ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
<ul>
<li>Represents the Health System by providing assistance and guidance to all patients, staff and visitors to the SJMHS West Market Campuses.</li>
<li>Patrols and monitors the internal and external activities of the grounds, parking lots, structures, and buildings to ensure compliance with health center policies, state law, and federal laws, responding to and reporting any and all violations to a command officer. Responds to any and all reports of criminal activity and effect arrests as appropriate within the parameters of security police policy/procedures, state and federal law, and Michigan Commission of Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES); utilizing the necessary force to effect arrest, using handcuffs, and other restraints in accordance with department procedures, policies and regulations.</li>
<li>Responds to a variety of potential and/or real emergencies, fire and building alarms, ordinary events (patient standby/restraint), person(s) with weapons, medical emergencies, and/or any other public safety related incident. Exercise reasonable independent judgment within legal parameters of law to determine when there is reasonable suspicion to detain and/or search, when probable cause exists to arrest, and the appropriate application of force used to preserve life and property.</li>
<li>Completes a daily activity report documenting non-routine activities for referral to the appropriate manager.</li>
<li>Completes a written report involving a complaint and/or investigation of criminal activity, violation of security policy and procedure, suspicious activity, and/or any incident involving the use of force. The Security Police Officer shall utilize the appropriate documenting procedures and complete the report in its entirety.</li>
<li>Completes as assigned all defibrillator and vehicle maintenance checks.</li>
<li>Maintains all security police equipment in working condition. Proactively recognizes and reports to command officer any safety risks and/or hazards and when possible takes immediate action to reduce or remove the risk and/or hazard.</li>
<li>Responds to complaints generated by patients, staff, and visitors including reports of lost property, suspicious activity, improper access and suspicious packages.</li>
<li>Responds to general assist calls generated by patients, staff, and visitors, including locking/unlocking doors, vehicle lockouts and jumpstarts, wheelchair assists, and or any customer service related issues.</li>
<li>Reports to Grounds any parking lot gates not functioning properly. Issues citations for improper parking, handicap, and fire lane violations.</li>
<li>Self-reports to a command officer any off-duty police contact, arrests, and court orders such as Injunctions, Personal Protection Orders, and legal proceedings that would prevent the Security Police Officer from owning, possessing, or carrying a firearm i.e. Domestic Violence Order, or conditional bond release. Failure to report this information will result in immediate termination.</li>
<li>Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Identifies problems, offers solutions, and participates in their resolution.</li>
<li>Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, associates, and visitors to St. Joseph Mercy Health System. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.</li>
<li>Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of SJMHS.</li>
<li>Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.</li>
<li>Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, local laws and regulations applicable to their role, Trinity Health Standards of Conduct, the Organizational Integrity Program, Security Police policy and procedure, and any related policies and procedures pertaining to the adherence of behavior that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.</li>

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
 
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred.</li>
<li>Minimum 1 year of experience in campus security/police, military, or law enforcement required.</li>
<li>Successfully complete and pass a psychological evaluation.</li>
<li>Current MCOLES license preferred or ability to pass MCOLES PA330 Academy Training within six months of hire date or the first available academy</li>
<li>Maintain the qualifications required by MCOLES and the State of Michigan.</li>
<li>Maintain valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license.</li>
<li>Demonstrates the ability to operate an Electronic Control Device (aka Taser); manipulate cartridges, aim/fire projectile probes from a variety of positions in situations that justify the use of force while maintaining emotional control under extremely stressful situations. Conduct Taser aftercare procedures as required by policy and procedure.</li>
<li>Maintains Taser Certification and demonstrates Taser proficiency annually through a certified Taser qualification test and a review of use of force policy.</li>

Join a mission-critical team supporting NASA as a Battalion Chief of Operations Training with Chenega at Kennedy Space Center, FL. In this dynamic role, you&rsquo;ll lead and manage daily security operations, respond to emergencies as the initial Incident Commander, and ensure the safety of personnel and property using established protocols and the Incident Command System. You&rsquo;ll also deliver hands-on training, operate specialized equipment, and maintain peak physical readiness.</div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li><div>
Emergency Response &amp; Incident Command 
Responds to emergency calls and assumes Incident Command, directing fire suppression, medical aid, rescue operations, and hazardous materials mitigation until relieved by a higher authority.</div></li><li><div>
Training &amp; Supervision 
Conducts and documents recurring and specialized training for fire department personnel. Supervises Lieutenants, Drivers, Paramedics, and Firefighters to ensure operational readiness and performance.</div></li><li><div>
Operational Knowledge &amp; Equipment Use 
Applies expert knowledge of fire suppression techniques, rescue procedures, and operates specialized equipment including hydraulic tools, fire apparatus, and emergency vehicles.</div></li><li><div>
Safety &amp; Compliance 
Adheres to and enforces company, personnel, and safety policies. Ensures compliance with certification procedures, departmental regulations, and emergency response standards.</div></li><li><div>
Communication &amp; Coordination 
Interfaces professionally with customers and contractors. Communicates effectively through verbal, written, and electronic methods to coordinate emergency and routine operations.</div></li><li><div>
Preparedness &amp; Physical Fitness 
Participates in daily fitness programs and maintains readiness for technical rescue, HazMat operations, and Pad Rescue functions. Engages in ongoing training and certification activities.</div></li><li><div>
Additional Responsibilities 
Performs other duties as assigned, including supporting diversity, upholding ethical standards, participating in continuous process improvement, and contributing to a respectful and inclusive workplace.</div></li></ul>
Qualifications:

Fire Officer II (DoD IFSAC, Pro Board, or Florida State)</li><li>
Fire Instructor I (DoD IFSAC, Pro Board, or Florida State)</li><li>
Hazardous Materials Operations (DoD IFSAC, Pro Board, or Florida State)</li><li>
NIMS ICS: 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800</li><li>
Airport Firefighter (must obtain within 1 year of hire)</li></ul></li><li><div>
General Requirements:</div><ul><li>
High school diploma or GED</li><li>
Minimum age: 21</li><li>
Valid Class E Florida driver&rsquo;s license</li><li>
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance</li><li>

Must meet NASA physical and psychological certification standards</li><li>
Must pass drug and alcohol screenings, including random testing</li><li>

Schedule: Part Time Flex (Day/Swing/Grave)

The Security Professional Flex Officer may be called upon to work irregular shifts at times with little to no advance notice. 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
<ul><li>Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle</li>
<li>Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards</li>
<li>Sound alarms or calls police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons</li>
<li>Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles</li>
<li>Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits</li>
<li>Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensures that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements</li>
<li>Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post</li>
<li>Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner</li>
<li>Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders</li></ul>
QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):
<ul><li>Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent or 5 years of verifiable experience</li>
<li>Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment</li>
<li>Valid driver's license if driving a company or customer-owned vehicle</li>
<li>As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws; Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws</li>
<li>As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law</li>
