Key Responsibilities</b></p><p><b><br>
 </b>DCFS Caseworkers and Social Service Workers strive to keep children with their own families whenever safely possible by assessing their and their families' needs, getting them connected to available resources, and conducting in-home services of appropriate intensity and duration. They work to reunify children who have been removed from their homes whenever possible or find enduring safety and permanency for them through alternative options. To accomplish this, caseworkers work closely with the subject matter experts, are provided with regular professional supervision, and complete DCFS Practice Model Training while performing the following tasks:</p><ul><li><p>
Investigating reports of abuse, exploitation, and/or neglect; assessing safety, risk, strengths, and barriers and determining appropriate actions governing a family's situation.</p></li><li><p>
Working with families to create plans for children&rsquo;s safety and for ongoing services.</p></li><li><p>
Coordinating and referring services to children and families offered by community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the courts, and community partners.</p></li><li><p>
Supervising visits between parents and children to ensure safety.</p></li><li><p>
Conducting in-home visits to assess safety and track progress.</p></li><li><p>
Facilitating Child and Family Team Meetings with the family, their formal and informal supports.</p></li><li><p>
Testifying in court hearings regarding actions, findings, procedures, and protocols.</p></li><li><p>
Preparing detailed case documentation that includes: intake records, investigation summaries, assessments of safety, risk and family functioning; service plans, court reports, case history and activity logs.</p></li><li><p>
May include performing 24-hour-on-call services as needed under supervisor's direction. 24-hour on-call service assignments may be based on, and subject to, geographic employment location and/or agency demand.

</b><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li><p><br>
Previous or current employment with the DHHS; working with residential youth or adults participating in programs related to domestic violence, abuse, or homelessness; working in a domestic violence or homeless shelter, or with any agency providing mental or behavioral health services; any public or private school in an educational or social work-related role; foster or kinship provider, contracted DHHS service provider, or other fields closely related to child welfare), or a combination of experience and education to equal four years.</p></li><li><p>
If work experience was not full-time, the equivalent must be calculated in comparison to full-time. For example, two years of half-time work would be equivalent to one year of full-time work.</p></li></ul><p><b>

<br>The Agency has embraced the concept of a fully integrated system of care for all consumers of service. This requires that staff assess the client’s needs holistically and see it as their responsibility to connect the client with services needed both internal and external to the Agency, regardless of the door through which the consumer enters the system.
<br>Under the direction of a designated Clinical Supervisor, the Licensed Social Worker is responsible for direct service to clients in the Agency’s outpatient mental health programs. All services are to be delivered in a professional and ethical manner, consistent with best practice tenets. The Licensed Social Worker will function as part of a treatment team, maintains mandated levels of service, participates in Agency meetings as required and fully comply with Agency policies and procedures.
<br>The Licensed Social Worker will perform initial interview, crisis intervention, and ongoing therapy with individuals, groups, and families. The Licensed Social Worker will adhere to all standards of contract compliance, audit readiness, Agency policies and procedures, and all other regulatory requirements. The Licensed Social Worker will work as a member of a team to help ensure the overall integrity and welfare of the Agency.

These professionals come from a variety of interdisciplinary bases, establish working relationships of mutual respect and trust with the clientele served, and utilize a variety of helping interventions to enable these clients to function as effectively as possible.<br>

These positions are found in a variety of settings and work with diverse types of people. They may be found in hospitals and other health service agencies, social service agencies, schools, correctional facilities, and programs concerned with substance abuse, aging, and family violence. Although work settings and clientele may differ, all Social Workers and Human Service Professionals use similar professional concepts, principles and techniques regardless of the program in which they work.<br>

The Social Worker or Human Services Professional IV positions are distinguished by the complexity of assigned cases and level of authority assumed by the worker. The following summarizes the types of positions found at these levels:<br>

<b>Type A:</b> The fully trained, experienced Social Worker or Human Services Professional who independently performs the full range of professional human services work for a caseload consisting of predominantly highly complex cases. These are cases where clients frequently exhibit extreme hostility (which may include violent behavior to others or themselves) or resistance to services, possibly because they have been repeatedly referred to or compelled to accept agency services; have multiple and/or severe psychological, mental, physical, and environmental problems or have become the focus of notoriety and/or intense public scrutiny; and there is difficulty in determining or obtaining appropriate services, and in having clients accept services and comply with treatment plans.<br>

<b>Type B:</b> The fully trained and experienced Social Worker or Human Services Professional who serves as a program specialist under the direction of a higher-level specialist or other professional and is assigned a program which is fairly narrow in scope and/or generally part of a larger program area. Work may encompass various tasks such as interpreting, clarifying and developing guidelines within the overall scope of the larger program; drafting policies and implementation plans; developing training guides and providing training; and monitoring and reporting on implementation.<br>

<b>Type C:</b> The fully trained, experienced Social Worker or Human Services Professional who spends a significant portion of the work time in direct performance of work typical of the Social Worker or Human Services Professional III and concurrently supervises a small group of less experienced Social Workers or Human Services Professionals and/or others providing professional human services, without having significant program management responsibilities.<br>
