Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
Certification / Registration / License<ul><li>
Basic Life Support (BLS). Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required based on specialty.</li><li>
Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services</li></ul>
Note: Licensed nurses practicing via telehealth/telenursing/virtual modalities are required to be licensed or hold the privilege to practice in the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located. Licensed nurses are responsible and accountable for knowing, understanding, and practicing in compliance with the laws, rules, regulations, and standards of practice of the state(s) where the client(s) is/are located.

Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.</li><li>
Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.</li><li>
Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.</li><li>
Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.</li><li>
May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.</li><li>
Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.</li><li>
Physical Abilities Testing may be required.</li><li>

About the Role

Tennessee Oncology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to support its inpatient hematology and oncology services within a private practice hospital setting. In this role, you will provide inpatient rounding care, working primarily with hospitalized hematology patients while collaborating closely with physicians and the care team. The position offers significant clinical responsibility; APPs must be comfortable working autonomously in a hospital-based environment. This opportunity is well suited for an experienced APP with direct hospitalist and hematology/oncology experience who values independent practice, clinical depth, and patient-centered care.

Clinical Medical Assistant Duties
 
Clinical Medical Assistant job duties involve working with patients in a clinical context, assisting physicians during procedures, and performing light medical procedures. Because of the responsibilities that come with medical practice, the clinical medical assistant duties are regulated differently from state to state. Medical assistants are always required to be supervised by a physician.
 
The basic duties of medical assistants include:

<li>Taking patient vital signs</li>
<li>Taking medical histories</li>
<li>Preparing patients for medical tests and examinations</li>
<li>Assisting practitioners during examinations</li>
<li>Explaining medical procedures to patients</li>
<li>Sterilizing medical instruments</li>
<li>Maintaining the confidentiality of patient information</li>
<li>Managing inventory and ordering supplies</li>
<li>Scheduling patient medical procedures</li>
<li>Following up on patient visits</li>
<li>Updating patient records</li>
<li>Obtaining pre-authorizations/pre-certifications</li>
<li>Checking the patient portal and responding to patients</li>
<li>Ordering lab tests and imaging studies</li>
<li>Scheduling patient appointments</li>
<li>Answering phones</li>
<li>Greeting patients</li>
<li>Performing computer data entry</li>
<li>Ability to multi-task various job duties</li>
<li>Ability to handle different personalities and personal situations—both patient and coworkers</li>
<li>Ability to understand the theories, reasons, and technical aspects of medicine</li>
<li>A formal education from an accredited medical assistant school or medical assistant training program; certification preferred</li>
</ul>
