The Associate General Counsel should have significant years of progressively responsible legal experience working in higher education litigating or counseling on labor and employment matters in higher education and shall be primarily responsible for handling more complex matters.</div><div>
This position reports to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsels. This attorney will work in a variety of areas, with a focus on providing advice, counsel, and representation in labor and employment matters.<br>

Among the key duties of the position are the following:</div><ul>
<li>Preparing and litigating more complex arbitrations of contractual and disciplinary grievances that have the potential for significant financial or precedential impact on the university arising under faculty and staff collective negotiations agreements; providing guidance and assisting with the development of strategy and proposals in collective negotiations in coordination with the Office of University Labor Relations.</li>
<li>Handling complex unfair practice charges and other proceedings before the New Jersey Public Employment Relations Commission that have the potential for significant f inancial or precedential impact on the university; conducting research, rendering advice, and representing the University in increasingly complex employment-related administrative proceedings before such agencies as the EEOC and New Jersey Division on Civil Rights.</li>
<li>Providing advice and counsel on a wide variety of increasingly complex legal issues that affect a public institution of higher education, primarily including labor, employment, and constitutional issues, as well as issues arising under Title IX,FERPA, and other student-related issues; analyzing and evaluating pending legislation and regulations to determine if they apply to the University and, if so, their impact on the University; providing advice and guidance pertaining to drafting and reviewing University-wide policies and procedures; assisting with, participating in and, where appropriate, organizing and leading training and preventative law presentations for University administrators, managers and staff; participating in other legal projects as requested by the General Counsel or other supervising attorneys.</li>

<div> <p>The Executive Vice President, General Counsel manages the legal and compliance affairs of DCS Corporation, a government contractor delivering advanced engineering and technical services in support of national security. Headquartered in Alexandria, VA, DCS is a mid-tier, privately held company with over 2,000 employees and 17 offices throughout the U.S. The General Counsel is expected to lead and manage a strategic, proactive, efficient, business-focused, and service-oriented legal function, demonstrating a mindset and practice that is both consultative and solutions-driven.</p><p>

<div><p>Johns Hopkins University is seeking a senior level <b><i>Associate General Counsel, </i></b><b><i>Healthcare &amp; Research/Transactions</i></b>. This attorney will act as a healthcare transactions expert and provide legal guidance and counsel on transactions involving physician group acquisitions, healthcare affiliations and services agreements. Working as part of a team that includes finance, planning and other professionals, this individual will be the legal and compliance expert in structuring, drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide variety of healthcare transactions.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
Specific Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><p></p><ul><li>
Serve as lead transactional attorney on behalf of JHU in negotiating, structuring, and managing joint JHU/JHHS affiliations with, and acquisitions of, third party entities including health systems, FQHCs, physician practices and community hospitals.
</li><li>Spot regulatory issues and, in partnership with other internal and external counsel as needed, ensure compliance with the Stark Act and antikickback laws.</li><li>

Minimum Qualifications</b><br>

A Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school.

Eight or more (8+) years of legal experience, including a minimum of five years (5+) spent advising health care clients, preferably academic medical centers, or similar complex health care organizations.</li><li>
Experience drafting documents of substantial complexity in a high-volume environment, including acquisition documents for physician practices, and negotiating professional services, employment, and other agreements involving physicians and physician groups.</li><li>
