, First Aid, and medication administration certification (within 90 days of hire).</li>
<li>CNA, QMHP, or related credentials preferred.</li>
</ul><div>Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities</div>
<ul><li>Knowledge of substance use recovery, relapse prevention, and co-occurring mental health conditions.</li>

 Pay Ranges
 
 
 
 $27,669.00 - $58,865.00
 
 
 This range is based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate&rsquo;s skills, experience, and geographic location, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the pay range. The upper end of the range will generally be reserved for candidates with extensive experience. An employee&rsquo;s pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law. In addition to monetary compensation, we offer benefits, including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance and Company-matching 401(k) in addition to other programs and perks.

The Staff Development Specialist is responsible for performing all training duties for the Residential Interventions Program including, pre-class preparation, delivering curriculum-classroom, one-on-one training, and actively mentoring/coaching direct care staff. The Staff Development Specialist will facilitate robust and comprehensive orientation and training for new hires, facilitate refresher and ongoing trainings for staff, and provide on-the-floor coaching and direction to staff in the Residential Interventions Program.

What you'll be doing:<ul><li>
Conduct training sessions including new-hire training, on-the job and refresher training.</li><li>
Develop refresher trainings to meet needs of staff in the residential program.</li><li>
Complete new hire orientation for new staff hired in the residential programs. Review and update new hire orientation on a regular basis.</li><li>
Coordinate training schedules with the hiring and training demands of new hires.</li><li>
Create, update, and improve existing learning materials based on the outcome of needs assessments, residential needs, performance goals, and audience.
</li><li>Create, develop and maintain learning materials and visual aids including: training communications, end-user materials, facilitator guides, assessments and reports.
</li><li>Create assessments for reinforcement, including situational and scenario-based questions.
</li><li>Ensure that all residential staff remain in compliance with required agency trainings including CPR/ First Aid, and Paylocity.
</li><li>Facilitate Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Residential Child and Youth Care Professional (RCYCP), and other curriculum-based trainings.</li><li>
Actively mentor/coach direct care staff during assigned shifts to reinforce their therapeutic skill development on the units.</li><li>
Collaborate with therapists, educational staff, medical staff, and other professionals involved in the treatment of the youth.
</li><li>Provide coverage in other programs as directed by supervisor or program policy.</li></ul>
What you bring to the table:<ul><li>
Bachelor's degree in relevant field with at least 6 months experience preferred.</li><li>
Exceptional candidates may have a High School diploma and 3 years' working experience.</li></ul><ul><li>
Proficiency with MS Outlook and MS Office.</li><li>
Ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.</li><li>
Strong interpersonal, time management, and robust listening skills.</li><li>
Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise and grammatically correct content that support training objectives.</li><li>
Experience with learning management systems.
</li></ul><ul><li>Must be a minimum of 21 years of age, have a valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance with no more than 5 points on your MVR.
</li><li>Must be able to pass a criminal background check.</li></ul>
