Respond to airport standby, fire and crash alarms and supervises and assists Firefighters at the fire scene.</p></li><li><p>
Inspect fire apparatus, equipment, station, fuel, and the surrounding grounds to ensure proper order conditions.</p></li><li><p>
Drive aircraft firefighting and rescue vehicles to crash scenes or to prearranged runway positions in anticipation of disabled aircraft landing.</p></li><li><p>

Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on firefighting and rescue equipment, conduct training sessions and exercise and reviews and prepare shift and incident records and reports.</p></li><li><p>

This Correctional Officer Lieutenant position is located at Okeechobee Correctional Institution. The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code. The Officer assigned to this position has responsibility for supervising Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants assigned to any security post on any of the established shifts. This position serves as the initial commander during emergency situations. Functions as facility manager during non-administrative hours.</p>
<p>
Duties include but are not limited to the following:</p>
<p>
Plans, organizes and coordinates the activities of all Correctional Officers and Correctional Officer Sergeants assigned to a shift. Delegates post assignments, specific duty assignments, coordinates leave use and ensures accurate completion of attendance and leave reports. Works with employees to ensure proper security coverage. Conducts periodic individual counseling with staff to outline problem areas and to give additional duties or instructions. May take or recommend non-appealable disciplinary action or recommend appealable disciplinary action to higher level management.</p>
<p>
Supervises searches for contraband and makes daily inspections of buildings and grounds. Inspects physical plant for security concerns and to maintain proper sanitation standards. Circulates throughout institution observing officers&rsquo; performance. Conducts performance evaluations. Schedules and/or coordinates training programs for subordinates. Conducts continuous training of subordinate staff in security procedures.</p>
<p>
Supervises and coordinates body cavity searches as authorized by the Warden, Assistant Warden or Chief Correctional Officer. Authorizes non-emergency applications of use of force per DC Rule 33-3.0065(3).</p>
<p>
Supervises inmates at the level of risk they present. Manages inmate housing areas, enforces rules and sanitation standards. Transports inmates using approved restraints and observing relevant laws, policies and procedures. Conducts accurate head counts, maintains custody and control over inmates at appointments outside the secured perimeter and escorts inmates within the secured perimeter.</p>
<p>
Performs crisis intervention functions to include, but not limited to restraining violent or uncooperative inmates, defending persons against attack, and preventing escapes, using approved deadly or non-deadly force, restraints or other approved methods. Provides emergency assistance during emergencies, disasters and accidents to include, but not limited to, CPR, first aid, implementation of evacuation procedures, security of inmates and/or areas in accordance with the emergency situation.</p>
<p>
Conducts inspections and visual and audio surveillance of persons, property, vehicles, building and outdoor areas. Physically checks doors, windows, gates, barred sections, fences and other areas to ensure proper security.</p>

</ul><ul><li>Supervise fire apparatus and equipment operations and assist firefighters and EMT's when necessary.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Inspect station buildings, grounds, quarters, equipment, supplies, and firefighting appliances.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Train and drill station in all phases of firefighting, rescue, emergency medical care and fire prevention to include development and implementation of new programs.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Prepare and maintain various fire reports, schedules and records and operate department computer.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Perform various personnel functions to include maintaining files and reports.</li>
</ul><ul><li>May perform duties of higher classification when assigned.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Perform other related work as required.</li>
</ul><ul><li>May be required to work overtime or be called back to work with short notice in the case of emergent events.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Supervise the work of the firefighters; evaluate performance and make recommendations regarding disciplining employees.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Conduct fire prevention programs, and educational and informational programs throughout the plant.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ability to work during inclement weather.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Heavy work: Exerting up to 200 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Must have visual and audio acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment, machines such as fire equipment and apparatuses.</li>
</ul><ul><li>May be subject to outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures and weather.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Subject to high noise levels.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.</li>
</ul><ul><li>May be required to be fitted for and/or wear a respirator.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, often without breaks, and may be required to climb stairs or ladders and walk up inclines and on uneven terrain.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Must meet all physical and psychological standards as required by the contract.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Travel may be required.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Must be able to perform all tasks of a Firefighter/EMS professional.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Must be able to perform tasks while wearing an SCBA and full firefighting PPE.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Other duties that may be assigned by the Fire Captain and/or Fire Chief.</li></ul><br>

QUALIFICATIONS</b></div>

<li>US Citizen.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Must be at least 18 years old to apply.</li>
</ul><ul><li>GED or High School Diploma.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Valid drivers' license.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.</li>
</ul><ul><li>At least two (2) years' experience as a full-time career Firefighter with the RFAAP Fire/Rescue Department.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Firefighter II.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Haz-Mat Awareness &amp; Operations.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Fire Officer I.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Fire Instructor I.</li>
</ul><ul><li>Fire Inspector I.</li>

</ul><ul><li>EVOC Class III.</li>
