I. Position Function:
The Security Officer shall seek to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, employees, and visitors of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
Protection of Medical Center buildings, properties, and premises.
II. Authority:
Has the authority to conduct investigations of all accidents, crimes, and incidents occurring within the jurisdiction of the Security Department. This includes interviewing, collecting information, writing and filing reports, and consulting with law enforcement agencies when appropriate. Complete and enforce all life safety requirements including initiating fire safety drills and completing fire extinguisher checks.
The Security Officer has the authority to invoke other departments at the Medical Center to comply with safety directives issued by policy, the Director of Security. 
The Security Officer has the authority to carry out any and all directives as issued by the Director of Security.
III. A. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 
Patrols on foot and by vehicle all properties owned or protected by the Medical Center. Maintains a visible presence in the Hospital to assure staff and visitors of their safety.
Investigates and documents all incidents and accidents that occur on Medical Center property; completed reports of shift activity in accordance with department policy and procedure.
Monitors the conduct of visitors on Hospital premises; addresses unauthorized persons as necessary.
Conducts fire drills as directed by the Director of Security and completes all documentation of events.
Acts as liaison between the Medical Center, law enforcement personnel, fire department personnel, and other outside agencies as required.
Inspects, troubleshoots, and provides preventive maintenance to all security systems as directed by the Director of Security.
Monitors and patrols Hospital parking areas. Issues Warning Tickets, Violations notices and Notice of tow stickers to unauthorized vehicles in accordance with St. Elizabeth's Medical Center Parking Rules and Regulations.
Assists with the transport of the deceased into the Morgue area; responsible for documenting patient information upon entry and release from the Morgue and documents valuables prior to release to Funeral Director, EM&rsquo;s Office or designated transporting agency.
Responds to any assistance requests from Hospital staff. To include, but not limited to restraining patients and provides standby procedures at the direction of the Nursing Staff.
Notifies the Director of Security of any completed Maintenance Requisitions for repairs noted during patrol.
Shall record and secure all patient valuables, patient belongings, and lost and found items that are turned in to Security during the assigned shift ensuring an accurate inventory. Releasing of patient valuables and belongings will be documented.
Security Officer shall ensure all parties are in compliance with the Medical Center identification program.
Conducts door locks and unlocks as appropriate.
 When acting as a Lead Officer in the absence of a Security Shift Supervisor, the acting Lead Security officer will oversee the daily activities of the Security Department and notify the Director of Security of all activities accordingly.

Reports any hazardous conditions and suspicious activity to the Sergeant, Lieutenant or Mission Control dispatcher immediately, using radio and other means of communication according to established departmental procedures
Completes Daily Activity Reports (DAR), Incident, and TCH Online reports as required by the hospital and departmental procedures.
Assists in emergency situations by following the proper procedure for response
Enforces departmental and organizational rules for area assigned
Documents incidents as directed by security supervision
Provides outstanding service to meet the organizations goals and values
Operates and maintains TCH and departmental equipment and supplies in good working order
Ensures daily functionality of radio equipment and reports any operational issues to the supervisor
Conducts all other duties assigned by Security Supervisors as needed.
If certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), may respond in the case of an emergency and use AED and Personal Protective Equipment
Responds to and assists hospital personnel with patient transport, elevator prioritization and reports during fire alarms, accidents, missing child alerts, and elevator entrapments
Trains for and responds to disaster situations in the hospital including visitor management functions, emergency lockdown, active patrol, de-escalations, security standbys, and other emergency job functions.
Attends and completes hospital and departmental required training
Successfully completes all necessary exams for initial and ongoing certifications
Attends training and keeps certifications up to date

Skills &amp; Requirements
H.S. Diploma or GED
Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association,
NCSO - Noncommission Security Officer by the Texas Department of Public Safety - Private Security Board, acquired within 90 days of entering the role,
TDR - Texas Driver's License by the State of Texas, acquired within 90 days of entering the role, and must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check demonstrating a clear driving record as defined by the routine driver qualifications outlined in the Texas Children's Fleet Safety Policy and Procedure by the job entry date. Must also maintain a clean driving record
1 year of Security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience</div>
