The Martin Luther King Jr. Behavioral Health Center (MLK BHC) is a program of HealthRIGHT 360 and is
 contracted with the Department of Public Health's Substance Abuse Prevention and Control (SAPC)
 program. MLK BHC offers residential Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services for a maximum of 99 adult individuals,
 comprising 33 beds each for judicially involved men, men, and women. MLK BHC collaborates closely with
 other Behavioral Health Center programs to ensure a comprehensive range of services for low-income
 and Medi-Cal-eligible individuals. Situated on the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital campus in the
 Willowbrook area of South Los Angeles, the program serves residents of all Los Angeles County.
 
The SUD Counselor III is part of an interdisciplinary team that supports our clients through assessment of
 their needs and strengths in support of their health and recovery. This in-person role involves providing
 counseling in both individual and group settings, delivering curricula in accordance with program-specific
 requirements, and offering case management. The SUD Counselor III also assists clients in navigating
 systems of care while fostering a supportive treatment environment.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Treatment Setting
 <ul>
<li>Maintain an assigned caseload of up to 25 clients, depending on the program staffing pattern and</li>

business needs, and provide individualized weekly counseling.

QUALIFICATIONS
 Education, Certification, or Licensure

The Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP), a program of HealthRIGHT 360, is a residential facility
 with a capacity of 200 beds, designed for adult males who have less than two years remaining on their

 remainder of their sentences in the community through MCRP. The program offers a variety of
 rehabilitative services focused on substance use disorder (SUD), mental health care, primary care,
 employment, education, housing, family reunification, and social support. Treatment for substance use
 disorders and mental health issues provided by MCRP typically lasts from 6 to 12 months, ensuring
 comprehensive support for participants.
 
The SUD Counselor III is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team that supports our clients through

 Men’s Residential and Detox or 890 Residential Services is a program of HealthRIGHT 360 that serves male-identifying clients. This program has approximately 105 beds and provides residential treatment for substance use disorder (SUD) for up to 90 days. Clients are supported by a team of behavioral health professionals who provide counseling and education for substance abuse disorders, life skills, as well as individual and group therapy.
 The On-Call Therapist works collaboratively with a team consisting of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselors and SUD Supervisors to provide valuable insight, direction, and oversight of Drug Medi-Cal (DMC) services. They also participate in a collaborative care process for clients, which includes providing individual and group therapy. Additionally, they are responsible for providing safe, supportive, and confidential counseling; maintaining a culturally competent stance; and always creating and maintaining a trauma informed program environment.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Individual Treatment Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>Manages an individual therapy caseload.</li>
<li>Performs individual psychotherapy services in a residential setting.</li>
<li>Provides counseling, support and psycho-education for individuals with co-occurring disorders that include screening clients for appropriate levels of services, assessments, treatment planning, case management, and referrals.</li>
<li>Maintains confidentiality while working as part of a treatment team and adhering with program norms.</li>
<li>Participates in case conferences, treatment planning and clinical discussions to provide holistic care.</li>
<li>Communicates with prescribing psychiatrists regarding psychotropic medication compliance, side effects, follow up appointments.</li>

Treatment Setting Responsibilities:

<li>Facilitates/co-facilitates process and psycho-educational groups for chronically mentally ill adults with co-morbid substance abuse diagnoses.</li>
<li>Assists Intake Department with initial psychological assessments for individuals seeking admission to program.</li>
<li>Assists clients and their care coordinators with referrals and other linkages to community resources.</li>
<li>Performs floor duties in the milieu that include (but are not limited to) assisting clients in coordinating outside appointments and transportation, overseeing client participation in program activities, monitoring medications compliance, and mediating client conflict when it arises.</li>
<li>Actively participate with the treatment team to continuously assess and refine clinical programming efforts.</li>
<li>Manages client risk and crisis intervention.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS
 Education, Experience, and Credentials

Program Overview:
Youth Villages' residential programs in Tennessee and Georgia provide safe, nurturing environments for youth ages 6 to 17 with complex behavioral and mental health challenges. A key focus is to help each youth step down to the least restrictive treatment option possible by developing the skills they need to thrive in less structured environments through trauma-informed care, clinical interventions, life skills building, and recreation therapy (in selection locations). Most youth also attend fully accredited schools located on our campuses, ensuring their educational progress continues alongside therapeutic support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The PRN Residential Master's Level Counselor:<ul><li>
Works directly with 8 to 12 youth daily</li><li>
Utilizes evidence-based practices when providing individual, group and family therapy to each resident</li><li>
Creates individualized treatment plans for each youth and updates them bi-weekly</li><li>
Completes admissions and discharges for the youth on residential campuses (including initial assessment and psychosocial)</li><li>
Consults with the treatment team and other staff members to plan placements, transfers, and discharges of youth</li><li>
Coordinates weekend visits for youth and develop safety plans with families</li><li>
Facilitates treatment meetings and consultations</li></ul><ul><li>
Completes daily documentation (such as missed appointments, contact notes, milieu notes, and precautionary notes) in an electronic medical record system (EMR)</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned</li></ul>
Additional Information:<ul><li>
The supervision and treatment of youth requires prolonged periods of walking, standing, running, climbing stairs, and physical agility.</li><li>
Applicants must be able to participate in physical interventions when necessary and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally more than 100 pounds.</li><li>
Applicants are required to complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and CPR trainings and pass an agility and strength evaluation.</li><li>
Applicants must possess a current, valid driver&rsquo;s license.</li></ul>

<div>A Residential Counselor II provides direct support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a small group residential setting or an individual living arrangement. They work together with the people we serve, their families, friends, employers, and other support staff to transform their lives by either building independence skills or increasing each person's quality of life. 
Residential Counselors have a range of duties include administrating medication under the Medication Administration Plan (MAC), implementing treatment plans, and assisting people with activities of daily living, such as household chores and cooking. They also strengthen residents' connection to their community by providing transportation on outings such as shopping and doctor's appointments.<div> 
The essential job duties/responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the information listed 
below: 
<ul><li>Assists in developing, implementing, and documenting treatment, including ISP/IPs and clinical programs.</li><li>Provides training and support to persons served. This includes rehabilitative interventions, behavioral interventions and monitoring, fire &amp; safety regulations, appointment scheduling, money management, ADLs, grocery shopping, meal planning and cooking, household chores and other related areas. Perform hands-on tasks in the program as required in order to facilitate implementation of support plans.</li><li>Assists individuals in becoming fully integrated into their communities. Assists residents with community-based support and resource services. Plans recreational and social activities to promote the emotional well-being of persons served and improve quality of life. Driving Requirements: 
Driving is a requirement for this position using either a Vinfen van or personal vehicle. If using a personal vehicle, you must possess and maintain adequate insurance as well as maintain a safe driving record which is subject to annual checks. A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment. Incumbents must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least six months and must be able to pass a driver's screening background check. 
Physical Effort: 
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb as this is a very physically active position. 
Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or the use of a two-person lift.
