About the Role:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer who is best in class with a high IQ plus a high EQ. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement. 
 
As a Senior Software Engineer with Sezzle, you will work with a highly-motivated team to tackle interesting and challenging problems across multiple areas of the organization. Your experience and guidance will help other members of the team level-up their own skills as well.

In this backend focused role, you will work closely with stakeholders from Product, Support and the business. You'll also partner with other engineering teams to provide high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions to internal and customer problems. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include designing, developing, and delivering new features, as well as unblocking and mentoring your teammates.

This role has both an internal and external focus, your contributions will make a meaningful difference in the day-to-day lives of your peers at Sezzle, enhancing their ability to support our business and customers, and you will have opportunities to take any feedback and iterate. 


Key Role Responsibilities:

<li>Design and implement software applications and features using Golang and React.</li>
<li>Help build and evolve a distributed architecture&mdash;designing solutions that integrate cleanly into the broader ecosystem, remain consistent across services, and scale reliably as demand grows.</li>
<li>Work closely with internal company stakeholders to design and deliver market-winning products.</li>
<li>Develop, instrument, and monitor metrics that drive continuous improvement of existing products and systems.</li>
<li>Deliver high-quality, testable software that adheres to engineering best practices, observability standards, and reporting requirements.</li>
<li>When needed, lead small development teams to drive projects from inception to launch.</li>
<li>Mentor engineering teammates to elevate their technical skill sets and support their career growth.</li>
</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Minimum Requirements</h3>
<ul><li>At least 5 years of full-stack software engineering experience.</li>
<li>Experience ideating, proposing, and gaining consensus on technical direction.</li>
<li>Experience building and serving REST APIs using Go and at least one other language (Java, Python, or similar).</li>
<li>Experience working within distributed, cloud-based architectures&mdash;including patterns like transactional outboxes or queuing tools (RabbitMQ, SQS, Kafka).</li>
<li>Strong infrastructure and backend engineering background, examples including:</li>
<li><ul><li>Deploying and operating services in production using containers, Kubernetes, ECS, or similar.</li>
<li>Using a cache such as Redis in real systems (sessions, queues, rate-limiting, ephemeral state).</li>
</ul></li>BS in Computer Science or related field.

</ul><h3 class="jobSectionHeader">Preferred Knowledge &amp; Skills</h3>
<ul><li>Experience with SQL-based RDBMS through an ORM toolkit.</li>
<li>Comfortable using observability platforms (Prometheus, New Relic, Datadog, etc.) to instrument systems for production monitoring and alerting.</li>
<li>DevOps experience with modern CI/CD pipelines.</li>
<li>Familiarity with containerized microservice architectures deployed on Kubernetes in AWS.</li>
<li>Demonstrated history of delivering commercial APIs, web applications, and production services.</li>
<li>A track record of shipping products to market and iterating based on user and stakeholder feedback.</li>
<li>Experience with telephony and real-time communications systems, including:</li>
<li><ul><li>Building or supporting IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and ACD (Automatic Call Distribution) capabilities for call centers.</li>
<li>Integrating with telecommunications/SIP providers or CPaaS platforms such as Twilio, Plivo, SignalWire, Synch, etc.</li>
<li>Designing and operating media flows such as call routing, SIP signaling, or audio pipelines.</li>
<li>Experience with WebRTC, audio/video media handling, recording pipelines, and transcription workflows.</li>

Compensation:

For this senior development role, with 5+ years of experience, the compensation range is $5,000 - $9,500 USD per month.
