<div>About The Position 
 
The Senior Research Scientist (Pre-clinical) serves as a scientific lead for pre-clinical research projects at the Uniformed Services University (USU) Center for Biotechnology (4DBio&sup3;), providing technical and management support and overseeing project execution. In addition, the Senior Research Scientist (Pre-clinical) will bring critical subject matter expertise to 4DBio&sup3; and assist in coordinating the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team of government and contract researchers, academic experts and consumers, all in support of the 4DBio&sup3; mission. Among other projects, the Senior Research Scientist (Pre-clinical) will play a key leadership role on 4DBio&sup3;'s blood research portfolio that includes the On-Demand Blood project which is focused on developing the scientific understanding and bioengineering solutions to manufacture and/or optimize a full range of human blood products for use in austere environments. 
 
This position is 100% onsite at the Uniformed Services University Offsite 4DBio&sup3; Laboratory in Rockville, MD. A thorough government background check will be administered. We are seeking to fill this role asap, therefore visa sponsorship may not be available.

The USU 4DBio&sup3; is a Center for Biotechnology that develops and adapts promising new biotechnology to benefit Warfighter readiness and resilience. Salary Range 
 
$135,000 - $155,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate&rsquo;s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

 Qualifications

 A PhD degree in relevant field
 </li>
 <li>
 5-7 + years of hands-on experience in molecular genetics, cloning, gene editing, viral vector production, cell culture.

 Strong scientific track records, including successful management of research projects, and/or demonstrated operational excellence, and/or publication in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
 </li>

 In-depth knowledge and strong expertise in cell and molecular genetics.

 Proven experience in the production of viral vectors (such as AAVs, Lentiviruses, Rabies Virus etc.) and gene manipulation technologies.

 Experience in primary human cell immortalization.
 </li>
 <li>
 Demonstrated ability to collaborate with researchers in the biological sciences, understand their experimental needs, and translate these into effective genetic tools.
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent organization skills with a proven ability to manage and execute multiple research projects simultaneously.
 </li>
 <li>
 Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders and foster a collaborative work environment.
 </li>
