<ul><li>Will be required to operate all types of equipment to perform all safety functions, including, but not limited to, operating manual transmission, chaining tires, etc. and must be skilled and qualified to drive in all types of terrain, routes and environmental conditions.
</li><li>Responsible for safely operating a tractor/trailer in the transportation of freight in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local laws with regard to run times and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations
</li><li>Must adhere to all FMCSA requirements of those holding a Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License
</li><li>Maintain records required with compliance with local, state and federal regulations
</li><li>Comply with all requirements for safe and legal transportation of hazardous materials
</li><li>Insure security of equipment and cargo
</li><li>Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safe working conditions of the tractor and trailer prior to each trip and at the end of each trip
</li><li>Check gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, ensure seal or lock on trailers and conducts inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring
</li><li>Promptly report all maintenance problems to Fleet Services and/or supervision
</li><li>Verify unit numbers versus paperwork given and report any discrepancies to your supervisor
</li><li>May be required to use in-cab technology, to include electronic logs and other items
</li><li>May be required to drive different schedules and work the dock based on business needs
</li><li>Provide professional and courteous service to our customers and the general public

<ul><li>High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background
</li><li>21 years of age required per FMCSA regulations (1 year driving experience required)
</li><li>Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License
</li><li>Must be registered with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
</li><li>Must reside within 75 miles of the domiciled terminal and/or work assignment
</li><li>HazMat, Tanker and Doubles endorsements required (LCV requirement may apply)
</li><li>Must be able to drive a tractor trailer for a period of time that will conform to FMCSA requirements

Position Summary: 
 
Responsible for supervision and training of drivers located at the Albany, Oneonta &amp; Binghamton Domicile Yard in connection with the main Operating Company (OpCo), and for ensuring deliveries are made in safe, efficient and timely manner. Assists with monitoring Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, ensures drivers are in compliance with all DOT and OpCo regulations, and coordinates the tracking of all relevant information on drivers. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company 
 
Position Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Supervises associates to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution. Assists in scheduling as well as ensuring deliveries and pickups are made in a timely manner. Rides with drivers for training and/or evaluation purposes.</li><li>
Assists Transportation/Operations Manager with overall day-to-day administration of transportation and delivery functions, which may include calculating driver payroll, reviewing driver trip logs and expense reports, identifying and resolving problems, and ensuring that drivers are compliant with DOT and OpCo regulations. Operates computer keyboard to enter and access data in automated fleet management system.</li><li>
Ensures drivers fulfill duties safely by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices. May attend quarterly safety meetings.</li><li>
Coordinates tracking of all relevant information on drivers, such as license status, traffic tickets, accidents and other risk and safety-related data.</li><li>
Ensures accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork including invoices, cash receipts, collection register, trip reports, fuel tickets, deposit slips, DOT logs, Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), driver qualification files and accident reporting.</li><li>
Ensures maintenance of all trucks, tractors and trailers through detailed review of post-trip inspections.</li><li>
Works in conjunction with Transportation or Operations Manager to minimize operating expenses and to ensure all deliveries are efficiently routed.</li><li>
Required to periodically attend meetings and report directly to the Springfield Mass operating company.</li><li>
Performs other related duties as assigned. To include covering routes when needed.</li></ul>
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience 
 
2-4 years transportation or related experience including knowledge of DOT and safety regulations, along with 
experience in operation of computerized fleet management systems
