</b></p><ul><li>Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information. Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods. (40%)
</li><li>Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation. Troubleshoots problems with quality controls and test procedures and takes appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information. (20%)
</li><li>Serves as a consultant to laboratory personnel and other health care providers, as needed. Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory. (10%)
</li><li>May collect and process patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within the expected time frames. (10 %)
</li><li>May mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy, and lab processor students and new hires in laboratory testing following AHN policies and procedures. (10%)

<b>Minimum
</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in ASCP eligible program or successful completion of HEW exam. Meet ongoing education requirements for certification.
</li><li>Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) OR Medical Technologist (MT) within one year of hire. Incumbents employed as AHN Medical Technologists prior 6/1/2022 are exempt from this expectation.

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. The Medical Technologist I performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. This role ensures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to quality control protocols and maintaining laboratory instruments. The Medical Technologist I supports patient care by completing tests efficiently, troubleshooting equipment, and assisting in data collection for regulatory compliance. This position may also include teaching new employees and students and performing phlebotomy duties as needed.<br>
