We are looking for a Social Media Editor to join our growing Social team working across four of Reach&rsquo;s top brands - Mirror, Express, Irish Star and Liverpool.com. You will come up with new and creative ways to engage with users and platforms, new and old. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive traffic to our social media platforms, increase brand awareness and maximise audience engagement.</p><p>
The right person for this role will be a self-starter who can work independently where required, however you will also have the opportunity to work closely with editors and reporters across our websites. This role requires someone quick-thinking, flexible, with a strong news sense and great knowledge of social media and video, utilising this knowledge to grow audiences. A willingness to go to cover events, alone or with a reporter is ideal. We are looking for exceptional organizational skills, as you will be maintaining our video equipment for our West Coast reporters.</p><p><b>

Job Description</b></p><p>
As a Social Media Editor, you will find and pitch stories using analytics and tools to tell you what&rsquo;s already trending, as well as finding the next big stories yourself. You will edit and post stories on our social pages and identify new platforms where our brands could thrive, all while coming up with new creative ways to drive traffic to our sites and grow our audiences.</p><p>
You will cover live events and breaking news on social media, delivering a fast turnaround on major stories across the US and around the world and bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals.</p><p><b>
Qualifications</b></p><p>
You are an experienced and digitally savvy social media professional with knowledge of media law, attention to detail and previous experience of working in a social media focused role within a newsroom environment. You have a sharp eye for a story and a keen interest in current affairs.</p><p>
You&rsquo;re an excellent communicator with the ability to sell stories that appeal to our audiences with flair, passion and skill. You are a fast but accurate writer with web and social skills, alongside a proficiency in video.</p><p>
You are comfortable working in a fast paced environment, with a strong understanding of the power of social media. You have a detailed knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, X and other social media platforms including Threads and Reddit, as well as a keen eye for emerging social media platforms.</p><p>
Strong video experience will be essential, ideally with extensive knowledge of Premier, and a background in events, sport, tabloid or breaking news is desirable, as well as experience and knowledge of Echobox.</p><p><b>

</b><ul><li>Execute Esquire&rsquo;s social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms

</li><li>Write compelling, platform-specific social copy that captures Esquire&rsquo;s distinct voice and drives engagement

</li><li>Monitor trends, breaking news, and cultural moments to inform timely and relevant content

</li></ul><b>Qualifications (What We&rsquo;re Looking For)
</b><ul><li>2+ years of experience in social media, preferably within a magazine, publisher, or digital media brand
</li><li>Strong mobile video production skills, including shooting and editing with an understanding of lighting, audio, pacing, and vertical storytelling
</li><li>Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and/or CapCut, with familiarity using native platform editing tools
</li><li>Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft sharp, engaging, and voice-driven social copy
</li><li>Deep knowledge of TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, and emerging social platforms
</li><li>Experience covering live events, red carpets, or fast-moving cultural moments is a plus
</li><li>Familiarity with analytics and publishing tools such as SocialFlow, Parse.ly, Dash Hudson, TikTok Analytics, and Meta Creator tools is a plus
