Essential Job Duties:</p>
<ul>
<li>RT must make regular rounds, supervise resident&rsquo;s oxygen equipment, changing humidifiers, and inspecting respiratory therapy equipment on a time basis.</li>
<li>Performs pulmonary function studies determining volume, distribution, and movement of air in residents respiratory system.</li>
<li>Performs chest physical therapy treatments involving percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning in order to mobilize secretions and mucus in lungs and to clear airway blockage in respiratory system.</li>
<li>Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment. Conducts physician prescribed treatments of a routine nature operating Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPB) Machine, various oxygen devices, nebulizer and ultrasonic nebulizer in order to administer prescribed medicinal vapors and gases, humidity, and various oxygen concentrations to resident&rsquo;s respiratory system.</li>
</ul>
<p><b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b></p>

<li>Graduation from approved Respiratory Therapy program preferred</li>
<li>1 year experience treating multiple patients</li>
<li>Must have current Basic Life Support certification</li>
<li>Must be able to work under stress and in emergency situations</li>

Under the direction of the Institution designee, the Temporary/Relief Respiratory Care Practitioner shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for Respiratory Care Practitioner services in accordance with Institution/Facility policies and procedures. The Respiratory Care Practitioner must be able to work in conditions that require all the following essential functions:<br>

a. Perform care consistent with generally accepted evidence based practice.<br>
b. Set up equipment and provide instructions for use of equipment for each patient/youth per established policy and procedure.<br>
c. Perform complete medical evaluations of patient either during regularly scheduled clinic hours or upon request for consult by either the designee and make appropriate recommendations for treatment to the referring physician, designee.<br>
d. Maintain all charting daily. Any chart remaining delinquent for more than ten (10) days could result in termination of this Temporary/Relief Respiratory Care Practitioner;<br>
e. Aid in the development and updating of policy and procedures related to respiratory therapy.<br>

Day-to-Day tasks for Respiratory Therapist (RT):</b></div><br>

Screens and provides an in-depth evaluation of the needs of ventilator and respiratory clients.</li><li>
Identifies individual problems and needs through continuously collective objectives and subjective data based on interview, observation and review of individual records.</li><li>
Consults with the attending physician regarding treatment protocol. Provides written recommendations for interdisciplinary care planning and treatment.</li><li>
Contributes to the development, maintenance, and evaluation of the individual care plan.</li><li>
Respiratory Care interventions are consistent with the individual care plan and standards of practices as described by the AARC and/or state regulating agencies.</li><li>
Documentation is appropriate and reflects the care plan and reflects the individual&rsquo;s response to respiratory care interventions for scheduled and PRN treatment.</li><li>
Identifies problems and develops a complete plan of care according to facility/unit policy and federal/state regulations.</li><li>
Maintains written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries of individuals receiving respiratory treatment and monitoring according to state, federal, and facility policies.</li><li>
Maintains documentation regarding the administration of medications and other required records.</li><li>
Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with the approved respiratory techniques.</li><li>
Initiates ventilator weaning protocol and/or respiratory rehabilitation in accordance with physician&rsquo;s orders; maintains required contact with physician.</li><li>
Identifies deviations from expected lab values, monitoring etc. as related to scope of practice.</li><li>
Assess each assigned individual daily.</li><li>
Communicates pertinent individual and assignment information to coworkers, Manager, and interdisciplinary team members, including physician as appropriate.</li><li>
Confers with personnel of other departments and provides required training to meet special needs of individuals.</li><li>
Demonstrates flexibility in response to schedule changes, emergencies, individual needs.</li><li>

Provide required training to new staff, family/caregivers on specific respiratory equipment and procedures.</li><li>
Assists with conducting in-service training programs for other personnel involved in direct care of respiratory individuals.</li><li>
Administers inhaled medications to ventilator dependent individuals and assigned pulmonary rehabilitation clients.</li><li>
Documents, reports, and follows through on abnormal findings with physicians/nurses/team.</li></ul>
Qualifications:

Respiratory Therapist (RT):</b></div><ul><li>
Minimum of Associate&rsquo;s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited educational institution; Bachelor&rsquo;s degree preferred</li><li>
Possession of active, unencumbered state Respiratory Therapist license in state where work is performed. Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist by National Board of Respiratory Care.</li><li>
Must possess a valid CPR from AHA Healthcare provider.</li><li>
Must be at least 21 years of age at applicable PSC locations</li><li>
