Job Summary: 
The position of the Software Automation Engineer requires an individual with a minimum of a BSCS, BSCE, BSEE, or BSEET degree. The candidate demonstrates at least 1 year of applied academic or professional programming experiences in some and not limited to: Visual Studio, C#, C++, other scripted languages, IEC 61131-3 industrial languages, SQL, data sources and data sharing.
 The software engineer works with a team of automation engineers and process engineers to develop process control concepts into machinery, support/modify software interfaced with hardware on existing machinery or design new program-controlled processes to meet manufacturing requirements. The software engineer should have basic electronics knowledge and familiarity with industrial protocols and interface techniques.
 Software development experience should include a variety of computer languages ranging from assembly language to higher order languages to address programming objectives related to automated process control, test/measurement, and data sharing. Programs are created to integrate the construction and testing process details to interfaced test equipment, data collection systems, analog and digital control points, machine vision, motion, data, and other unique peripherals.
 The software engineer works with technicians and engineers of multiple disciplines from all process departments.
 A security clearance is required for access and control of regulated process parameters, data and ITAR sensitive information.

 Join sonnen as a Senior Software Engineer Elixir in Cairo, Egypt!
 
 
 Sonnen is actively seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our distributed team in Cairo and contribute to sonnen's global IoT cloud platform. You will work on building scalable, high-performance backend services that manage an extensive network of batteries, EV chargers, and heat pumps worldwide.  Key Responsibilities
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable cloud-based services using Elixir/Phoenix
 </li>
 <li>
 Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers in functional programming best practices
 </li>
 <li>
 Build and optimize distributed systems handling high-load, real-time IoT data processing
 </li>
 <li>
 Collaborate with cross-functional teams (architects, product managers, DevOps) on system architecture and implementation
 </li>
 <li>
 Implement event-based and REST-full architectures for energy management microservices
 </li>
 <li>
 Maintain high code quality through rigorous testing, code reviews, and documentation standards
 </li>
 <li>
 Troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous performance optimization
 </li>
 <li>
 Contribute to infrastructure-as-code initiatives and CI/CD pipeline improvements
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Required Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
 </li>
 <li>
 2+ years of hands-on experience building, testing, and maintaining cloud-based services with Elixir/Erlang or similar functional programming languages.
 </li>
 <li>
 Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database optimization
 </li>
 <li>
 Demonstrated experience with event-based and microservice architectures
 </li>
 <li>
 Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and tools (GitHub, GitLab, GitLab CI)
 </li>
 <li>
 Excellent grasp of version control systems and Git workflows
 </li>
 <li>
 Fluent in English.
 
 
 </li>
 </ul>
 
 Nice-to-Have Qualifications
 
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (Datadog, Sentry, CloudWatch, Elastic Stack)
 </li>
 <li>
 Knowledge of IoT AMQP and Kafka.
 </li>
 <li>
 Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
 </li>
 <li>
 Leadership or mentoring experience in engineering teams
